These Noise-Canceling Earbuds Are Up There With Apple's AirPods 4, and They're Only $1 More Than the Prime Day Price

CNET14-07-2025
I like using my over-ear Sony headphones for work, but they're bulky, so I started looking for an affordable pair of earbuds that offer decent noise cancellation for at-home use. That's how I ended up buying the Earfun Air Pro 4s, CNET's 2024 Editors' Choice for affordable in-ear headphones.
In short, they're great, and the black ones cost just $56 on Amazon right now a 30% discount. Most of the other colors are also on sale, with the white ones at only $76, the glossy white and royal blue both at $70 and the violet headphones at the regular price of $90. We just saw these earbuds on sale during Prime Day at $55 for the black pair. Even though that was a record low price, it's only $1 more right now.
Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.
How these earbuds silence the noise around you
I prefer in-ear headphones because they offer active, electronic and passive noise canceling. Passive noise cancellation basically consists of plugging your ears with the rubbery tips included with the earbuds. The Earfuns fit well for me when I use the second-largest of the five swappable ear tip sizes, and they stay sealed and comfortable for hours. Sometimes I have to reseal one after I yawn or something, but that's the case with other in-ear headphones too.

For reading, I prefer Earfun's "Strong ANC" noise-canceling mode, which makes a big difference when blocking out the noise around you, but there are a bunch of other noise-cancellation options. The Ambient Sound function is good for when I want to pay attention to my surroundings. Overall I found the app easier to use than Sony's and just as capable. The main difference is that Sony's app has a variable slider for ambient sound.
The Earfun app also includes a white noise section in the app. Normally I prefer Spotify for white noise (and I download my favorite playlists for offline listening) but this feature is useful for people who don't have another music service. It includes birdsong, waves and rainfall, all of which are short clips that repeat automatically.
Why I chose these earbuds over AirPods
These headphones have every other feature I'd expect, including the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously and programmable touch-sensitive controls on the buds. Plus, battery life has been more than ample for me even after a marathon reading session.
Here's how the noise-canceling options for the headphones appear on an iPhone.

There's also a finder function if you misplace either earbud (unlike Apple FindMy, however, they have to be connected and in Bluetooth range). For actual music and voice calling quality, they sound fine, albeit not as good as my big Sonys.
I have an iPhone and briefly thought about buying Apple AirPods, but I didn't want to spend the money. The AirPods 4 with noise cancellation cost $115 more than these Earfuns and have an open-ear design, so they rely entirely on the electronic (not passive) method. The AirPods Pro 2 are in-ear and superb, but I didn't want to spend $250 on a pair of secondary headphones.
Yes, I could probably save some money on an even less expensive pair of in-ear noise-canceling headphones, but I'm not sure I'd be as happy with their fit, long-term comfort, battery life and noise-cancellation performance. The Earfun Pro 4 buds help me relax and concentrate on my book, and for me that's priceless.

Stablecoins Are on the Rise. 3 Reasons Investors Should Pay Attention to This Popular Cryptocurrency.

Key Points New crypto legislation in Congress has paved the way for rapid expansion of the stablecoin industry. In addition to financial services firms, companies in industries ranging from retail to tech could launch new stablecoins. Stablecoins have the potential to disrupt existing industries and change the way investors value companies. 10 stocks we like better than Circle Internet Group › Passage of landmark new crypto legislation (the Genius Act) has led to a surge of positive sentiment about stablecoins. Some investors now think they have the potential to disrupt entire industries. Although some of this hype and buzz may be overblown, investors still need to pay attention. Here are three key ways that stablecoins could influence your investment strategy. 1. Impact on the business models of top companies Stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies pegged 1:1 to a fiat currency such as the U.S. dollar, have the potential to affect the business models of companies that have nothing to do with crypto or blockchain. Take retail, for example. A handful of top retailers -- including Amazon and Walmart -- are now exploring stablecoins as a way of cutting down on credit card processing fees. At some point in the not-so-distant future, you might be paying for your online purchases with stablecoins, rather than credit cards. Or what about the financial services industry? Visa is a prime candidate for disruption, so it is already taking steps to prepare for the stablecoin era. And Western Union is also preparing for the day when customers use stablecoins rather than dollars to send cross-border remittances. So get ready to hear a lot about stablecoins on analyst calls and at investor conferences. After asking questions about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI), investors and analysts might start to ask about the impact of stablecoins. At the very least, investors need to understand how stablecoins might change or disrupt existing business models. 2. New stablecoin launches Also, get ready for a deluge of new stablecoin launches from some unlikely names. And it won't just be banks or financial institutions issuing them. Under the Genius Act, even nonbanks will be able to issue them. And that could really open the floodgates. Right now, Tether (CRYPTO: USDT) and USDC (CRYPTO: USDC), the stablecoin issued by Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), account for a whopping 90% of the $250 billion stablecoin industry. According to the latest Motley Fool stablecoin research, Tether and Circle are smaller than the biggest national banks, but larger than typical midsized brokerages. So, they're definitely, a force to be reckoned with. Right now, I'm partial to USDC, because it's the unofficial stablecoin of Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN), which has a partnership agreement with Circle. I also am confident that it will never lose its peg to the U.S. dollar. I wouldn't have as much confidence in smaller stablecoins without such a proven track record or as many key partners. It's easy to see how this industry will become a lot more fragmented very soon, making it potentially even more confusing for the average investor. In June, Fortune reported that Apple, Airbnb, X, and Alphabet were exploring stablecoin launches. So, if you're an Apple fan, you might want to own an Apple stablecoin. The same is true if you're an Elon Musk fan -- wouldn't you want to own a cool new X stablecoin? 3. Ethereum Finally, there's the matter of which blockchain will emerge as the dominant platform for stablecoins. Presumably, investors will flock to blockchains that are seeing the most success with stablecoins. That's because stablecoins are key building blocks for everything that happens in blockchain finance. So the most popular blockchains for stablecoins should also get the highest valuations. Currently, Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) is getting a lot of buzz because it accounts for 49% of the stablecoin market. According to investment strategist Tom Lee of Fundstrat, stablecoins are going to create a "ChatGPT moment" for Ethereum, with the potential to really light a fire under its price. With that in mind, it's easy to see why high-profile investors such as Peter Thiel are now starting to increase their exposure to Ethereum as a way of investing in stablecoins. But Ethereum hardly has a monopoly on stablecoins. All Layer-1 blockchains, if they can support smart contracts, should also be able to support stablecoins. And that creates the opportunity for relatively unknown names to really pop. According to CoinGecko, Tron (CRYPTO: TRX) has a 34.1% share of the stablecoin market. By way of comparison, Solana (CRYPTO: SOL) only has a measly 2.2% share. If you think that stablecoins are the future, then Solana (with a $100 billion valuation), might be way overvalued compared to Tron, which has a $30 billion valuation. What's the best way to play the stablecoin trend? It's obvious that there are a number of different ways to play the stablecoin trend. The easiest way is to invest in the issuers of stablecoins, such as Circle. That gives you maximum exposure to any potential upside. You could also invest in blockchains such as Ethereum that are dominant in stablecoins, with the expectation that their values are going to soar. By the end of 2025, investing in stablecoins could get very interesting. What if a popular company like Amazon, Apple, or Alphabet decides to launch a stablecoin? It might fundamentally alter the way investors view these companies. That's why, even if you've never paid attention to stablecoins before, you should now. Very soon, they're going to become impossible to ignore. Should you invest $1,000 in Circle Internet Group right now? Vibeathons Are Taking Over Hackathons To Rapidly Increase Innovation

Teams rapidly prototype new ideas using AI tools during a high-intensity vibathon session. It's 10 a.m. on a Thursday. Instead of back-to-back meetings and project updates, a team huddles over laptops in a buzzing workspace. Code is flying. AI tools are generating UI prototypes in real time. There's an energy that feels less like a corporate grind and more like a creative sprint. By 2 p.m., teams test a working prototype of an idea that didn't exist that morning but could lead to the next big innovation. Welcome to the age of vibathons, also known as vibe coding: high-speed, AI-powered innovation sprints designed for the next generation of problem-solving. Organizations such as Microsoft host these coding jam events where energy meets innovation. A vibathon is a shorter, more intense version of a hackathon that prioritizes speed, creativity and the use of AI tools to accelerate innovation. Unlike traditional hackathons that may stretch over 48 hours, vibathons often run for four to six hours. It reduces the risk of burnout. The goal isn't to ship a perfect product. It's to build something tangible and unleash creative momentum. Where hackathons reward brute-force effort and deep technical stacks, vibathons focus on velocity, product thinking andcross-functional collaboration. It's less about raw code and more about rapid prototyping and inspired decision-making. Speed Is The New Strategy In an era where the biggest bottleneck isn't technology but time, speed is a competitive advantage. Vibathons compress the innovation cycle, utilizing AI tools such as code generators, design assistants and smart workflows to transform rough ideas into usable prototypes within hours. Vibeathons aren't about aiming for flawless execution. Teams rapidly bring ideas to life through immediate, hands-on experimentation. They uncover what works by quickly exposing what doesn't, turning fast failures into valuable feedback loops. Why AI Is At The Center Participants are encouraged to use generative AI to streamline development. Writing code, generating wireframes, crafting product copy, even simulating user feedback focuses less on busywork and more on solving the actual problem; making the process more efficient positions the company as a leader in its particular market. Here's how to run a high-impact vibathon: Frame the sprint around a specific question or challenge. For example, you could ask: A cross-functional group collaborates in real time, transforming bold prompts into tangible ... More solutions. This shift opens the door to designers, product thinkers, marketers and team members without any coding experience to contribute meaningfully using AI tools as force multipliers. Use a timer. Limit each build phase to 60–90 minutes. Encourage quick, scrappy progress. Remind teams: this is about proof of concept, not production code. Provide access to a variety of AI tools such as coding assistants that generate code snippets, design generators that create UI mockups and no-code tools that automate repetitive tasks. Offer quick tutorials to level the playing field early, ensuring that everyone makes the most of these powerful tools. This step is crucial in fostering a collaborative environment. End with brief, high-impact demos. Focus the debrief on what teams learned, not just what they built. The real outcome is insight. Avoid turning this into a meeting recap. Instead, document big takeaways and new ideas sparked by the sprint. Let the momentum carry into the next work cycle. Real industry disruptors are those who rapidly experiment and learn. Vibathons create a container for that kind of thinking. They push teams to transition from planning mode to building mode without waiting for approval from above. They're not just fast. They're focused, energizing and deeply instructive. Because in the age of AI, the next big thing isn't built by committee. It's prototyped in an afternoon.

Cadence (CDNS) Reports Earnings Tomorrow: What To Expect

Semiconductor design software provider Cadence Design Systems (NASDAQ:CDNS) will be reporting results this Monday afternoon. Here's what to look for. Cadence met analysts' revenue expectations last quarter, reporting revenues of $1.24 billion, up 23.1% year on year. It was a satisfactory quarter for the company, with an impressive beat of analysts' EBITDA estimates. Is Cadence a buy or sell going into earnings? Read our full analysis here, it's free. This quarter, analysts are expecting Cadence's revenue to grow 18% year on year to $1.25 billion, improving from the 8.6% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $1.56 per share. The majority of analysts covering the company have reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Cadence has missed Wall Street's revenue estimates twice over the last two years. Looking at Cadence's peers in the vertical software segment, some have already reported their Q2 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Adobe delivered year-on-year revenue growth of 10.6%, beating analysts' expectations by 1.5%, and Agilysys reported revenues up 20.7%, topping estimates by 3.1%. Adobe traded down 5.3% following the results while Agilysys was also down 4.7%. Read our full analysis of Adobe's results here and Agilysys's results here. There has been positive sentiment among investors in the vertical software segment, with share prices up 4.2% on average over the last month. Cadence is up 9.2% during the same time and is heading into earnings with an average analyst price target of $331.01 (compared to the current share price of $333.14). Unless you've been living under a rock, it should be obvious by now that generative AI is going to have a huge impact on how large corporations do business. While Nvidia and AMD are trading close to all-time highs, we prefer a lesser-known (but still profitable) semiconductor stock benefiting from the rise of AI.
