
Homes in Lenawee County sold for higher prices in April. Here's how much
The median home sold for $210,000, an analysis of data from Realtor.com shows. That means April, the most recent month for which figures are available, was up 3.4% from March.
Compared to April 2024, the median home sales price was up 6.1% compared to $197,900.
Realtor.com sources sales data from real estate deeds, resulting in a few months' delay. The statistics don't include homes currently listed for sale and aren't directly comparable to listings data.

Looking only at single-family homes, the $190,875 median selling price in Lenawee County was down 4.6% in April from $200,000 the month prior. Since April 2024, the sales price of single-family homes was up 2.4% from a median of $186,500. Five single-family homes sold for $1 million or more during the month, compared to one recorded transactions of at least $1 million in April 2024.
Condominiums and townhomes decreased by 22.8% in sales price during April to a median of $297,375 from $385,000 in March. Compared to April 2024, the sales price of condominiums and townhomes was slightly up from $295,500. Eight condominiums or townhomes sold for $1 million or more during the month, compared to zero recorded transactions of $1 million in April 2024.
In April, the number of recorded sales in Lenawee County dropped by 22.6% since April 2024 — from 133 to 103. All residential home sales totaled $57.5 million.
Across Michigan, homes sold at a median of $240,030 during April, up 3.2% from $232,607 in March. There were 10,478 recorded sales across the state during April, down 4.1% from 10,921 recorded sales in April 2024.
The total value of recorded residential home sales in Michigan increased by 24.2% from $2.6 billion in March to $3.2 billion this April.
Of all residential home sales in Michigan, 1.73% of homes sold for at least $1 million in April, up from 1.24% in April 2024.
Sales prices of single-family homes across Michigan increased by 1.3% from a median of $223,997 in March to $226,875 in April. Since April 2024, the sales price of single-family homes across the state was up 3.6% from $218,905.
Across the state, the sales price of condominiums and townhomes rose 6.6% from a median of $294,762 in March to $314,295 during April. The median sales price of condominiums and townhomes is up 13.3% from the median of $277,375 in April 2024.
The median home sales price used in this report represents the midway point of all the houses or units listed over the given period of time. The median offers a more accurate view of what's happening in a market than the average sales price, which would mean taking the sum of all sales prices then dividing by the number of homes sold. The average can be skewed by one particularly low or high sale.

Rep. Ken Rahjes is running for secretary of state in the 2026 elections
Kansas Rep. Ken Rahjes, R-Phillipsburg, officially filed as a Republican candidate for Kansas secretary of state. Rahjes will face fellow House Rep. Pat Proctor, R-Leavenworth, in the Republican Primary for the seat being vacated by Scott Schwab, who is running for governor. Political newcomer Sam Lane filed to run for secretary of state as a Democrat. In an announcement, Rahjes said he will work to streamline the processes for business filings, including the Secretary of State Office's One Stop online portal, where businesses can pay taxes, register in the state and find resources for new and existing businesses. "You fill out the forms and it gets filtered out to the various agencies, but it still starts within the Secretary of State's Office," Rahjes told The Capital-Journal. "People should not be waiting for weeks on end to get a form approved or questions answered. We need to go back to the days when we were known as one of if not the most business-friendly states in the nation." Rahjes also said he will continue election security programs, increase transparency of election audits and quickly produce accurate election results. He believes part of that is making sure local election officials have the resources to respond to voters. "We need to make sure, especially in those counties that have county clerks that wear multiple hats, we need to make sure that they have the training, and their staff have the training and tools, so that if a citizen has a question about their election that they don't have to call the Secretary of State's Office," Rahjes said. Rahjes has served in the House since 2015, and holds committee assignments on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, the Water Program Task Force and Appropriations Committee. He is the owner of Authentic Ag Inc., and is the director of agricultural programming for Western Kansas Broadcast Center and Murfin Media, where he hosts shows about agricultural markets. He said his experience in the Legislature and as a business owner would be valuable for a secretary of state. "Secretary of State can hopefully be that influence that folks know their vote is safe and secure and that a business can succeed and get started quickly," Rahjes. How candidates for Topeka City Council's District 1 seat raised campaign funds
The primary for the Topeka City Council District 1 race is days away. Prior to Election Day, candidates were required to submit their pre-primary campaign finances. These financial files showed William Naeger in the lead for campaign donations. Brendan Jensen, Eli Bohannan and Tyler Jaggers filed an affidavit of exemption stating they don't plan to accept donations totaling more than $1,000 prior to the primary. They aren't required to file a pre-primary campaign finance report unless they raise more than $1,000. The Topeka District 1 primary is Aug. 5. William Naeger's campaign contributions Naeger has the largest number of donations for Topeka District 1 candidate this year. He has $6,420 donated to his campaign by 44 people or organizations. Some notable donations include the Greater Topeka Partnership donating $500, Topeka City Councilman Neil Dobler donating $350 and state board of education member Beryl New donating $50. The Kansas Democratic Party also donated voter data worth about $100. Naeger has spent $5,205 on printing campaign materials, his campaign website and filing fees. 'I am so excited to see the energy in our community for something new," Naeger said in a written statement. "I am working hard to earn voters' support and make Topeka a place that families can be happy, healthy, and safe — without moving somewhere else.' Jolie Lippitt's campaign finances Jolie Lippitt collected $3,302 for her campaign. However, the only contribution listed is the $500 donation from Compassion Strategies. She then had $1,092 listed in donations $50 or less, $1,000 in total contributions with the contributor unknown and $710 under sale of political materials. Out of that money, Lippitt spent $3,251 on campaign materials from Target and online. Karen Hiller's campaign funds Incumbent Karen Hiller received $1,725 in campaign donations from 10 residents and organizations. One notable donation was Hazel Hill Chocolates, which donated $100. Hiller also had $4,797 in her campaign funds before donations, which doesn't directly state where those funds came from in her filing. Hiller spent $3,130 on campaign mailers, voter filing fees, information and other campaign materials. Microsoft (MSFT) Shares in Microsoft jumped by almost 10% in pre-market trading after the company announced a surge in quarterly profits thanks to record revenues from its cloud computing division. Net income increased 24% year on year to $27.2bn (£20.51bn), surpassing analysts' expectations for $25.3bn in the fourth quarter of Microsoft's fiscal year, ending June 30. Revenue increased 18% to $76.4bn in the fiscal fourth quarter ending June 30, up from $64.7bn a year earlier. That's the fastest growth in more than three years. The company's Intelligent Cloud unit, which includes the Azure cloud, produced $29.88bn in revenue in the final quarter. For the entire fiscal year, this AI division saw revenue surge 34% to a record $75bn. The company predicted its capital expenditure for the next fiscal year would top $100bn, a 14% increase from the year prior. It's the fifth quarter in a row that Microsoft has beaten Wall Street's expectations. 'We're innovating across the tech stack to help customers adapt and grow in this new era, and this year, Azure surpassed $75bn in revenue, up 34%, driven by growth across all workloads,' Nadella said in a statement. Shares in the company are trading a near record of $513, up 22% since the start of the year. Meta (META) Meta shares were up by 12% ahead of the US opening bell after posting a bumper set of financial results that eased concerns it was lagging rivals in the AI race. The firm, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, said revenue for the three months to the end of June rose 22% from the same period last year to $47.5bn. Meanwhile, profits jumped by 36% to $18.3bn. Profit per share came in at $7.14, above analysts' estimates. Meta said it expected its total expenses for 2025 to come in the range of $114bn and $118bn. The company added its AI initiatives will 'result in a 2026 year-over-year expense growth rate that is above the 2025 expense growth.' "I think there are all these questions that people have about what are going to be the timelines to get to really strong AI or superintelligence ... we've observed the more aggressive assumptions, or the fastest assumptions, have been the ones that have most accurately predicted what would happen. I think that that just continued to happen over the course of this year too," CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on a conference call with analysts. Reality Labs logged an operating loss of $4.53bn while recording $370m in sales during the same period. This division oversees the Quest line of virtual reality headsets in addition to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Matt Britzman, senior equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, said: "Meta has knocked it out of the park. Pick your metric and Meta crushed it, from ad revenue growth to daily users, all the way down to the profit lines. "AI is clearly delivering real-world benefits for advertisers, and they're willing to pay more as a result. Average price per ad was up 9% over the quarter, a clear indication that Meta is delivering an improved product for both users and advertisers. "The broader focus now turns to Meta's mammoth AI investment plans and whether it can continue to manage those costs without hurting earnings or free cash flow. "CFO commentary called out higher costs next year, and another year of similar capex growth, which many analysts did not have on their bingo cards. Clearly, all this spending adds some near-term risks to the bottom line, but Meta looks set to be a clear winner in the AI space over the longer term." Nvidia (NVDA) Shares in the AI darling were trending in pre-market trading as Morgan Stanley raised its price target to $200 from $170 while maintaining an Overweight rating on the stock. "We think that the increase in enthusiasm for AI semis is justified by long-term strength in the business," Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore said in a client note. "AI strength is exceptional in both supply and demand," Moore said. "All of our data points and contacts are telling us that customers need more compute, and we are seeing a clear acceleration in inference workloads driving that." Moore added that he was not concerned about the higher valuations for AI chipmakers. "While stock prices have moved higher, our conviction on AI spend durability in 2026 continues to grow," he said. "It is our view that at least three of the four top cloud customers have asked for upside, and we have seen even more notable strength from neoclouds and consumer internet companies." The Cyberspace Administration of China, the country's internet regulator, said it was concerned by a US proposal for advanced chips sold abroad to be equipped with tracking and positioning functions. Amazon (AMZN) Shares in Amazon are 3% higher in pre-market trading, as the e-commerce giant prepares to announce second quarter results later in the day. "Investor sentiment is broadly positive, with expectations improving in recent weeks following a disappointing 2Q guide that was delivered in early May," Wedbush analyst Scott Devitt wrote to clients Wednesday. "Still, profitability forecasts for the year remain depressed as investors weigh the impact of tariff/macro uncertainty, currency risk, rising expenses to support AI initiatives, and an uncertain cost trajectory associated with Project Kuiper." According to analysts, Amazon's total revenue is expected to grow 9.5% year-on-year to $162.2bn. This falls at the mid-range point of Amazon's own guidance of $159bn-$164bn. Operating income is forecast at $16.7bn, a 13.8% jump from the same period last year, according to IG analysts. All 26 analysts tracked by Visible Alpha give Amazon's stock a "buy" or equivalent rating. Their average price target near $250 would surpass Amazon's previous record close of $242.06 on 4 February. Amazon is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings after the market closes on Thursday, with analysts focusing on the artificial intelligence powered growth of the Amazon Web Services cloud. However, questions about the effects of tariffs on Amazon's retail operations are likely to arise. Rolls-Royce (RR.L) Rolls-Royce's share price has soared by 10.9% in early trading this morning in London, to a new record high, after reporting a 50% increase in underlying operating profit in the first half. Underlying operating profit for the engine maker jumped to £1.73bn in the first six months of 2025 from £1.15bn a year earlier. Pre-tax profit rose to £1.7bn, up from £1bn. Underlying revenues in the first six months were just over £9bn, compared with £8.1bn in the same period in 2024. The company also raised its free cash flow guidance to £3bn-£3.1bn, compared with a previous range of £2.7bn-£2.9bn. The jet engine manufacturer was valued at £83bn yesterday evening, so another 10% gain puts its valuation at more than £92bn, a new record high. Its market value has almost doubled over the course of 2025 and the stock is up 400% in the last two years. Tufan Erginbilgiç, Rolls-Royce's chief executive, said the company's transformation was continuing to deliver. 'Our actions led to strong first half-year results, despite the challenges of the supply chain and tariffs,' he said. Since taking over in 2023, Erginbilgic has cut costs and pushed customers to pay more for its products through renegotiating contracts for maintaining jet engines that go on widebody planes such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing's 787. Unilever (ULVR.L) Shares in Unilever were muted as it reported an increase in sales growth in the second quarter of the year but profits dropped. The maker of Dove soap and Colman's mustard said underlying group sales rose 3.4% in the first half. The group's operating profit was down 4.8% compared with last year at €5.8bn, slightly ahead of expectations. The company confirmed its full-year organic sales growth guidance of 3% to 5%. A €1.5bn share buyback has been completed and the quarterly dividend increased by 3%. 'Our continued outperformance in developed markets and the positive impact of our decisive interventions in emerging markets accelerated our growth in the second quarter to 3.8%, with positive volume growth across all business groups," said CEO Fernando Fernandez. The company revealed that it would retain a less than 20% stake in its ice cream business for up to five years after the division is spun off into a listed entity in Amsterdam in mid-November. Victoria Scholar, head of investment at Interactive Investor, said: "Since Fernando Fernandez took to the helm as CEO in March, shares in Unilever have struggled to make progress. "The stock has declined by almost 10% off the April highs as investors express concerns about the weak economic backdrop and cost-conscious consumers switching to cheaper own-brand products. Aker ASA ( Aker ASA, the Norwegian industrial conglomerate, saw its shares pop after it announced it will partner with Nscale Global Holdings and OpenAI to build a major artificial intelligence facility in northern Norway, marking OpenAI's first Stargate centre in Europe. The joint venture, dubbed Stargate Norway, aims to install 100,000 Nvidia processors by the end of 2026, creating one of the continent's largest AI infrastructure investments. According to a joint statement from the companies, the project will be powered entirely by renewable energy. 'This is one of the most ambitious AI infrastructure investments in Europe to date,' OpenAI said in a blog post published on Thursday. The initiative follows the recent launch of Stargate UAE, a similar-sized facility in the United Arab Emirates. Nscale and Aker will jointly own Stargate Norway, committing approximately $1bn to the first phase of development. The partners said the site's capacity could increase tenfold in subsequent stages.
