Mena Massoud, Christina Hendricks, Cary Elwes to Star in Sam Kadi Political Thriller "The American Spring"
Mena Massoud ('Aladdin,' "Hotel for the Holidays"), Christina Hendricks ('Mad Men,' 'Good American Family'), and Cary Elwes ('Saw,' 'Mission Impossible') are set to star in 'The American Spring.'
Los Angeles-based Syrian director and producer Sam Kadi will direct the political thriller.
Set against a backdrop of deep national division, 'The American Spring' follows a Massachusetts governor named Dominic Nelson whose presidential hopes fade amid a polarized primary race.
The official synopsis for the film reads: 'Choosing to break from the two-party system, Nelson launches an Independent campaign with an unorthodox campaign manager: Fred Hoffman, who is a controversial political scientist and his childhood friend. As their revolutionary platform and unconventional plan to save America ignite fierce debate across the country, a shocking turn of events thrusts Hoffman to the forefront of the campaign, pushing both men into a high-stakes political storm that could either save the nation or tear it apart."
'This project is deeply personal — a dream I've carried with me for over ten years. It was ahead of its time back then, but now, its moment has come,' said Kadi, who is known for politically charged works such as documentary 'Little Gandhi,' about the life and death of young Syrian peace activist Ghiyath Matar, and Oscar-shortlisted animated film 'Lamya's Poem,' which he produced.
'It's a very topical film, but most importantly, it presents a nonpartisan vision that serves all of us,' he added.
'American Spring' is being produced by Kim Zubick ('The Zookeeper's Wife,' Togo') and Kadi, who are launching pre-sales in Cannes.
Executive producers include Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Adam Harris Engelhard, and Stephen Mastrocola of Buffalo 8.
Production is slated to begin later this year.

Trump Orders Nationwide Removal of Homeless Encampments
Israa Farhan Former US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing cities and states across the country to dismantle homeless encampments and relocate individuals to treatment centers. The move has drawn strong criticism from homelessness advocates, who warn it could worsen the ongoing crisis. The order, signed on Thursday, instructs Attorney General Pam Bondi to override previous state and federal rulings that limit local efforts to clear homeless tents and encampments. However, it remains unclear how such legal decisions could be overturned unilaterally. This directive follows a 2024 Supreme Court ruling allowing cities to prohibit the use of tents by homeless individuals in public spaces. Trump's executive action builds on that ruling, aiming to clear streets and public areas nationwide. The National Coalition for the Homeless condemned the order, stating it undermines the legal protections of homeless people, particularly those suffering from mental illness. The coalition also criticized the Trump administration's track record on civil rights and due process, warning that the new policy could push more people into extreme vulnerability. Trump stated that homeless individuals living in tents should be transferred to facilities offering mental health and addiction treatment. However, he did not present any plans to expand treatment infrastructure or increase the availability of long-term housing. According to the US Interagency Council on Homelessness, the number of homeless people across the United States reached 771,480 on a single night in 2024, a rise of 18 percent compared to the previous year. The Department of Housing and Urban Development reported that around 36 percent of those individuals were completely unsheltered, living in streets, vehicles, or makeshift tents. The National Homelessness Law Center has also criticized the executive order, warning that its enforcement, combined with recent cuts to housing and healthcare funding, could significantly deepen the crisis. The center stated that forced treatment is unethical, ineffective, and legally questionable, arguing that the order could divert critical resources away from those who need them most. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

France to Join 143 Nations, Including Most of Europe, in Recognizing State of Palestine at UN in September
Ahmed Emam French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will officially recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, joining 143 countries worldwide — including the majority of European states — that have already extended diplomatic recognition to Palestine. 'In line with our historic commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine,' Macron said in a statement posted on his official X and Instagram accounts. 'I will make this recognition official during the UN General Assembly this September.' The French president stressed the urgency of ending the war in Gaza and protecting civilians. 'The need is urgent today to end the war in Gaza and save civilians. Ultimately, we must build the State of Palestine, ensure its viability, and allow it—on the condition that it agrees to be demilitarized and fully recognizes Israel—to contribute to the security of all in the Middle East,' he said. In a letter addressed to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Macron described France's decision as a 'decisive contribution toward peace in the Middle East,' and said Paris would coordinate with international partners willing to support the move. France's declaration follows recent recognitions by Ireland, Spain, Norway, and Slovenia, and is expected to further amplify European momentum toward Palestinian statehood. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
