Grateful Bonmati relishing Spain's clash with Switzerland after health scare
The reigning world and Nations League champions had their plans disrupted a few days before the tournament as Bonmati was hospitalised with suspected viral meningitis, but the 27-year-old said she is back to her best ahead of the Swiss showdown.
"I never thought I wouldn't be here -- I thought I may miss some games, but I never thought I couldn't be here. I'm willing to be in this tournament. What happened was an unexpected thing," she told reporters on Thursday.
"I felt super well physically, I was perfect ... and all of a sudden, I was at the hospital. It was a new experience for me, obviously, I was negative because it was five days before starting the tournament and I was at the hospital.
"I was frustrated, I suffered, I must admit. All players want to enjoy tournaments but luckily enough I'm ready to play the quarter-finals."
A win against the Swiss would set Spain up for a meeting with either France or Germany in the semi-finals, but Bonmati said she wasn't looking that far ahead.
"For tomorrow, it's a new challenge for us, we have the possibility to be in the semi-finals. My objective is to try to continue writing history," the two-time Ballon d'Or winner said.

After four years of living cancer-free, she faced another fight. But Berger recovered and then returned for the second time to play at the highest level. Berger first saved from Amel Majri, diving to her left and landing on the shoulder that already took a heavy blow when she rescued Germany in extra time. Then, at 3-3 and sudden death, Berger stepped up to take Germany's fifth penalty, two nights after Sweden's goalkeeper Jennifer Falk had missed from the same position against England. This time, Berger barely blinked as she found the corner. "I think credit should go to the team, not me,' Berger said. 'Because maybe it was the decisive moment in the penalty shootout, but everyone here should talk about t the performance of the team, because that was amazing and incredible." Strapped to Berger's water bottle was a cheat-sheet with the penalty records of France's likely takers. But tellingly, Berger admitted afterwards that she did not look at it. She was living at the moment, epitomising Germany's resistance, and her second save of the shoot-out to deny France's Alice Sombath sent them through to the semi-finals.

The amount of Marcus Rashford's wages which Barcelona will pay has been revealed. There is an agreement in principle for Rashford to join Barcelona on a season-long loan move from Manchester United. The deal will include an option for Barcelona to sign the England international permanently next summer. Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after falling out of favour under United boss Ruben Amorim. During his time at Villa Rashford made 17 appearances and scored four goals, while he provided six assists. His current contract at United runs until the summer of 2028. Barcelona are set to pay all of Rashford's £315,000-a-week wages during his loan move. The 27-year-old has been training away from the United squad at Carrington in pre-season so far and has been joined by Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Another sign of Rashford's imminent departure from United came when his No10 shirt was given to new signing Matheus Cunha earlier this month.
