KSrelief extends support to 5 nations in need
The agency has launched a voluntary medical project for adult cardiac surgery and catheterization in Yemen's Aden governorate, in cooperation with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen.
Running until July 27, the project is set to perform 65 catheterizations and 30 surgeries, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.
KSrelief in Somalia has distributed 130 shelter kits, 100 clothing kits, and 10 tents to 1,440 people in 240 families in Baki camp in the Awdal region.
The Saudi aid agency in Sudan has distributed 800 food baskets to families returning from displacement in Al-Jazirah state, helping 5,036 people.
In Afghanistan, 90 food baskets have been distributed at Omari camp near the Torkham border, helping 540 Afghan returnees from Pakistan.
In addition, KSrelief in the Syrian Arab Republic continues to help families affected by fires in Latakia, and has distributed shelter kits to 1,500 families.
Since its launch in May 2015, KSrelief has implemented 3,602 projects worth more than $8.1 billion across 108 countries, in partnership with more than 323 organizations.

This operation marks the fourth successful separation of conjoined twins from Syria and the 66th procedure under the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, which spans over 35 years and has evaluated 150 cases from 27 countries. The program reflects Saudi Arabia's global leadership in this rare surgical field, backed by the continuous support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Dr. Al-Rabeeah expressed deep gratitude to the Kingdom's leadership for its unwavering support and commended the surgical team for their skill and dedication. 'This achievement is a testament to the high caliber of Saudi medical professionals and the Kingdom's humanitarian mission to serve people worldwide,' he said, adding that such milestones solidify Saudi Arabia's reputation as an international center of excellence in conjoined twin surgery. Hussein Abdulaziz, chargé d'affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Riyadh, extended his appreciation to the Saudi government, KSrelief, and the medical team. Operation to separate Syrian conjoined twins begins in Saudi hospital
RIYADH: A medical team from the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program on Sunday are carrying out an operation to separate Syrian conjoined twin girls in Riyadh. The procedure to separate Celine and Eileen Abdulmunem Al-Shabli is taking place at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, who heads the surgical team and is an advisor at the royal court and supervisor general of Saudi aid agency KSrelief, said the twins come from a Syrian family who sought refuge in Lebanon and had arrived in Saudi Arabia last December. Al-Rabeeah said the mother was pregnant with triplets, two conjoined girls and one healthy, non-conjoined boy. On Feb. 28, 2024, the mother gave birth to the triplets in a caesarean section at Rafik Hariri Hospital in Beirut, he said. The twins are now one year and five months old. Their combined weight is 14 kilograms. He explained that the Syrian conjoined twins arrived from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia on Dec. 29, 2024, in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. The Saudi medical teams conducted extensive and accurate examinations of the twins ahead of the operation. The operation is expected take about nine hours, and is being carried out in six stages, with the participation of 24 consultants and specialist doctors.
