Xi calls on China, Russia to maintain strategic resolve, coordination
Moscow, May 9 (UNI) Chinese President Xi Jinping said Thursday that China and Russia should maintain strategic resolve and coordination as the world is entering a new period of turbulence and transformation.
Xi made the remarks during a chat over tea with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the president's office of the Kremlin in Moscow.
As long as China and Russia maintain strategic resolve and coordination, no force can stop the two countries from achieving their respective development and revitalization, no force can shake the strong foundation of long-standing friendship between the two peoples, and no force can hold back the prevailing trend toward a multipolar world and economic globalization, said Xi.
Xi also voiced readiness to stay in close communication with Putin to chart the course for China-Russia relations and make contributions to advancing global governance.
For his part, Putin said that Russia and China have always stood together in solidarity and supported each other, forging an unbreakable friendship.
The Russian president said he is willing to maintain close strategic communication with Xi, provide strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations, jointly respond to the challenges of a complex international landscape, deepen comprehensive strategic coordination, safeguard common interests of the two countries and promote the development of a more equitable, democratic and multipolar world.
The two heads of state exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other issues. Xi said that China advocates for and remains committed to the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security at the global level, and believes it is important to take seriously the legitimate security concerns of all countries and eliminate the root causes of the Ukraine crisis.
China welcomes all efforts conducive to peace and looks forward to reaching a fair, lasting and binding peace agreement on the Ukraine crisis that is accepted by all relevant parties through dialogue, Xi noted.
Putin highly commended China's objective and impartial position on the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis, saying that Russia is ready to engage in peace talks without preconditions and hopes to reach a fair and lasting peace agreement.

Sergey Lavrov says Russia monitoring Serbian protests, hopes they will be resolved as per law
Moscow/Belgrade, June 30 (UNI) Expressing concern over the massive student-led demonstrations in Serbia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that Moscow is monitoring the situation and hopes that the protests in the Slavic country will be resolved on the basis of the country's Constitution and laws. 'We are monitoring the situation. We support calming the unrest, as Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said, in line with the Constitution and laws of this friendly state,' he said, reports Moscow Times. "We note the readiness of the Serbian leadership for dialogue. Dialogue is the way to resolve any issues," Lavrov said, with the Kremlin stating that Serbian authorities would 'no doubt' be able to 'return law and order' to the country, while also suggesting some hand of Western governments behind the unrest. 'We hope Western countries, which often exploit domestic affairs in other states to advance their interests, will refrain from colour revolutions this time,' Lavrov added. This comes as protests across the Central European nation only seem to be intensifying. On Saturday, around 140,000 people took part in protests in central Belgrade, demanding snap elections and an end to Vučić's 12-year rule. Police, who estimated the crowd at 36,000 people, used tear gas and batons to disperse demonstrators, some of whom threw flares and bottles. Serbian authorities said 48 police officers were injured, 22 people sought medical help and 77 were arrested. Eight protesters face charges, including planning to block roads and attack government buildings. Demonstrations intensified further on Sunday, as thousands blocked major roadways in Belgrade and other cities. The demonstrations mark the latest in over six months of public anger, initially sparked by the deadly collapse of a train station roof in Novi Sad last November — an incident widely blamed on corruption. The protests have already led to the prime minister's resignation and a cabinet reshuffle. Indian Navy's latest warship INS Tamal to be commissioned today in Russia
New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): The Indian Navy is all set to commission its latest stealth frigate, INS Tamal, in Russia on Tuesday. This would be its last warship to have been built outside the country. In a social media post on X, the Indian Navy shared a video on INS Tamal, describing the journey and specifications of the warship. The commissioning ceremony will be presided over by Western Naval Commander Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of many high-ranking Indian and Russian government and defence officials. The ship is christened as 'Tamal' and is the eighth of the series of Krivak class frigates inducted from Russia over the past two decades, with Tamal itself being the second ship of the Tushil Class, which are the upgraded versions of their predecessors, Talwar and Teg classes, having three ships each. 'India as part of the broader contract for Tushil class is also building two similar frigates called the Triput class at Goa Shipyard Limited with transfer of technology and design assistance from the Russian Side,' read an official statement from the Ministry of Defence. When the series of ships finishes building, the Indian Navy will be operating ten ships with similar capabilities and commonality in equipment, weapon and sensor fit over four different classes. Tamal's construction was closely overseen by an Indian team of specialists from the Warship Overseeing Team stationed at Kaliningrad, under the aegis of the Embassy of India, Moscow. 'At Naval Headquarters, the project was steered by the Directorate of Ship Production under the Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition,' the statement added. Tamal has been built at Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia, and is the last warship to be inducted from a foreign source, while still being in line with the Centre's impetus on 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat ' and ' Make in India ' initiatives. 'The ship has 26 per cent of indigenous components, including the BrahMos long-range cruise missile for targeting both at sea and land. The ship has significant upgrades in its arsenal in comparison to its predecessors, such as vertical launched surface-to-air missiles, improved 100 MM gun, new age EO/IR system in addition to the standard 30 MM CIWS, heavyweight torpedoes, urgent-attack anti-submarine rockets, and a host of surveillance and fire control radars and systems,' the statement added. Force multipliers include Air Early Warning and Multi Role helicopters, which can operate from the deck of Tamal. The combat capability of the ship is augmented by a host of Network Centric Warfare capabilities and an advanced Electronic Warfare suite. Tamal punches well above its weight with a very high tonnage to firepower ratio, extended endurance, and a top speed of over 30 knots. The frigate's crew comprises over 250 personnel who have undergone rigorous ashore as well as afloat training in extremely challenging winter conditions of St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, Russia. Tamal has successively completed extensive sea trials undertaken over three months to prove its systems, weapons and sensors. The ship's name symbolises the mythical sword used for combat by Indra, the King of the gods. The ship's mascot is inspired by the congruence of the 'Jambavant', the Immortal Bear King of Indian Mythology, and the Russian National Animal--the Eurasian Brown Bear. 'The ships' crew collectively takes great pride in calling themselves 'The Great Bears'. Tamal stands as a testament to the long-standing Indo-Russian cooperation and friendship, which has stood the test of time. The ships' motto, 'Sarvada Sarvatra Vijaya ' (Victorious Always Everytime), signifies the Indian Navy's undying commitment to operational excellence in every mission,' according to the official statement. The warship weighs around 3,900 tonnes and is 125 meters long, and was made in collaboration with Indian naval specialists and the Severnoye Design Bureau of Russia. enhancing indigenous content of the ship has been enhanced to 26 per cent, and also doubled the made-in-India systems to 33. Talking about its weapons capability, the official statement mentioned, 'Tamal is equipped with the latest technology in warfighting, including the BrahMos supersonic missile system for anti-ship and land-attack capabilities, Surface Surveillance Radar complex and HUMSA NG Mk II sonar with the anti-submarine weapon firing complex amongst a host of cutting-edge weapon and sensors of Indian Origin.' Notably, the ship also features modern communication and data-link systems, navigation equipment and critical infrastructure, making the ship a powerful asset for naval operations. Upon commissioning, Tamal will join the 'Sword Arm' of the Indian Navy, the Western Fleet, under the Western Naval Command. It will not only be a symbol of the Indian Navy's growing capabilities, but also exemplify the collaborative strength of the India-Russia partnership. On December 9, INS Tushil (F 70), a multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate, was also commissioned into the Indian Navy at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad. (ANI)

CIA's money with Congress govts: Nishikant Dubey's fresh charge stirs major row
New Delhi: A day after alleging Russian funding to over 150 Congress MPs, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Tuesday dropped a fresh bombshell, accusing the previous dispensations of receiving money from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) -- an intelligence service of the United States. The funding by the United States' CIA was made for toppling state governments, he alleged. The BJP lawmaker made the startling allegations on X and also shared declassified documents, which he claimed were the conversation between the then US President Richard Nixon and Kissinger, and claimed that the duo's conversation on giving Rs 300 crore in aid stands documented. The BJP MP also claimed that the issue resonated in the Rajya Sabha debate on May 10, 1979, when the then Home Minister raised the issue of US 'funding' to the Indian government. 'In the RS debate, the then Home Minister HM Patel ji is responding to the book by the US Ambassador to India, Moynihan ji, stating that the US gave funds to the Congress party twice, first to defeat the Communist Party in Kerala, and second to contest the Lok Sabha elections, and this is a violation of FERA, i.e., today's PMLA,' he wrote in a post on X. Dubey, speaking to IANS, said that barring a few years since Independence, Congress governments have repeatedly received illegal funding from foreign governments which in turn 'influenced' its governance and policy-making and demanded that a judicial commission be set up to probe into the multiple incidents of country's 'betrayal' and 'slavery to foreign powers'. He also raised the issue of Ravindra Singh, whom he claimed doubled up as a RAW as well as CIA agent and and said that he was privy to these details. He said that the RAW agent fled to the US with the tacit support of the then Congress government as it feared 'dark secrets' coming out of the closet. Notably, the explosive allegations by Nishikant Dubey come a day after he made similar charges of foreign funding to past Congress governments. On Monday, he took to X and cited a 2011 document released by the US intel agency CIA and alleged that over 150 Congress MPs were 'funded' by the Soviet Union under the leadership of the late party veteran H.K.L. Bhagat. 'Congress, Corruption, and Slavery. This unclassified secret document was released by the CIA in 2011. According to it, under the leadership of the late Congress leader HKL Bhagat, more than 150 Congress MPs were funded by Soviet Russia, acting as agents for Russia?' Dubey said in a post on X. He also claimed that the document he shared contained a list of 16,000 news articles that Russia got published, through its 'agents' in India.
