No hamburger giveaway in Milwaukee: Cal Raleigh, Mariners put end to Brewer's win streak

USA Today5 days ago
There'll be no free hamburgers in Milwaukee.
And it was "The Big Dumper" who spoiled the tasty reward for Brewers fans.
The Seattle Mariners defeated the Brewers, 1-0, on Tuesday, July 22, halting Milwaukee's winning streak at 11 games. A sixth-inning solo home run by Cal Raleigh was the winning tally for Seattle. It was a league-leading 39th home for "The Big Dumper," who won the MLB Home Run Derby last week.
The Brewers came tantalizingly close to providing free hamburgers for their fans, courtesy of local restaurant chain George Webb. George Webb has a long-standing promotion that if Milwaukee's baseball team wins 12 games in a row, the restaurant hands out free burgers. It's only happened twice previously, in 2018 and 1987.
Cal Raleigh cooks up a dinger
Raleigh — who hit a Mariners record 38 home runs before the All-Star break — clobbered his 39th of the season and remained ahead of the New York Yankees' Aaron Judge (39), Arizona Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suárez (36) and Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani (35).
Jacob Misiorowski strikes out seven
"The Miz" pitched for the first time since his appearance in the All-Star Game, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, no runs and striking out seven. The rookie flamethrower was pulled by Brewers manager Pat Murphy in the fourth inning after 64 pitches.
