If I Could Buy Only 1 AI Stock Over the Next Year, Nvidia Would Be It. Here's the Key Reason.

Globe and Mail3 days ago

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang has been defining how the future of artificial intelligence (AI) will evolve. New terms like "sovereign AI" and "AI factories" are being splashed all over business news sites. But what do they really mean?
For investors, one thing they should mean is that Nvidia remains the one stock to buy to take advantage of global AI growth. The company has been the leader in selling the hardware needed to support massive compute power being tapped to develop and train large language models (LLMs). But there is much more to the AI ecosystem that Nvidia is already tapping into that will become its next catalyst for growth.
AI factories are going global
AI factories are what Jensen Huang calls specialized data center facilities designed to develop, train, and deploy AI models at scale. He has been traveling the globe to promote Nvidia's leading role in scaling up these Blackwell-powered factories. Nvidia will also be following its Blackwell GPU architecture with the next-generation Rubin platform in 2026.
These Nvidia component-based systems will support sovereign nation digital advancements around the world. These include the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) massive Stargate data center campus, Germany's sovereign AI factory run by telecom giant Deutsche Telekom, and European data center projects being developed by other nations. At a recent Paris tech summit, Huang summarized how the continent is scaling AI solutions, stating, "We now have a new industry, an AI industry, and it's now part of the new infrastructure, called intelligence infrastructure, that will be used by every country, every society."
Nvidia will be a major benefactor of this expanding infrastructure. Its powerful GPU clusters, software infrastructure, and networking solutions will all be prominent in many of these large data centers.
That's the reason I think Nvidia's growth will continue, and its stock should respond in turn. It's the one stock I would continue to add to my portfolio over the next year if I were only allowed to choose a single name.

With a $3.8 Trillion Market Cap, Does Nvidia Really Still Have Room to Grow?

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) is the largest publicly traded company, with a market cap of about $3.8 trillion on Friday afternoon, and a stock price that's just below its all-time high. Nvidia's growth story has been nothing short of extraordinary. Revenue has grown by nearly 400% over the past two years as AI investment activity has exploded, and that's after an already extremely impressive multidecade history. Where to invest $1,000 right now? Our analyst team just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks to buy right now. Continue » If you don't already own Nvidia, is it too late to invest? With an estimated 95% share of its most important end markets and nearly $150 billion in revenue over the past four quarters, it's easy to understand why Nvidia's upside from here might appear limited. But I'd argue the opposite. Not only do I think Nvidia's revenue could get much larger from here, but the stock could produce market-beating returns for many years to come. Nvidia has more growth potential than you might think Nvidia has four main business segments: data center, gaming, professional visualization, and automotive. The data center segment is by far the most important. In simple terms, AI-focused applications require a tremendous amount of data processing ability, and Nvidia's data center accelerator products are widely considered to be the gold standard. As mentioned, the company has a dominant (estimated) 95% market share. And the industry itself is growing rapidly. Over the past year, Nvidia's data center segment sales tripled, and the $120 billion global market for data center accelerators is expected to roughly double over the next five years. Data center capital spending -- mostly by large tech companies -- is expected to reach $1 trillion annually in just three years, compared to $500 billion today. In other words, if Nvidia simply maintains its dominant market share, the largest and most critical part of its business could double or more in size by 2030. The company's other segments have lots of room to grow as well. The automotive segment is a big opportunity, as advanced autonomous vehicle technology is still in the early stages of evolution, and Nvidia already has 20 of the top 30 EV manufacturers on its customer roster. In fact, GPUs for automotive applications is expected to be a $45 billion market by 2030, and Nvidia also develops software systems, safety systems, and more for automotive applications. Capital allocation and a reasonable valuation Nvidia's free cash flow hasn't been anywhere near the current level for long, but now that the company is generating boatloads of cash, management is allocating it in shareholder-friendly ways. The company does pay a quarterly dividend, but it's a minuscule one (0.03% yield), at least for now. But buybacks are becoming an increasingly large focus of management. In the first quarter, Nvidia spent more than $14 billion on stock buybacks, which was more than half of the company's free cash flow. However, keep in mind that Nvidia's free cash flow grew by 75% year over year, and is expected to grow rapidly for at least the next few years, so it wouldn't be surprising to see buybacks expand along with it. Finally, Nvidia is not a cheap stock, trading at 48 times trailing 12-month earnings and about 34 times sales. But it isn't necessarily an expensive one. Nvidia's revenue growth (both past and projected) clearly justifies a higher P/E ratio. Analyst estimates call for 44% year-over-year earnings growth in the current fiscal year (ending January 2026) and another 34% in the following year. Plus, the combination of this growth rate and Nvidia's stellar margins (net margin over 50%) warrant an elevated price-to-sales multiple. In fact, by some popular metrics, such as the price/earnings-to-growth (PEG) ratio, Nvidia stock looks rather attractive right now. The bottom line is that a combination of a growing market opportunity, shareholder-friendly capital allocation, and a reasonable valuation could allow Nvidia to continue to grow and produce excellent returns for years to come. Windsor-Essex businesses turning to AI for a digital edge

Joe Klinger, seen on June 27, 2025, says AI has become a handy tool in managing his bicycle shop. (Travis Fortnum/CTV News Windsor) From bike shops to comedy clubs, small business owners across Windsor-Essex are finding new ways to bring artificial intelligence into their day-to-day operations — and some may be using it without even knowing it. At Kingsville Cycle Works, Joe Klinger sells, services, and rents bikes and e-bikes. Recently, he's found a unique support tool for managing tasks like inventory and program planning — an AI chatbot. 'It's invaluable, actually,' Klinger said. 'Sometimes ideas can take years right, to come together… and all of a sudden it gives you like a full business in moments.' He said he was introduced to the technology by a friend and started using it casually — even asking it for cucumber salad recipes — before realizing how effective it could be in his business. 'Try it from a personal basis first,' Klinger said. From there, Klinger leaned on resources offered by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre at Invest WindsorEssex, which hosts AI seminars and one-on-one support sessions for local entrepreneurs. AI SEMINAR An AI information seminar hosted by Invest WindsorEssex at the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Centre. (Source: Invest WindsorEssex) 'A lot of our small business clients… they're very curious about it,' said Natasha Marar, who manages marketing and entrepreneurship programs at the centre. She said the organization is working to help business owners incorporate AI tools more intentionally — not just in their marketing, but in automating tasks like generating invoices, responding to client emails and analyzing customer feedback. 'We're hoping to provide individual guidance and support and implementing these easy to use tools,' Marar said. She added that many businesses are already using AI-integrated software without realizing it. 'It's a lot of existing software they're using that already has AI embedded into it,' she said. While AI chatbots are among the most common tools being adopted, they're far from the only ones. In Windsor, comedy promoter CJ Erwin uses generative AI to design posters and promo materials for shows at Rose City Comedy. AI IMAGE An AI generated poster. (Source: CJ Erwin) 'There's plug-ins in Photoshop that let you just select pieces and then just generate AI for those pieces,' Erwin said. He said while generative AI has its critics, it fits naturally with the kind of playful, outlandish content he's creating. 'It's silly. It's not meant to be taken too seriously,' he said. 'So no one's going to complain.' Back in Kingsville, Klinger said AI is now a regular part of his business planning — and that he's working on a new project using the technology, though he's not quite ready to reveal the details. Invest WindsorEssex is preparing to launch a new Digital Adopt Accelerator Program later this summer, aimed at helping even more local business owners assess their digital readiness and begin integrating AI in ways that make sense for them.
