Gazza was admitted to an intensive care ward but has now been moved to an acute medical unit where his condition was described as stable.
Steve passed on a message for the Spurs legend and said he was in the "best possible place" as he continues his recovery.
He remains in a hospital near his home, and is expected to stay there for several days for treatment.
Steve Foster said Gazza would 'like to thank everyone for the support he's received so far from so many old friends who wish him well and want to see him back to his best'.
He added: "Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now.'
Former Spurs, Lazio and Rangers player Gascoigne is seen as one of the greatest playmakers of his generation, with a stellar club and international career.
He was capped 57 times and scored ten goals for the Three Lions between 1988 and 1998.
His tears as England crashed out of the 1990 World Cup in the semi-final against Germany touched the nation and he scored an unforgettable wonder goal at Euro 96.
His latest health scare comes after his company was shut down at the start of July when it failed to file records on time.
Companies House announced the firm has been struck off and dissolved.
Gazza was represented for years by booking agent Katie Davies, but she has now stepped back from involvement in his day-to-day life.
He was notorious for his crazy antics both on and off the field, sometimes fuelled by booze.
Speaking out during 'An Evening With Gascoigne' in Worthing, West Sussex, last year, Gazza explained why he hasn't gone into the jungle for ITV series I'm a Celeb.
He said: 'Well unfortunately right, this is truth to God, I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, the producers wanted me to go on.
'But you had to see a psychiatrist. If you pass the psychiatrist's test, you're in. I failed five f***ing times!
'And to be honest, the first time I went to see her I was on cocaine, so she must have f***ing knew.
'Second time I told her to f*** off. Third time never wanted to f***ing see her again so didn't really go down too well.
'When I say I'd like to go in there…once it starts…f*** me I'm sh*t scared. I hate f***ing snakes cos I met f***ing plenty in my career!
'I suffer from claustrophobia badly. So I'm sometimes glad I give it a miss.'
The football icon was forced to quit the Italian version of the reality TV show after an eventful 38 days on a Caribbean island for the show.
The Rangers legend made a mark on show 'Isola de Famosi' by stripping completely naked while sunbathing in 30C heat on the Caribbean island.
The star was injured as he took part in a trial to win a plate of spaghetti with meatballs and airlifted to hospital by helicopter.

Fuming Love Island fans complain to Ofcom as they accuse producers of ‘bullying' villa girl ahead of Grafties return
UNHAPPY Love Island fans have revealed that they are complaining to Ofcom after accusing show bosses of "bullying" one villa girl. Ahead of the return of the infamous Grafties, viewers of the ITV2 dating show have theorised that producers have unfairly targeted Shakira Khan. 5 5 5 Fan theories have emerged in which they have baselessly claimed that producers have unfairly picked on Shakira after her troubling time in the villa. Viewers have seen her struggle with her feelings for Harry after being caught up in one of the show's longest-running love triangles ever alongside Helana Ford. Harry has been affectionate with both women and despite making things exclusive with Helena, he has admitted to still having feelings for Shakira. Now, fans think she has been put in the firing line just in time for the annual award ceremony that is known for lifting villa secrets and causing long-lasting rifts. Hitting out at bosses, one fan wrote online: "Watching Shakira be bullied by producers has been a hard watch. Megan and Helena have said some terrible things and behaved in a disgusting manner but it is never shown. "No matter what Shakira does it is is like she is being bullied out of her sanity and out of the villa. Complain to Ofcom." Someone else similarly added: "I've logged an Ofcom complaint about the repeated attacks on Shakira by the production team." Before a fourth affirmed their plans to alert broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, writing: "Oh here we go ofcom is calling my name." It comes as The Sun told how a heartbroken Shakira threatened to quit the show and leave the villa amid her conflicting feelings for Harry as well as her recent break-up with Conor. Love Island star Harry's shock comment to Shakira revealed - just hours after going exclusive with Helena In as-yet unaired scenes, the lass from Burnley had a meltdown in the beach hut after ending her blossoming relationship with Conor over fears she'd never get over Harry. The Sun can reveal Shakira was so upset by the situation, she went to seek support from the 24/7 duty of care team and asked to leave. Bosses were able to help her through the turmoil over a number of hours and she made the decision to stay. The meltdown happened after she ended things with the Irish rugby lad. A source said: 'Shakira has been through the wringer and was already at breaking point over her heartbreak by Harry. 'When Harry made it exclusive with Helena, everything unravelled and she realised she wasn't ready to be with Conor properly. 'She did the brave thing by ending that, but then the floodgates opened and she just didn't want to be in the villa anymore. 'She went to the beach hut and asked to leave the villa. 'The duty of care team were able to help her through her emotions and she decided to stay.' Shakira has had a tumultuous time in the villa but viewers branded her decision to end it with Conor 'real'. 5 5

Fast Show actor's transgender child took own life after 'traumatic' stint in hospital, inquest hears
The transgender child of a Fast Show actor took their own life after a 'traumatic' stint in hospital, an inquest heard. Cal Shearer, 25, was found hanged at home in Oxford on October 30. The Neuroscience PHD student's famous father Paul Shearer starred on the comedy series The Fast Show between 1994 to 1997. He paid tribute to Cal, who was also autistic, at an inquest into the Oxford University student's death. Paul said: 'There were many facets to their personality. After their death, Cal's mum in a social media post said they were brave, beautiful and compassionate. 'They were capable of warmth and love. They spent many hours helping at Oxford Nightline. 'Cal's death was a tragedy and incomprehensible to those around them.' The 25-year-old had a 'long battle' with suicidal thoughts and spent two 'traumatic' months in hospital last March, Oxford Coroner's Court heard. The family launched a complaint with the Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust over the handling of their child's care, saying there should have been more done to account for Cal's autism. Dr Stephen Merson, a consultant psychiatrist at the Trust, strongly denied that the care team had been 'dismissive' of Cal's autism, when asked at the inquest. He replied: 'No. We are improving our awareness of the implications of autism. I don't think we ignored the risk aspect.' Cal, who was raised in Bethnal Green, London, met their NHS worker wife Imogen Voysey-Shearer when they were seven-years-old classmates attending the private City of London School for Girls in 2006. Imogen told the inquest she did not think the mental health team knew how to provide adequate support to her partner. She added: 'Cal was someone who everyone liked. They helped others in so many ways. 'Cal was kind, funny and compassionate. Cal was liked in every area of their life, but felt their death was inevitable. Area coroner Nicholas Graham recorded a verdict of suicide and offered his condolences to the heartbroken family. He added: 'Concerns have been raised around Cal's mental health care and treatment. 'The trust has accepted failings in these areas. It was accepted there was an absence of a documented care plan. 'The failings contributed to a deterioration in Cal's mental health which ultimately lead to their death.'
