SCR launches ‘Alpha Inspector' app for chief loco inspectors

The Hindu09-06-2025

South Central Railway (SCR) GM Arun Kumar Jain has launched the 'Alpha Inspector' Application - a web and mobile platform leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and GPS technologies.
Designed to enhance chief loco inspectors' efficiency, the application automates movement tracking and record-keeping, reducing manual workload.
It provides real-time access to loco pilot (LP) and assistant loco pilot (ALP) operational data, enabling quicker responses to anomalies at divisional and zonal levels.
Earlier, he held a video conference with his divisional managers where he reiterated that safety is paramount in railway operations, emphasising strict adherence to safety protocols and the avoidance of shortcut methods.
Special emphasis was placed on safety measures at road under bridges (RUBs) and level crossings, with instructions to install at least two height gauges at all RUBs to enhance track safety.
Addressing recent incidents, he reviewed cattle run-over cases, stressing the necessity of pro-active measures to prevent disruptions in train movement. The status of fencing along vulnerable track sections was also examined.
On Saturday, the GM had flagged off and pedalled during the 'Fit India Cyclothon' event along with other officials at Railway Sports Complex, Secunderabad.
The event was organised by SCR Sports Association as part of the Khelo India Scheme's FIT INDIA initiative and with an objective of integrating fitness into the daily routine.
