Bharuch : Bhoomi Chauhan, a resident of Gujarat's Bharuch, narrowly escaped death when she missed Thursday's ill-fated flight which crashed, claiming the lives of 241 people on board the Boeing 787-8, Air India flight 171, including 12 crew members, Air India confirmed post-midnight on Friday.
While speaking to ANI on Friday, Chauhan recounted her experience, 'We arrived at the check-in gate 10 minutes late, but they didn't allow me, and I returned. They said that it would delay the flight further. I was late because of traffic in the Ahmedabad city area. When I came to know that the flight had crashed, I was totally numb. I thank my mother Goddess that I am safe, but the incident is absolutely terrifying.'
Chauhan's mother attributed her daughter's survival to the blessings of the Mother Goddess, telling ANI, 'We thank Mother Goddess for protecting my daughter. She left her child with me, and it's all because of the Mother Goddess blessings; because of that child, she is with me..'
Chauhan's father explained that traffic congestion had caused them to arrive late at the airport, and despite their requests, they were not allowed to board the flight. 'We arrived at the airport late because of traffic. We requested, but they didn't allow us. When we came out of the airport, we received the news that the plane had crashed.'

Air India pilot collapses moments before flying Delhi-bound plane in Bengaluru, airline says ‘in hospital but stable'

An Air India Delhi-bound flight was delayed in the early hours of July 4 after the pilot collapsed shortly before take-off and was rushed to the hospital in Bengaluru, an Air India spokesperson said. Flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi was delayed and operated by another member of the airlines cockpit crew, the spokesperson said. The pilot is stable but is still under observation in the hospital, the spokesperson added. 'There was a medical emergency involving one of our pilots in the early hours of 04 July. As a result, the pilot was unable to operate the flight AI2414 from Bengaluru to Delhi, that he was rostered for, and was taken to a local hospital immediately,' the spokesperson said. A PTI report quoting sources said that the pilot was in the cockpit and was about to sign the mandatory documents – tech log – to accept the aircraft for flying when he collapsed there. 'He is currently stable but continues to be under the supervision of doctors at the same hospital. Consequently, AI2414 was delayed and operated by another member of our cockpit crew. Our immediate priority is to assist the pilot and his family to ensure his speedy recovery,' the statement added. Air India cancelled its New Delhi to Washington DC flight on Wednesday after a technical issue during a routine stopover in Vienna led to extended maintenance work, an airline spokesperson said. According to an ANI report, the onward Vienna-Washington segment was cancelled, and all passengers were disembarked in Vienna. The disruption also led to the cancellation of the return flight AI104 from Washington, DC to Delhi via Vienna. Air India stated that affected passengers have been rebooked on alternate services or offered full refunds, depending on their preferences. "Flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, DC on 2 July 2025 made a planned fuel stop in Vienna. During routine aircraft checks, an extended maintenance task was identified, which required rectification before the next flight and, thus, additional time for completion," an airline spokesperson said in a statement. "Due to this, the Vienna to Washington, DC leg was cancelled, and passengers were disembarked. Passengers eligible for visa-free entry or those with valid Schengen visas were provided with hotel accommodations in Vienna until the next available flight. For those without entry permission, accommodations are being arranged, pending immigration and security clearances by Austrian authorities. Consequently, flight AI104 from Washington, DC, to Delhi via Vienna was also cancelled, and the affected passengers have been rebooked on alternative flights to Delhi or offered full refunds based on their preferences," the airline added. ITC Maurya: A home to iconic work of legendary artist Krishen Khanna

New Delhi [India], July 4 (ANI): Besides warm hospitality, ITC Hotels are known for their fascinating architecture. Artwork is quite integral to them. Under the aegis of WelcomArt- ITC Hotels' pan-India Responsible Luxury initiative, artwork has been showcased in various forms throughout the country. ITC Hotels has been one of the first hotel brands to identify the significance of promoting Indian art across various hotel touchpoints. Rooted in the ethos of the region, each ITC Hotel has a distinct identity, bringing alive facets of the destination through architecture, design, weaves, artefacts and art. If we speak about ITC Maurya, it is a tribute to the great Mauryan Dynasty (circa 322 to 185 BC) which gave Indian history the Golden Age of art and architecture. The theme and architectural features of the hotel dictated the choice and subjects that formed the nucleus of the major artworks at the hotel. Inspired by the universal teachings of Gautama Buddha, Mauryan Emperor Ashoka, renounced war and spread the message of peace throughout his kingdom. The ITC Maurya in New Delhi resonates with Mauryan history and art. If you stop by the lobby, you will definitely leave in awe after witnessing the huge dome, which displays 'The Great Procession', a mural by Krishen Khanna. This mural, one of ITC Maurya's first artworks, took more than four years to complete in 1979 and it is perhaps one of India's biggest artworks at any hotel. The painting is done onto the curved surface of the lobby dome with spectacular visual angles, bringing together a fusion of Mauryan past and present, still fresh and rich in cultural context. As legendary artist Krishen Khanna celebrates his centennial birthday on July 5, 2025, the ITC Maurya in New Delhi pays tribute to his legacy by highlighting one of his most iconic creations--'The Great Procession.' Amaan Kidwai, Area Manager Luxury Hotels (North) & General Manager ITC Maurya, said, 'Krishen Khanna was instrumental in engaging several distinguished artists to contribute to the Mauryan-inspired theme of ITC Maurya. We are truly honoured and delighted to celebrate Mr. Khanna's 100th birthday with him at ITC Maurya, beneath this timeless piece of art created by him nearly 5 decades ago.' He added, 'As a flagship property, ITC Maurya showcases one of the world's most beautiful collections of contemporary masterpieces of Indian art by globally renowned Indian artists.' (ANI)

He also stated that the entire process will be digital and that food choices will also be tailored to regional preferences. 'The entire process will be digital... We will provide food choices state-wise so that pilgrims can eat food to their taste,' the Union Minister added. Earlier today, during the Haj review meeting, Rijiju said, 'Haj 2025 was one of the most successful ever.' 'We will build on this success to ensure an even more seamless experience in 2026,' he affirmed.
