Rebecca Loos shares 'special' details about David Beckham alleged 'affair' on Celebrity SAS

David Beckham's ex-PA has addressed the scandal on the Channel 4 reality show. Rebecca Loos has addressed the David Beckham "affair" scandal in scenes set to air on Celebrity SAS as she admitted: "He always made me feel very special." The former personal assistant (PA), 48, is starring on Channel 4's toughest reality show, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. It's a step back into public life after she shied away from it. It's been more than 20 years since Loos sold her story in 2004 to the now-defunct newspaper News of the World, claiming she had an affair with the footballer who is married to Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham; the Beckhams have always denied the claims. Now Loos' life looks totally different: she's moved to Norway, works as a yoga teacher and has children of her own. Her peace and quiet was disturbed when Beckham and his wife Victoria spoke about the impact the scandal had on their marriage in their Netflix docuseries in 2023. It isn't long before Loos brings up the Beckham situation on Celebrity SAS as seen in scenes on Sunday. "I wouldn't say the British press have been kind in how they have portrayed me because of the Beckham situation," she told the cameras for Celebrity SAS. "I have been accused of being a liar, a slut, a sleazy senorita but I'm not used to being shouted at by bulky men so that's new for me!" After failing the first task, Loos faces a grilling from the Directing Staff where she talks about the scandal. The yoga teacher said she has no regrets. "Lessons learned," she said, alluding to the Beckham scenario. "If I went back in time of course [I'd do things differently]." Rebecca Loos speaks about David Beckham scandal Asked how she felt about it, she reveals: "I was his PA, personal assistant. He always made me feel very special. But it was no big deal, I still did my job. I didn't fancy him that much in the beginning anyway. On the first night I was with him, I said to him, 'You must do this all the time'. "I thought I was a little bit of fun for him. He said to me, 'No I've never done this before.' He could have said, 'Yeah I've had loads of girls. I'm just having some fun.' Fine by me, I know where I'm going in." Loos says she didn't expect anything. "The fact that he lied to me the whole time, that p***ed me off," she says. The former PA explains why she gave that tell-all interview to the News of the World. She says: "I was unhappy with the way I had been treated. So I didn't want to go around anymore, carrying this secret. Rumours that were spreading, journalists were getting in touch, in the end I decided it was better it comes from me. So I gave an interview, thinking it would be something and it ended up being something else. I spent a few years trying to see if I can get it back." Beckham's ex-PA went through 'hell' With time to reflect on her own, Loos claims it was unfair Beckham's life flourished while she went through "hell". She says: "I do look back at who i was in my 20s and the only ever focus is on the f***ing beckham situation. It felt injust [unjust] that my life was pretty hell and his career and his life kept blossoming. That didn't feel quite right, still doesn't. I think I've taken most of the blame for what happened, rightly so it was part of my life. We were two. He was older of me and he was my boss." She adds: "You can't change the things that happened is my attitude. I roll my sleeves and get on with it. Everything I have experienced has brought me to where I am today. It's made me a little bit stronger." Why is Rebecca Loos speaking out now? The Netflix documentary Beckham seems to be the driving factor behind her speaking out on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. She says: "When the Beckham documentary [Netflix's Beckham] came out, I was taken completely by surprise. Him trying to portray an image of perfection that was nothing like reality… "The way our relationship was spoken about and the fact that no responsibility for his actions was reignited. It was like reliving 2004 all over again except this time we have the added dynamic of social media." What have the Beckhams said? In 2023, the Beckhams spoke about the scandal on their Netflix docuseries. They have always denied the affair. Speaking openly about it for the first time, they shared the "hurt" and the impact the headlines had on their marriage. Mrs Beckham said: "It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us. Here's the thing — we were against each other if I'm being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other. "But when we were in Spain, it didn't really feel like we had each other either. And that's sad. I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare. It was an absolute circus — and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you're in it." Her husband added: "Victoria is everything to me, to see her hurt was incredibly difficult. But we're fighters, and at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family, but it was worth fighting for. Ultimately it is our private life." Yahoo UK has reached out to David Beckham and Victoria Beckham's representatives for further comment. Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins will return to our screens on Channel 4 at 9pm on August 3.

Parent Trap star open to a reboot — under one condition

The Parent Trap star Lisa Ann Walter is fully on board for a reboot of the hit 1998 film — as long as the writer stays the same. 'One hundred percent if Nancy Meyers wrote it,' Walter said at a recent Abbott Elementary event. Meyers co-wrote The Parent Trap, which also marked her feature film directorial debut. She, of course, went on to write some of the biggest rom-coms in history, including Something's Gotta Give, The Holiday, and It's Complicated. The Parent Trap not only launched her career as a director but also established her signature cozy, aspirational aesthetic Speaking further to her idea of a reboot, Walter, who played housekeeper Chessy in the hit 1998 film, said she would want fellow stars Lindsay Lohan and Dennis Quaid involved, too. 'Dennis [Quaid] has said that he doesn't think it's doable without Natasha, and I understand that,' Walter said of British actor Richardson, who died in 2009 at age 45 after a ski accident. 'The movie — it's a kids' story, but it's a love story. So to have a love story that involves that grief, that sadness — if it was written beautifully, maybe it's doable.' The film, which was a remake of the 1961 original, catapulted Lohan to fame as she portrayed twins Hallie and Annie James, who were separated by their parents shortly after birth. The twins, who were living across the pond from one another, connect on a whim at a summer camp their respective parents sent them to. Quaid starred as the twins' father, Nick Parker, while Richardson played their mother, Elizabeth James. Elaine Hendrix played Quaid's new love interest, Meredith Blake, and remains close with Walter, who told People the two 'talk literally every day.' Walter also keeps in touch with her other castmates, including Lohan. 'Lindsay will DM me on Instagram,' Walter shared. 'I text her father here and there — like, 'Lindsay wanted me to tell you so and so,'' she continued. During the pandemic, Walter even found herself delivering homemade meals to Quaid's house, not unlike Chessy would do for Nick Parker in the film. 'I was cooking for everybody I knew,' she told People. 'I made big pans of food and had them delivered to his house because he had his kids over there.' Walter has since gone on to star in the films Bruce Almighty and Shall We Dance? and has been a cast member on the acclaimed series Abbott Elementary since 2021. Solve the daily Crossword

The YouTube-ification of streaming? Why Netflix is making big deals with YouTubers

YouTube-ification? Is that a thing? It appears to be what's happening now with Netflix and other streaming services. Some of YouTube's hottest creators are landing lucrative deals to bring their shows to even wider audiences on streaming services where bigger production budgets mean they can take their content to the next level. Beloved children's educator and entertainer Ms. Rachel has done just that with her bubbly, toddler-friendly learning videos, which have amassed more than 11 billion views on her YouTube channel. The creator, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, partnered with Netflix earlier this year to license four existing episodes for the streamer while still continuing to upload monthly content for her 16 million YouTube subscribers. It's a similar story for the Sidemen, a collective of seven British YouTubers who carry out wild stunts and do sketch comedy. They inked a deal with Netflix last year that saw them take their second season over to that platform, after saying they had hit the ceiling with what they could do at YouTube. It may seem that Netflix and its fellow streaming giants are trying to scoop up talent from a platform that already made creators famous — and rich, thanks to ads, sponsorships and other revenues. But as Netflix and YouTube vie for the eyeballs on TV sets, Netflix (and other streamers) are increasingly using YouTube to test the waters for the kind of content viewers will flock to. Philip Mai, co-director of the Social Media Lab at Toronto Metropolitan University, says companies like Netflix are trying to "meet the viewers where they are" and attract them with content without the risk of investing in an original production that may flop. Clash of the video titans YouTube has more than 2.7 billion active monthly users worldwide logging on to its website and mobile app to watch everything from viral videos to news reports and series that are created by individual users and independent content production companies. Netflix, however, has dominated the subscription-based video streaming market for years and has been an industry leader in creating original series and movies — and it's continuing to grow. The company's chief financial officer, Spencer Neumann, said in March that the streamer is "not anywhere near a ceiling" when it comes to spending money on both licensed and original content. He estimated Netflix would spend $18 billion US on content this year alone, according to Variety. LISTEN | How Ms. Rachel translated kid-friendly content to success — and a Netflix deal: He recognized there's stiff competition when it comes to viewers who are increasingly watching YouTube on their television sets, not just on its website or mobile app. But Nemann said what set them apart, when it comes to content, is that Netflix shares "in the creative and economic risk with our creators," where as YouTube creators often start to build their content and audiences on their own. But that's exactly why Mai says YouTube has become a testing ground for the streaming companies. He says it allows them to watch what becomes popular and then approaching creators about the possibility of licensing their content or collaborating on a series. "It's a cheaper way of doing development, without having to pay for the pilot," he said. Called up to the big leagues That's what happened with The Amazing Digital Circus, an animated series created by independent Glitch Productions, based in Sydney, Australia. The series only has five 25-ish-minute episodes on YouTube, but those have racked up a combined 750 million views since premiering in October 2023. Kevin Lerdwichagul, Glitch's co-founder and CEO, said Netflix came knocking about six months after they dropped the pilot episode. He compares it to being like a comedian scouted by a network television show while performing at open mic night. "The new version of that is like going to YouTube and you're hoping someone like Netflix sees your product and then brings you along," he told CBC News. WATCH | Trailer for the hit YouTube series The Amazing Digital Circus: Lerdwichagul says the audience for the series is teens and young adults, which remains a strong demographic for YouTube — and why it has no plans to abandon the platform — but going to a streaming service as well allows people "outside of that demographic circle" to discover the show. "Our friends [and] parents started watching Digital Circus once and moved to Netflix," he said, adding that another Glitch series called Murder Drums has made its way to Amazon Prime. What we're watching on the TV YouTube is also adapting to make content more easily viewed on televisions — and in ways that also make it easier for content to be adapted for streamers — such as allowing creators to make episodic content and have seasons. That's because more and more people are watching YouTube, Netflix and other streaming services on their TVs. But YouTube is the juggernaut. In June of this year, YouTube accounted for 12.8 per cent of TV viewing, a number that has been rising consistently for the past year, according to ratings tracker Nielsen. As for the streamers, Netflix still has the most eyeballs on it, with 8.3 per cent, followed by Disney (encompassing Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+) with 4.8 per cent. As such, Andrew Peterson, who is YouTube's head of content partnerships in Canada, says it's not a surprise that streamers are keeping a close eye on YouTube content. "We really see YouTube as the foundational home for so much creativity, where creators can build that audience," he said. WATCH | Quebec pushing for streaming giants to add more French-language content: YouTube not a pipeline to steaming platforms What is different about YouTube, says Peterson, is that creators can grow their channels and brands without the backing of a production studio or steaming deal and still hit it big. Brandon Katz, director of insights and content strategy at U.S.-based Greenlight Analytics, says you only have to look to YouTube success story MrBeast as evidence. The channel, created by American YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, is the most-subscribed on the platform with a whopping 418 million followers. Amazon Prime Video and production house Amazon MGM Studios scored a highly sought after deal with Donaldson in 2024, shelling out a reported $100 million US for him to create Beast Games, with players taking part in what has been dubbed the biggest reality competition series ever in pursuit of a $5-million US prize. The first season was produced in Toronto and it was renewed earlier this year for Season 2. But Katz says it's only the "cream of the crop" that will can "successfully transition to more traditional entertainment." "You have to have a huge footprint already," he said. "You have have to content that is tailored to a new platform." At the same time, he says, YouTube remains lucrative for the top content creators like MrBeast and Ms. Rachel who have become popular enough to expand their empires. "The longer they exist on YouTube, the greater their following grows," he said, explaining that means they continue to make more off ads and sponsorships. "There's no way massive top one per cent creators are going to want to sacrifice all that." WATCH | How MrBeast made it big on YouTube:
