Can virtual classrooms make art more interesting for students?

Art and culture have always played a significant role in the all-round development of students. It helps them develop a wider perspective of different histories and cultures across the world. Traditional methods for learning about art were limited to visiting museums, reading books, attending art exhibitions and physical workshops. Today, this has changed due to digital learning and virtual setups. The Internet has made art and cultural education more easily accessible to all. For instance, students in India can learn about Impressionist painting techniques from an expert in Italy, while someone from the East Asia can learn about Indian dance forms. These interactions offer unlimited opportunities for cross cultural exchange. Beyond physical surroundings As students grow older, their external and internal pressures mount, leaving them with little time for art and cultural classes. Currently, most institutions have neither the financial strength nor trained teachers to make multiple options available to students. Virtual classes open up a wide range of opportunities to take on a hobby or pursue as a skill. For example, a student from India can blend the sound of the tabla with an African instrument to create a unique melody. Virtual classes allow the flexibility for students to access them in real time or recorded sessions later at their convenience. One of the biggest challenges in traditional art education was the heavy focus on theory. Virtual classrooms, however, make learning more engaging by integrating modern digital tools such as live demonstrations where students can ask questions and receive real-time feedback. Today, AI has made it possible to experience tours of temples, museums and galleries sitting in the comfort of one's home. Challenges However, virtual interactions do have a few drawbacks. Usually teaching and learning art is a very personal and hands-on experience. A student of classical dance, for example, is guided by a teacher over many years in perfecting the art form. This experience is missed in virtual learning and teachers may also find it challenging to teach without in-person interactions to provide corrective feedback. Another challenge is the digital divide. Not all locations have high-speed internet and many students might face technical glitches or audio disturbances. One more aspect is the lack a structured classroom setup, which gives a focused environment and discipline. Further, physical classes allow peer interaction, which helps learning. Lastly, virtual classes may not give students the kind of engagement that physical art classes provide. The spirited energy, the collaborative environment, and the vibrancy of a physical classroom may be absent in a virtual setup. However, virtual classes can help promote collaborations, community building, and joint ventures that help in broaden artistic perspectives and encourage innovation. As technology continues to evolve, virtual classrooms will play a prominent role in shaping the future of art education. With advancements in AI-powered art tools, interactive 3D models, and immersive virtual exhibitions, learning art will become more dynamic and accessible than ever before. Nehru Zoo Park to acquire 250+ species, including cheetahs

Hyderabad: A host of new animals are on their way to the Nehru Zoological Park, including several exotic species, according to the Director of NZP, Sunil S Hiremath. Notably, zoo authorities have revealed plans to introduce three cheetahs as part of this expansion. The zoo currently houses 195 species, but the director states that the aim is to increase this number to over 250 within a few months. "Our goal is to create an environment within the zoo where every animal feels safe and comfortable enough to breed. We are already achieving this with several endangered species such as the one-horned rhinoceros — of which the zoo has five — and the Royal Bengal Tiger, with 28 currently in our care," the director said. "We want to continue expanding our collection and acquire animals that will be of interest to visitors. " The zoo has been actively expanding its animal population since the beginning of the year. In April, it received an Indian gazelle, a swamp deer, cheer pheasants, and Siamese crocodiles through exchange programmes with various zoos across the country. Two serval cats were also put on display this past Sunday. According to zoo officials, the first new arrival expected is a wallaby, which is set to reach the zoo within two months, having been procured from a private vendor. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Search For Direct Scaffolding Deals Direct Scaffolding Deals | Search Ads Learn More Undo Plans are also in place to expand the primate section, with efforts underway to bring in gorillas, chimpanzees, baboons, hoolock gibbons, and white-handed gibbons, all classified as endangered. The director said a verbal agreement had been reached to acquire cheetahs from a zoo in Asia in exchange for a one-horned rhinoceros, but it may take some time. "The deal is still in its preliminary stages. So far, discussions have only taken place via a third party, but I am pushing for a direct meeting soon. The enclosure and all facilities to accommodate the cheetahs are in place, we just need to bring them here," he added. If the deal is finalised, Nehru Zoological Park will become only the second zoo in the country, after the Mysore Zoo, to house cheetahs.

‘Did The Last One Get Eaten?': Internet Laughs At African Cheetah Monitor Job Vacancy

An African wildlife conservancy is hiring a full-time cheetah monitor to track and care for cheetahs in the wild. Panyame Wildlife Conservancy, located in Mozambique, is getting a lot of attention online after posting a unique job opening on social media. The conservancy, known for its cheetah reintroduction efforts, announced that it is looking to hire a full-time cheetah monitor, but the internet has found the job description amusing and misunderstood it in the funniest way. On July 15, the conservancy shared an Instagram post about the vacancy. The role involves tracking and monitoring cheetahs across the vast land of the conservancy, taking care of them in bomas (enclosures), and working closely with anti-poaching teams. What the Job Actually Involves The job requirements are fairly standard: applicants must be fluent in English, physically fit, and 'bush-ready", meaning comfortable working in the wild. They should also have experience with Excel and data handling. Knowing Portuguese and Shona is considered a bonus. 'We're Hiring – Full-Time Cheetah Monitor. Join the Panyame Cheetah Project in the heart of wild Mozambique," the post reads. 'We're looking for a committed, hands-on field assistant to live full-time at our remote bush camp and help monitor, track, and care for the cheetahs we've translocated to the Panyame Conservancy. From feeding cheetahs in the bomas to tracking them across 210,000 hectares using telemetry and EarthRanger, this is real conservation in action," the post adds. How the Internet Reacted The post quickly went viral, gathering over 41,000 likes, 64,000 shares, and thousands of comments. However, many social media users misread the job description and took it in a different (and funnier) direction, leading to a flood of hilarious comments. A user joked, 'Do the cheetahs speak English and use Excel, or do I have to train them?" Another joked, 'Do they respond to pspspsps?" People were also curious (and worried) about the fate of the last employee, with comments like, 'What happened to the last employees?" and 'Did the last one get eaten?" An individual joked about the job description's emphasis on physical fitness: 'Physically fit? Do I need to run with them?" Meanwhile, someone else asked, 'Can I take my cheetah home if I'm working from home?" Despite the jokes, the post has caught the world's attention and might just find the brave soul ready to take on this wild role. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
