
Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines commence daily flights from Manila to Doha as part of strategic partnership
The new partnership allows passengers flying from Manila to Doha to perfectly connect to the airline's unparalleled global network of over 170 destinations via Hamad International Airport.
Commemorating the occasion were officials and executive representatives from both the Qatari and Filipino sides, Qatar Airways said, noting that travellers from key markets such as the Brazil, Spain, United Kingdom and United States can enjoy greater choice and enhanced connectivity with Qatar Airways, when planning their trips to the Philippines.
Qatar Airways currently serves four key cities in the Philippines - the capital city of Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao - providing passengers with convenient entry points to some of the county's most dynamic and culturally rich destinations, Qatar Airways said.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori said: "Qatar Airways is proud to celebrate the start of codeshare flights with Philippine Airlines. This daily service marks the beginning of a strong partnership between our two airlines, paving the way for even closer ties between the Philippines and Qatar for the benefit of both business and leisure travel."
He continued: "We welcome Philippine Airlines to our unrivalled portfolio of airline partnerships which encompasses some of the best airlines in the world. By working closely with Philippine Airlines, we will offer our customers from around the world a seamless travel experience and greater choice for connections to and from the Philippines, through the best hub in the Middle East: Hamad International Airport in Doha."
Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall said: "Our strategic partnership with Qatar Airways puts our valued guests in the forefront and enables us to draw from our respective strengths. Together, we can focus clearly on further developing the Philippines-Qatar air travel market while ensuring seamless connections across our respective networks."
The daily nonstop flights will be operated on Philippine Airlines'long-range Airbus A330-300 aircraft in a dual-class configuration, featuring 18 flat-bed seats in an exclusive Business Class cabin and 341 seats in the main Economy Class cabin.

MoT undersecretary inaugurates Qatar's 1st maritime training, simulation centre at UDST
DOHA: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Maadeed and President of University of Doha for Science and Technology Dr Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi have inaugurated the Maritime Training and Simulation Center (MTSC) at the UDST. The MTSC, the first of its kind in Qatar, is designed to empower current and future maritime professionals with internationally accredited skills and hands-on simulation experience, positioning Qatar as a regional leader in maritime training and innovation. The MTSC provides an interactive learning environment with modern classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art simulation technologies of Classes A and C, featuring navigation and full-mission engine simulation rooms, and maritime safety training facilities including for firefighting and first aid. The MTSC offers specialized training programs recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Following the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by multiple high-profile Qatari officials and maritime industry experts, Al Maadeed toured the facility and was briefed on its services. He also attended an interactive presentation on some of the cutting-edge simulation technologies. The inauguration followed the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Transport and UDST, formalizing a long-term partnership to advance Qatar's maritime capabilities. Signed by Al Maadeed and Dr Al Naemi, the MoU reflects a mutual commitment to developing a future-ready workforce through specialized training programs, international certifications, and collaborative research. It also lays the foundation for sustained cooperation in knowledge exchange and capacity building, driving the growth, resilience, and regional and global competitiveness of Qatar's maritime industry. On this occasion, Al Maadeed said, "Inaugurating the MTSC today marks a significant milestone embodying Qatari educational institution's commitment to enhancing the country's maritime infrastructure and capabilities through such training facilities equipped with state-of-the-art world technologies. As the global maritime landscape evolves, preparing our workforce to lead with expertise and resilience is essential.' Qatar Airways announces resumption of its operations to Malta
DOHA: Qatar Airways has announced the resumption of its operations with four non-stop flights a week between Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Malta International Airport (MLA). The latest addition to the airline's network in Europe affirms its commitment to maintaining global connectivity. QCB announces changes in one riyal banknote
DOHA: Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced changes in the one riyal denomination of the fifth series of banknotes. The new edition will include changes in the official state emblem, arabic numerals, and issue date, QCB said. QCB said the previous edition of the Qatari riyal (Fifth Series) will remain in circulation, and the change will be applied to other currency denominations at a later date. The change was implemented to align with the laws in force in the country, QCB further said.
