RACINE COUNTY - A 33-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol on Monday night, June 9 for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 7th offense.

A Wisconsin State Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding northbound on I-94 at County Highway K in Racine County.
When speaking with the driver, the trooper observed the driver's slurred speech and the odor of intoxicants. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were completed, and the driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 7th offense.
A warrant was obtained to complete a legal blood draw, and the subject was booked into the Racine County Jail without incident.

Judge rejects doubling bond for man charged with drunkenly driving against Lake Station parade
A judge rejected a Lake County deputy prosecutor's bid Wednesday to double Richard Yakel's bond to $15,000 for allegedly driving drunk against the Lake Station Independence Day parade. His BAC was 0.355%, the detective said – over four times the legal limit. Deputy Prosecutor Madeline Clement argued Yakel was a flight risk and danger to the community. Defense lawyer Lonnie Randolph II retorted that paying a $150,000, or $15,000 cash bond, was setting the bar so high that no reasonable person could afford it — essentially keeping any poor person in jail. He admitted Yakel had OWI cases from 1994, 2008 and 2014. Clement argued it was a pattern. Judge Salvador Vasquez agreed with Randolph, saying he couldn't remember a move to hike a bond like that in over a decade. However, if Yakel posted bond, he ordered him to be on a SCRAM monitor to track his drinking and home detention. Randolph also argued his client's SUV could have had 'mechanical problems' that explained why he didn't stop when a police officer tried to pull him over. Vasquez ordered that the vehicle be checked out at a Portage home at a later date.

Fisherman finds pickup truck submerged in a Wisconsin river
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) – Crews worked Monday evening to remove a pickup truck from a river in western Wisconsin after a fisherman reported the submerged vehicle, officials say. According to a release from the Eau Claire Fire Rescue, a fisherman notified officials at 5:32 p.m. that they believed they had found a pickup truck submerged in a section of the Chippewa River. Two men hurt in Sheboygan crash, one driver arrested for OWI Crews responded to an area of water near the Riverview Boat Landing in Eau Claire and used sonar equipment to confirm that there was a vehicle submerged in the river. The Eau Claire Fire Rescue's Dive Team was called in and found the pickup truck just in front of the landing. The truck was said to be unoccupied at the time. Divers were able to assist A to Z Towing in salvage and recovery operations. No other information is available as officials are working to identify the owner of the pickup truck. 37-year-old Wisconsin man arrested for 3rd OWI after being clocked at nearly 100mph, had revoked license
MONONA, Wis. (WFRV) – A 37-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested for a third Operating While Intoxicated offense on Friday morning after an officer clocked him at nearly 100 miles per hour. The Monona Police Department reported that an officer witnessed a vehicle speeding along U.S. 12 shortly before 1 a.m., clocking the driver at 99 miles per hour. According to the release, the officer noted an odor of intoxication coming from the suspect vehicle, and the driver admitted to drinking before the stop. The suspect driver, identified as 37-year-old Ricardo Medina of Verona, had a revoked license on their record with two prior OWI convictions. Medina reportedly refused to submit to a field sobriety test, as well as declined consent for a blood sample. According to the police report, Medina was taken to a local emergency room, and the officer's request for a blood search warrant was approved. Medina reportedly indicated that he would fight to prevent a blood draw, prompting additional officers to be requested as possible backup. Motorcyclist crashes stolen bike after police chase in Wisconsin Medina was served with a warrant and subsequently had blood drawn without a further incident, despite reportedly demanding that officers let him go and take him home throughout the full situation.
