Manchester City re-Signs former goalkeeper James Trafford

London – Saba: English Premier League club Manchester City announced on Tuesday the signing of their former goalkeeper James Trafford on a five-year contract, marking their sixth signing of the summer transfer window. In a statement published on the club's official website, the Citizens said: "Manchester City is pleased to confirm the signing of James Trafford from Burnley." The statement added:"The 22-year-old English goalkeeper has completed his move to the Etihad Stadium, signing a five-year contract that runs until June 2030." Trafford, a former England U-21 international, spent nearly eight years in Manchester City's youth academy before joining Burnley's Turf Moor in 2023. Over the past two seasons in East Lancashire, Trafford established himself as one of the most sought-after young goalkeepers in Europe. He played a key role in Scott Parker's side returning to the Premier League this season, keeping 29 clean sheets in 45 matches and earning a spot in the Championship Team of the Year. According to English media, the transfer fee for Trafford was €31.20 million, generating a profit of nearly €14 million for Burnley, who originally signed him for €17.30 million. Trafford becomes City's sixth summer signing, following Dutchman Tijjani Reijnders, Frenchman Rayan Cherki, Norwegian youngster Sverre Nypan, Algerian Rayan Aït-Nouri, and Marcus Bettinelli.
