QC takes part in IRU general assembly meet

Qatar Chamber recently took part in the general assembly meeting of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The chamber was represented by Eng Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misned, board member, president of the Qatar Association for Freight Forwarding and Logistics (QAFL), and vice chair of the Region Africa and Middle East (RAME) for the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).
The meeting featured a roundtable on road transport and competitiveness and covered key agenda items, including the speech of IRU President Radu Dinescu, the general assembly and financial reports, and a review of the IRU Award for Top Road Transport Managers 2025.
In statements, Al Misned emphasised that such meetings serve as a strategic international platform for enhancing cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the fields of transport and logistics. He noted that they open broader avenues for member countries to achieve integration and competitiveness across land and logistics supply chains.
'Our participation in this important event reflects Qatar's commitment to reinforcing its position as an integrated logistics hub and advancing infrastructure development to facilitate regional and international land trade,' he said.
He underscored the rapid changes underway in the global road transport sector, which call for deeper cooperation and the adoption of smart, sustainable solutions.
He also highlighted Qatar Chamber's dedication to playing an active role in shaping the future of transportation through its contributions to the IRU.
Al Misned further highlighted the importance of digital transformation and the need to enhance the competitiveness of the transportation sector.
He referred to the initiatives outlined in the IRU's collective call to action titled 'Driving Competitiveness – A Collective Call to Action', which emphasises innovation, collaboration, and policy alignment to strengthen global transport systems.
He also underscored the importance of supporting the IRU's efforts in training and talent development, particularly through initiatives such as the IRU Award for Top Road Transport Managers 2025. He affirmed that investing in human capital remains a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development in the transport and logistics sector.

Qatari, Saudi chambers discuss food security, environment investments
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Chamber hosted on Wednesday a joint meeting between its Food Security and Environment Committee and the Environment Committee of the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Saudi Arabia. The meeting, held at the Chamber's headquarters, was chaired by Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidli, QC Board Member and Chairman of the Food Security & Environment Committee, and Fahd bin Quryan Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the Environment Committee of the Eastern Chamber. The meeting was also attended by members of both committees, along with Hamad Ali Al-Marri, Director of the Committees and Business Councils Affairs Department at the Qatar Chamber. The meeting discussed ways to foster cooperation between the two chambers in environmental aspects and the role of sectoral committees in supporting these efforts. It reviewed the activities of the Environment Committee in addressing sectoral challenges and obstacles and encouraging investors from both countries to collaborate and forge partnerships in relevant sectors, as well askey investment opportunities available in both Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Speaking at the meeting, Mohamed Al-Obaidli emphasised that there are numerous areas for cooperation between Qatari and Saudi companies in the fields of food security and environment sectors. He noted that both countries offer a host of attractive incentives and facilities to encourage investment in these vital sectors. In turn, Fahad Al-Qahtani welcomed Qatari investors to invest in his country and cooperate with their Saudi counterparts in joint venues that are of good advantage for both economies, noting that there is a plenty of opportunities available for cooperation between the two sides.

QC takes part in fourth Arab-British economic summit
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Chamber participated in the 4th Arab British Economic Summit, recently held in London, the United Kingdom. The chamber's delegation was headed by QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani, and included board members Rashid bin Nasser Al Kaabi and Ibtihaj Al Ahmadani, along with a number of Qatari businessmen. The summit, organised by the Arab British Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers, aimed to enhance cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Arab world. It addressed the strategic partnership between the UK and Arab countries, particularly in the fields of sustainable tourism, e-commerce, franchising, banking, and the financial sector. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, who is also the First Vice President of the Arab British Chamber of Commerce, emphasised the depth of relations between the Arab world and the UK, describing them as historic and robust, encompassing all aspects and sectors, especially in the fields of economy and mutual investment. In his remarks on the sidelines of the summit, Sheikh Khalifa also praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and the UK, noting that Qatari investments in Britain play a significant role in the British economy. He further indicated that the UK is an important trading partner for Qatar, with the volume of trade exchange reaching QR7.5 billion in 2024, of which QR 6.1 billion were Qatari exports to Britain.

QC participates in St Petersburg economic forum
Tribune News Network Doha Qatar Chamber participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from June 18 to 21. Qatar Chamber was represented at the event by Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al-Misnad, Board Member of Qatar Chamber and Chairman of the Qatari side of the Qatari-Russian Joint Business Council. On the sidelines of the forum, Al-Misnad held several meetings with Russian business leaders and economic officials to discuss trade and economic cooperation between the two friendly countries and explore ways to strengthen these ties. The discussions also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Qatari-Russian Joint Business Council in fostering business relations, enhancing communication between Qatari and Russian entrepreneurs, and promoting mutual partnerships and investment opportunities in both countries. Al-Misnad reaffirmed Qatar Chamber's commitment to enhancing trade relations and increasing bilateral trade. He emphasized the Qatari private sector's interest in expanding cooperation with its Russian counterpart, aiming to elevate collaboration to new levels and position Qatar as a key hub for Russian trade in the region. He further noted the Chamber's support for fostering partnerships between Qatari and Russian companies, as well as creating a conducive environment for building mutually beneficial business and investment alliances. He highlighted the strong interest of Qatari businessmen in investing in Russia, describing it as a prime destination for foreign investment. Al-Misnad also called on Russian investors to explore Qatar's attractive investment climate and the numerous opportunities available in the country.
