MCG sets new norms for project approvals, contractor payments
The officials established a new protocol for payment delays, directing contractors to first report such cases to their union rather than immediately pursuing legal action. The union would then be responsible for forwarding these cases to the MCG for resolution.
Regarding bill payments, the MCG Contractors Union head said that the civic body officials said "there will be no delays" and assurance to that effect was given.
"Officials told us not to delay work and said that timely completion and quality of work will prevent payment issues. They also told the contractors to inform the union before any case goes to court and the union will present it to the commissioner for resolution," he said.
On Friday, the union met with commissioner Pradeep Dahiya to request a 21-day timeline for processing payment files of completed projects. During the meeting, the MCG officials also discussed the responsibilities of contractors during the monsoon season, stressing the importance of "proper execution to prevent waterlogging issues in the city".

PMRDA, MIDC finalise agency for flood mitigation study in Hinjewadi
1 2 Pune: PMRDA and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) have finalised an agency to conduct flood mitigation study in Hinjawadi. The agency will begin work on Monday. PMRDA commissioner Yogesh Mhase said the selected agency will assess flood-prone zones, watershed behaviour, and drainage systems to propose short- and long-term solutions. He added that building permissions will be strictly governed by the findings of the study, requiring clearance from the irrigation department.
