Cole Harbour man wanted on provincewide arrest warrant
Halifax police are searching for a man wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant.
Brandon James Johnson, 37, of Cole Harbour, is facing charges of:
assault
unlawful confinement
uttering threats
mischief
fail to comply with order
Police describe Johnson as five-foot-11, 235 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes. They say he may be driving a beige 2009 Audi A4 with no license plate.
'Police have made several attempts to locate Johnson and are requesting assistance from the public,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP.
The Nova Scotia RCMP is asking anyone with information on Johnson's whereabouts to contact police at 902-490-5020 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The force is also warning the public to refrain from approaching Johnson.

1 killed in crash near Eganville
One person was fatally injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 41 south of Eganville on Tuesday, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Several vehicles were involved and multiple people were injured in the crash south of Spring Creek Road, according to a social media post by OPP around 12:30 p.m. Around 4 p.m., OPP announced one of the injured people had died. Highway 41 is closed between Grattan and Foymount roads, according to the ministry. The crash happened about four kilometres south of the village of Eganville, 35 kilometres south of Pembroke and 110 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa.

'Lighting. And then there was light. And we also have water.' 'No problem,' said Wendy Nichols. The senior citizen has learned to relish the small things. She and dozens of other tenants at 14 Holland Street in St. Thomas were caught in the crossfire of an international manhunt for their former landlord. 'I'm very happy about him being arrested, because what right does he have to do what he did?' she asked. The 'he' she's talking about is Gareth West, the former landlord of her building. 070825 Gareth West's website: The self-described real estate builder and investment coach also happens to be the alleged ringleader of a sophisticated grandparent scam in the United States. West was arrested last Friday in Quebec. The 38 year old from Burlington, Ontario was among 25 Canadians charged by U.S. authorities for allegedly defrauding seniors in Vermont and 40 other states. West had been on the run since March, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Vermont. 'And the lies,' exclaimed Nichols. 'He came to my door, lied to my face, he told me he was a Christian man. Then, for a brief period in June, the hydro and water were shut off due to unpaid bills, before the city intervened and had the utilities restored. 'That was very stressful,' said tenant Kim Doxtator, who uses a breathing machine. 'The hydro got shut off, the water got shut off. Even though that was only a few hours, for a lot of our tenants, that was a long time,' she said. Meanwhile, the experiences of tenants at a London apartment are all too similar to those of the tenants at 14 Holland Street in St. Thomas. 'He just came here one day and tried to con everybody by handing them $20,000 to move out,' said senior citizen Dennis Johnston, who lives at 308 Egerton Street in London. In the meantime, he is being held at a detention centre in Quebec pending a request for extradition to the U.S. by the Department of Homeland Security.

Man carrying loaded handgun arrested at Vancouver SkyTrain station, police say

(MVTP) A 42-year-old man has been charged with several offences after officers discovered him in possession of a loaded handgun at a busy SkyTrain station over the weekend, Metro Vancouver Transit Police say. Michael James Smith, who police described as having 'no fixed address,' was arrested shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday as MVTP officers were checking fares at Main Street–Science World Station. After asking Smith to produce proof of payment, officers discovered 'multiple outstanding warrants' for his arrest, along with 'a loaded Glock 23 handgun, ammunition and what were believed to be controlled substances,' police said in a news release Tuesday. Police said Smith remains in custody pending his next court appearance. Online court records indicate that he is scheduled to appear in Vancouver provincial court on Thursday. Records show Smith faces charges, including assault with a weapon and three counts of breaching a release order, all of which stem from incidents that occurred in Delta in late January and February. The Delta charges are marked as a 'K' file, a designation used by courts to identify cases involving alleged intimate partner violence. Smith also faces one count of breaching a probation order associated with the K file, but with Sunday listed as the offence date and Vancouver as the location. He has also been charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm contrary to an order and another count of breaching a release order in connection to Sunday's incident. In the MVTP release, Sgt. Dustin Szakacs noted that 'routine, everyday activities' like fare enforcement 'can create an opportunity to remove and hold accountable anyone who poses a threat to the feeling of safety of the travelling public.'
