Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, featuring Prabhas, has been grabbing headlines for quite some time. According to reports, the actress, who recently welcomed motherhood, stipulated that she would not work more than 8 hours a day during the shoot.
Now, Mani Ratnam, who is gearing up for the release of Thug Life, came out in support of Deepika and said that if one is in that position to seek that demand then it is valid.

'I think it is a rightful demand. I'm glad she's in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take that into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. I think that should be the priority. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it,' said Ratnam while talking to News18.
A few days ago, Ajay Devgn had also supported the actress at the trailer launch of Maa and had said, 'It's not that it's not going down well with people. Most of the honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hours shifts.'

Reportedly, Deepika exited from Spirit when her demands were not met. She has been officially replaced by Triptii Dimri. Bankrolled by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the movie is set to go on floors soon.

Released on July 4 in theatres, it follows four different love stories of couples--young, old, and middle-aged--living in a metro and serves as the spiritual sequel to Anurag Basu's 2007 film Life in a... Metro. The film features Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta.
