Sibling deities return to Puri Jagannath Temple with Niladri Bije
2
Bhubaneswar: The sibling deities — Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra — made their way back to the sanctum sanctorum of Puri Jagannath Temple during Niladri Bije on Tuesday, concluding the Rath Yatra festival that commenced on June 27.
Following the prescribed tradition, temple's Mahajan servitors escorted the idols of Rama and Krishna from the Taladhwaja chariot and Madan Mohan from Nandighosh chariot into the shrine through a ceremonial Pahandi procession. Subsequently, Lord Jagannath's sacred weapon Lord Sudarshan was carried from the Devidalana chariot to the temple.
As per order, the Pahandi procession continued as Lord Balabhadra followed by Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were escorted into the shrine from their respective chariots accompanied by musical celebrations and chants by devotees.
In a ceremonial display of the age-old tradition, Devi Mahalaxmi prevented Lord Jagannath's entry at the Jaya Vijaya door near the sanctum sanctorum. Her anger stemmed from being left behind at the temple during the sibling deities' journey to Gundicha Temple during Rath Yatra.
"When Lord Jagannath found himself stranded and unable to enter, he sought forgiveness and presented rasagolas to his divine consort. Upon receiving the gesture, Devi Mahalaxmi relented and permitted his entry into the temple," said Madhab Pujapanda, a servitor.
Sandhyanjali Tripathy, a devotee, observed, "The ritual demonstrates the ideal dynamics between spouses. In contemporary times, marital disagreements often lead to unfortunate outcomes. The divine couple's reconciliation serves as an example of mutual respect and understanding."
Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that from Rath Yatra till Niladri Bije, all rituals were performed smoothly.

Sawan Somwar 2025 Begins: Powerful Rituals, Timings, And Vrat Rules For First Monday Fasting
As the monsoon clouds gather, so does spiritual energy, for today marks the first Monday of Sawan 2025, a day held sacred by millions of Lord Shiva devotees across India. Worshipping Mahadev during the month of Shravan, especially on Mondays, is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and divine blessings. The significance of this sacred month is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. With Lord Vishnu in Yoga Nidra (divine slumber) during Shravan, the task of maintaining cosmic balance is handled by Lord Shiva. Thus, these weeks are ideal for expressing devotion, seeking forgiveness, and strengthening your spiritual discipline. Even if one cannot fast for the entire month, observing Sawan Somwar vrat alone is said to earn Shiva's blessings. Interestingly, this year's first Sawan Monday also coincides with Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi, adding a layer of divine auspiciousness to the day. Mondays during Sawan are particularly auspicious. According to Drik Panchang, "All Mondays or Somwar(s) which fall during Shravan month are considered highly auspicious for fasting and known as Shravan Somwar or Sawan Somwar Vrats. Many devotees observe sixteen Mondays or Solah Somwar fasting from first Somwar of Sawan month." What is Sawan Somwar Vrat? Sawan Somwar Vrat is a Monday fast observed during the month of Sawan. Many devotees also take up the Solah Somwar Vrat (16 consecutive Mondays) starting from this day to fulfil heartfelt wishes or gain peace in life. Fasting is typically accompanied by Shiva puja, mantra chanting, and consumption of satvik food. Auspicious Yogas & Nakshatras on First Sawan Monday Here are the auspicious timings as per Drik Panchang: 1. Ayushman Yoga: Until 4:14 PM 2. Saubhagya Yoga: Begins after 4:14 PM 3. Perform Shiv Aarti and chant mantras like "Om Namah Shivaya", "Mahamrityunjaya Mantra", or "Shri Shivaya Namastubhyam". When Does Sawan Begin? According to Purnimanta calendar followed in North India, Sawan starts 15 days earlier than the Amanta calendar used in South and Western India. Hence, the exact start date of Sawan may vary depending on the region. Why Sawan Somwar is So Special? It is believed that Shiva grants boons quickly during Sawan. Devotees observe fasts for love, health, marriage, or spiritual upliftment. Women often pray for an ideal life partner, while men seek strength and peace of mind. This sacred month is a time for self-purification, spiritual awakening, and reconnecting with divine energy through prayers, meditation, and discipline. So, whether you're fasting, visiting temples, or simply offering water to the Shivalinga, let this first Sawan Somwar set the tone for a month of devotion and transformation. Devotees head for Shiva shrines ahead of 1st Monday of Shravan
1 2 Bhubaneswar: Devotees carrying water in pots and balancing them on their shoulders, attached to decorated slings, were spotted along the roads as they headed to shrines of Lord Shiva ahead of the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan. District administrations have made elaborate arrangements at water bodies and Shiva temples across the state to ensure the safety and security of the devotees. "This year we issued guidelines for devotees to fetch water only from Gadagadia Ghat at Mahanadi river and not from any other place to avoid accidents. We also deployed ODRAF and fire personnel for emergencies. We put up steel barricades, temporary toilets, and changing rooms for the convenience of devotees," Cuttack mayor Subash Singh said on Sunday. Last year, three devotees had drowned while fetching water from the Mahanadi. Police have begun patrolling to ensure the safety of Kanwariyas. Amidst chants of 'Bol Bom', the Kanwariyas began their pilgrimage. Undeterred by rain and humidity, the devotees completed their journey to seek blessings and spiritual solace. Makeshift tents have been put up along the road where devotees can rest on their way. "I have been taking up the Shravan trail for the last seven years and cover the distance from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar on Mondays to pour water on Lord Lingaraj. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esse novo alarme com câmera é quase gratuito em Biguaçu (consulte o preço) Alarmes Undo It is my faith in the Lord and his blessings," said 38-year-old Samesh Sahu, an employee in a private company. Major Shiva shrines across the state, like Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Lokanath Temple in Puri, Dhabaleswar in Cuttack, Akhandalamani Temple in Aradi, Bhadrak, Kapilas in Dhenkanal, Gupteswar in Koraput, Ladubaba in Nayagarh and others have made elaborate arrangements for the Shravan month. Barricades have been erected in front of the temples for the smooth darshan of devotees. "The experience during Shivratri at Lingaraj Temple was not very pleasant. We hope during the Shravan month, the authorities will ensure a smooth darshan for devotees," said Smaranika Swain, a woman Kanwariya who travelled from Cuttack.
