Outdoor plans this weekend? You might want to check the weather report first

Yahoo11-07-2025
If your weekend plans include the Cocoa Beach Air Show or any other outdoor activities, you might want to have a backup plan.
The weather is expected to be especially hot starting July 11 with highs near 92 and a heat index reaching 105 or higher. Rain and thunderstorm chances are around 50%.
'Heat and high humidity will combine each day to produce heat indices in the low to mid 100s, perhaps approaching 107 degrees in a few spots by Saturday and especially Sunday,' according to the National Weather Service. 'Those with outdoor weekend plans should keep this in mind and stay protected from prolonged heat exposure by taking frequent cooling and hydration breaks. While the prospects of a Heat Advisory for Sunday are not likely at this time, these mid-100 degrees heat indices can be dangerous to heat-sensitive individuals.'
There's a good chance of that. Both July 11 and July 12 have 50% chances of rain, mainly in the afternoon.
The heat is the big factor this weekend. Highs are predicted to be in the mid-90s both Saturday and Sunday with an extra dose of high humidity.
Tickets are non-refundable.
'In the event of non-authorized intervention, weather or other causes beyond control, the event may be terminated early,' according to the event website. 'If the event is cancelled in its entirety due to an occurrence outside of the control of Event Management on one or both days, Event Management, at its sole discretion, may attempt to make an accommodation the following day or at next year's event for discounted admission.'

Expected excessive heat Friday prompts First Alert Weather Day. Check the forecast.

We're headed for a First Alert Weather Day Friday due to potentially extreme heat. Wednesday, we remain in a bit of a holding pattern, with high pressure still in control, but that's going to change quickly. The heat and humidity build Thursday into Friday, and some areas—especially parts of northeast New Jersey, New York City western Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley—could flirt with heat warning criteria by Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service already issued advisories and watches that go into effect Friday for parts of the Tri-State. An Extreme Heat Watch goes into effect at 10 a.m. Friday and lasts until 8 p.m. A Heat Advisory goes into effect at 11 a.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. Heat Advisories kick in any time the heat index of 95-99 degrees for two consecutive days, or 100-104 degrees for any length of time. An Excessive Heat Watch kicks in if there's a heat index of 105 degrees or more for two consecutive hours or greater. A cold front arrives Friday evening, bringing our next shot at strong to possibly severe storms, though there's still some uncertainty on storm strength. Saturday looks hot and humid again, but a bit less intense depending on cloud cover. Another front may bring showers or storms from late Sunday into Monday. Risk of severe weather follows potentially record-setting heat around Boston on Friday

Another round of high heat, oppressive humidity and potentially severe storms is on the horizon in the Boston area, therefore, the WBZ Weather Team has highlighted Friday as a NEXT Weather Alert Day. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for both Thursday and Friday. Sitting about halfway through meteorological summer, we have already equaled the number of 90-degree days from 2024 in Boston. We will be adding on to that total in the next couple of days. High temperatures on Thursday will reach the low 90s in most areas along and north of the Mass Pike. Dewpoints will be climbing into the 60s, making it feel a few degrees warmer. The heat and humidity will peak on Friday. Temperatures will reach into the mid and upper 90s, challenging some daily records. Dewpoints will top out near 70, adding 5-10 degrees to the "feels-like" temperature. During Friday afternoon and evening, a cold front will sweep through southern New England ushering in some cooler and drier air. Unfortunately, in order to get there, we will have to endure a round of thunderstorms, some of which could reach severe levels. The Storms Prediction Center has placed our entire area in a "marginal" risk for severe storms on Friday. This is a level 1 of 5 on their scale. There is a good chance they may adjust this in the next 24 hours and place parts of the area in a "slight" risk, or level 2. Highest risk for thunderstorms will be between 2-8 p.m. on Friday. Any storms that form may contain very heavy downpours, lightning, damaging wind gusts and small hail. If you have outdoor plans Friday afternoon and evening, we urge that you stay tuned to updated forecasts. After those storms pass, drier air flows in and we are in for another terrific Saturday! Sunday may bring another risk of showers or storms. More on that in the next few days.
