
ISB Platinum Jubilee Badminton Tournament Serves Up Thrilling Start with 65 Matches
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) witnessed a rousing opening to its ISB @ 75 Junior & Senior Open Badminton Tournament on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at its Isa Town campus. A key event in the school's year-long Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the tournament's first day saw an impressive 65 matches played.
The highly anticipated event has drawn over 350 players, with a packed schedule of more than 400 matches set to unfold over five days, culminating in a grand closing ceremony on May 10. The tournament is proudly sponsored by National Trading House WLL.
The tournament was officially declared open by ISB Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests including Mr. Dileep C Thaker, Managing Director of National Trading House WLL; Mr. Ahmed Al Jallad, Coach of the Bahrain National Badminton Team; Mr. V. Rajapandian, Secretary of ISB; Dr. Mohammed Faizal, Vice-Chairman & Member HSSE and Sports; Mr. Bonny Joseph, Member-Finance&IT Mr. VR Palaniswamy, Principal of ISB; Ms. Pamela Xavier, Principal of the Junior Wing; Mr. G Satheesh, Vice-Principal of the Senior School & Academic Administration; Ms. Priya Laji, Vice-Principal of the Junior Wing; Ms. Parvathi Devadas, Staff Representative; Mr. Prince S. Natarajan, General Convener of the Platinum Jubilee Committee; Mr. Saji Antony, former EC Secretary; former EC Members (Sports) Mr. Rajesh MN and Mr. Ajakarishnan V; Mr. Binu Pappachan, Tournament Director; Mr. Shanil Abdul Rahim (Badminton Asia), Tournament Referee; Mr. Adil Ahmed, Tournament General Convener; and Mr. Binoj Mathew, Coordinator, along with other officials from the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF).
The prestigious tournament is being held in the newly renovated Jashanmal Auditorium, which now boasts four international-standard badminton courts featuring impact-resistant PVC flooring and professional lighting. Sanctioned and supported by the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF), this major sporting event stands as one of the largest badminton tournaments in the Kingdom, attracting top-tier players from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
The tournament showcases a comprehensive range of 39 events, encompassing Boys' and Girls' Singles and Doubles across various age groups from U9 to U19, Men's Doubles (Elite, Championship, F1–F5), Women's Doubles (Levels 1 & 2), and Mixed Doubles (Levels C, 1 & 2). All matches are being fiercely contested in a knockout format, strictly adhering to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rules and officiated by certified umpires.
Winners across all categories will be awarded cash prizes and trophies, while all participants will receive digital certificates in recognition of their involvement. The ISB community proudly presents this tournament as a significant sporting highlight during its momentous 75th-year celebrations.

Indian Embassy relocates consular ‘services to Al Seef premises

Indian School Bahrain Shines at CBSE Cluster Chess Tournament
TDT I Manama The Indian School, Bahrain (ISB), showcased an outstanding performance at the CBSE School Cluster Chess Tournament 2025, securing significant victories across multiple categories. The Under-14 Girls' team emerged as champions, demonstrating strategic excellence and remarkable teamwork. The triumphant team consisted of Shasthiga Balamurugan (7I), Janet George (6Y), Dhruvi Panigrahi (8B), and Shanjana Selvaraj (8H). In the Under-19 Girls' category, ISB secured the Runner-Up position. This team comprised Richa Ann Biju (11E), Deepshika Kishore (10P), Uma Eswari (9L), and Jerusha Elizabeth (9R). The Under-14 Boys' team also achieved the Runner-Up title with an impressive display of skill. The players were Pranav Santhosh (7K), Kasinath K.
