Urgent search for man who entered water at Oxfordshire lock
William, 23, whose surname has not been released, was at Buscot Lock in Faringdon with a group of friends on the evening of Saturday, July 12.
Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service received a call just after 9.10pm that William had "got into difficulty" in the water in the River Thames, and friends tried to retrieve him but were unable to do so.

Thames Valley Police responded immediately and search and rescue teams were on the scene within minutes.
This included the National Police Air Service, specialist search teams (POLSA), search dogs and Oxfordshire Lowland Search & Rescue.

However, the search is still ongoing as of Sunday morning, and police are asking the public to avoid the area.
Temporary chief superintendent Lis Knight said: "Searches have been under way for William since last night, but despite these extensive and thorough searches of the water and the river banks, we have, as yet, not been able to locate him.
"Officers from our specialist search team are continuing the search today.

"William's next of kin are aware and are being offered support at this extremely distressing time, and my thoughts are with them all.
"We will continue our search for William until we have located him, and I would ask that his family's privacy is respected.
"I would ask people to please avoid the area today while our searches continue for William. His family are uppermost in our thoughts."

Boy, 15, and three others dead in incidents on hottest day
A 15-year-old boy and three other people have died in separate police call-outs on Scotland's hottest day in two years. A rescue operation was launched for the boy on the River Kelvin in Glasgow at about 18:40 on Saturday. His body was recovered at 23:30. Earlier a 63-year-old woman died in a fall near Campsie Glen waterfall in East Dunbartonshire. The body of a 39-year-old man was also found in the River Tyne at Haddington in East Lothian. At around 22:30 on Saturday a 50-year-old man was pulled from the water at Loch Lomond. Police said he died in hospital on Sunday. Forecasters said it was the hottest day since June 2023, with the Met Office recording the heat at 32.2C at Aviemore in the Highlands. A temperature of 32C has only been recorded on six previous occasions in Scotland since 1961. The death of the 15-year-old boy on the River Kelvin, near Maryhill Road, is understood to be accidental. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended and around 23:30 the body of a male was recovered from the water." At Campsie Glen, two fire engines and water rescue teams were sent to the incident with the 63-year-old woman at 12:35. The spokesperson added: "Emergency services attended and the woman died at the scene. Her family is aware." At Haddington, police received a report that a 39-year-old man's body had been found in the River Tyne. The circumstances of the incident are not yet known. Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. At Loch Lomond police, ambulance and water rescue teams were called to the incident at a beach near Ardvorlich at Loch Lomond. The 50-year-old man was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he died on Sunday. Meanwhile, emergency services were also called to help a walker suffering from heat exhaustion in Dumfries and Galloway. Galloway Mountain Rescue assisted the Scottish Ambulance Service near the Southern Upland Way footpath, north of St John's Town of Dalry, at about 17:30. A team spokesperson said: "Seven team members deployed with vehicles from Castle Douglas and set up a rapid evacuation back to the roadside. "We wish the casualty a speedy recovery." The incidents come during a run of hot sunny days that were officially classed as a heatwave on Friday. Met Office criteria states that the temperature must reach 25C for three consecutive days in the same area to qualify. Police urged people to take care outdoors while NHS Scotland advised people to stay safe by ensuring they drink water and are protected from the sun. State Trooper Is Among Multiple Victims in Kentucky Shooting, Officials Say
A shooter was killed and multiple other people, including a state trooper, were injured in a shooting that ended at a church in Kentucky on Sunday, the authorities said. The shooter, who was not immediately identified, shot a trooper and then fled the scene, ending up at the Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington, Ky., Sherry H. Bray, a spokeswoman for the Kentucky State Police, said in a statement. 'At this time, we can confirm that the trooper is receiving medical attention,' she said, adding that there were 'multiple victims at the church' and that emergency responders were treating people at the scene. Iran president was reportedly injured in Israeli strikes
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was reportedly slightly injured during one of Israel's attacks on Iran last month. Iran's state Fars news agency, close to the revolutionary guard, says that on 16 June, six bombs targeted both access and entry points of a secret underground facility in Tehran where Pezeshkian was attending an emergency meeting of the Supreme National Security Council. The president is said to have suffered leg injuries as he and others escaped through an emergency shaft. Iran is now reported to be following leads of infiltration by Israeli agents. The Fars report has not been independently verified. Israel has not publicly commented on the report. Videos posted on social media during the 12-day war showed repeated strikes against a mountain side in north-west Tehran. Now it has emerged that the strikes on the fourth day of war targeted a secret underground facility in western Tehran where Iran's top leaders were at the time. The Fars news agency report says the Israeli strikes blocked all the six entry and exit points, and also the ventilation system. The electricity to the facility was also cut off - but Pezeshkian managed to reach safety. The Supreme National Security Council is Iran's top decision-making body after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Last week, Pezeshkian accused Israel of trying to kill him - a claim denied by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who said "regime change" had not been not a goal of the war. Israel wiped out many of top IRGC and army commanders at the very start of the war. Iranian leaders admit they were taken completely by surprise, and there was a decision-making paralysis for at least the first 24 hours after the attack.
