Selbeyonce bids farewell to Ukhozi FM after more than a decade on air
After 13 years of captivating radio audiences, Selby 'Selbeyonce' Mkhize is saying goodbye to Ukhozi FM.
The beloved presenter will host her final show on June 18, closing a chapter that began in 2012 when she joined the station as a contributor on the Umnyakazo Top20 show. Her infectious energy and bold personality quickly made her a listener favourite.
By 2014 Selby had landed a regular slot on Woza Nabangani Bakho, holding down the fort on Monday and Friday afternoons. A year later, she was welcomed as a full-time member of the Ukhozi FM family.
Known for her vibrant presence on and off air, Selbeyonce has earned many accolades over the years and became one of the station's standout voices. Her larger-than-life persona and dedication to the craft helped solidify her place in the hearts of listeners.
Ukhozi FM's business manager Lwazi Mthabela paid tribute to her impact, saying: 'Selby has been an invaluable member of our family. Her commitment and enthusiasm have significantly contributed to the success of the station. She has represented the Ukhozi FM brand with pride and professionalism, winning awards and touching the hearts of many.'

Minnie Dlamini out as Selbeyonce returns to Gagasi FM

Picture: Instagram Radio personality Selby 'Selbeyonce' Mkhize has returned to Gagasi FM after announcing her departure from Ukhozi FM last week. Selbeyonce officially joined the dynamic afternoon drive show, The Gagasi Fast Lane, on Monday, 23 June, which she will be hosting alongside Sphectacula and DJ Naves. She replaces Minnie Dlamini, who held it down for a week following the departure of Thandi 'Zisto' Mhlongo, who resigned in March this year after eight years with the station. Alex Mthiyane, head of audience experience at Gagasi FM, said they are thrilled to have Selbeyonce on board. 'We started this journey together as young broadcasters. Watching her growth has been inspiring. She's a true example of the Zulu saying: 'Amanzi la ake ama khona aphinde ame' [the water will stop again where it once stopped].' Mthiyane added that the fresh line-up will bring a new dynamic to the show. 'We're thrilled to welcome back Selbeyonce to our team! Her infectious energy and unmistakable on-air charisma will undoubtedly connect with our audience. Selbeyonce returns to Gagasi FM's afternoon drive show
Mzansi, the queen is back on the airwaves. Much to the delight of her fans, beloved radio and TV personality Selby 'Selbeyonce' Mkhize is making a triumphant return to Gagasi FM, the heartbeat of KwaZulu-Natal. After years away from the station where her media career took flight, Selby is rejoining the station on June 23, and she's not coming quietly. She'll be lighting up the Gagasi Fast Lane, the station's high-energy afternoon drive show, alongside the iconic duo Sphectacula and DJ Naves. Her journey began in 2008 as a voice-over artist. By 2009, she had already made waves as the sass-filled gossip columnist on the weekend breakfast show Lively and Loud. The momentum kept building as she brought the heat to the Top 40 in 2010 and owned the Saturday night party scene in 2011. In 2012, she took a step back from the station, but her legacy never faded. Now, more than a decade later, she's coming home and fans can't wait. Earlier this week, speculation swirled that Selbeyonce was headed to a youth radio station, a claim that Gagasi FM quickly and firmly squashed. In a strongly-worded statement, the station said: 'We wish to state unequivocally that these claims are entirely baseless and purely speculative. It is deeply concerning that the publication failed to consider the potential reputational and commercial harm such unfounded allegations could cause to both the individual named and our business.'
