Padraig Harrington in hunt for big prize money at US Senior Open

Padraig Harrington is chasing one of his biggest paydays in recent years as he aims for a second US Senior Open.
The three-time major winner won the event back in 2022 and now goes in hunt for a second Seniors Major.
The Irishman will tee it up alongside Australia's Mark Hensby and 2009 Open champion Stewart Cink, with the three players tied at the top on eight-under-par, while Ryder Cup-winning captain Thomas Bjorn sits one shot behind.
Harrington may well be one of the richest Irish sportspeople of all time, amassing millions in career earnings and will add a decent chunk to his net worth today if he can get over the line.
The prize for top spot is a cool $800,000 (€682,500) while the runner up will still net a nice $432,000 (€368,000).
In fact, Harrington could be nearly home and hosed, other than a poor back nine yesterday. The Dubliner carded a stunning four-under-par opening nine before making double on the par-three 12th and bogeying the 15th but a birdie on the 18th meant he'd have a share of the lead going into the final day.
Here is a full breakdown of the earnings.

I was a Grand National jockey shown ‘lifeless' at Aintree after horrific fall – now I'm making a comeback for my kids

A FORMER Grand National jockey shown 'lifeless' on the Aintree turf to millions after a devastating fall is ignoring doctors and making a shock return to the saddle. Davy Condon, who looked destined to be racing's next big thing after being snapped up by Advertisement 3 Davy Condon was a superstar jockey but saw his world come crashing down in a horrific Grand National fall Credit: Alamy 3 A Cheltenham Festival-winning rider, he had banged in winners for Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott Credit: Alamy 3 But Condon was forced to retire after millions watching on home saw his limp body lie motionless on the Aintree turf following a fall from Portrait King in the 2015 National The Irish rider, who TV images showed face-down in the mud as on-course medics rushed to his side, was left with 'spinal concussion' and forced to retire aged 30. Condon was one of the top riders at the time, a teenage sensation-turned-Cheltenham Festival winner and Group 1 champion. But his world came crashing down that Saturday afternoon ten years ago when he was launched from Portrait King at the third-last fence in a Grand National won by Many Clouds. "I was lying on the ground. I couldn't move," he recalled. Advertisement He spent two nights in hospital as a result with doctors ultimately telling him it was too dangerous to ride again. Condon officially called it quits later that month and admitted to 'feeling lost' in the days afterwards. But a decade later he has decided to risk it all again and race at the Curragh in Ireland later this year. Condon will don his silks, lace up his boots and grab his whip for the Pat Smullen Charity Race on August 30. Condon, dad to two young boys aged four and six, said he was moved to race again partly because of them. He told the Condon, who worked as an assistant for Gordon Elliott before going to break in horses for Shadwell in Dubai only to return as assistant to Cheltenham Festival-winning trianer Cian Collins, said: "I wanted to ride in a charity race as a kind of mid-life crisis thing! "I told my cousin Paul Townend I wanted to do a charity race and he pointed me in the direction of this one at the Curragh. "I was emotional telling the children I was going to be in the race. Advertisement "They were jumping around the place, all excited." Condon won millions in the saddle, having been signed by Mullins at an early age. He was a Grade 1 winner under the all-conquering Closutton boss, landing the 2007 Supreme on 40-1 outsider Ebaziyan. Condon and Mullins also had success with the likes of serial winner Homer Wells, Holy Orders, Our Ben and Jayo. Conor McGregor draws huge crowd at the beach as UFC star is filmed training in the sun

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Conor McGregor was spotted hitting the mitts on a beach in Ibiza, as a crowd of amazed spectators applauded his workout. The 36-year-old has been out of action since his 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 - a fight which led to an extended lay-off for the Notorious one due to suffering a broken leg in the first round. However, it now looks as though McGregor is now eyeing up his grand return to the world of combat sports, as he was spotted showcasing his hand speed, precision and power as the sun beamed down on him. A large crowd gathered to watch the Dubliner on the beach as he threw combination after combination, before a chorus of clapping and cheering erupted as he wrapped things up. Video footage also uploaded by McGregor shows the Irishman's fiancee, Dee Devlin, and their children were present at the exhibition. Elsewhere, footage also showed McGregor wrapping his hands under a parasol prior to the showing, with what appeared to be dollar bill designed swathes as he chucked and said: "Money in the till, baby. Money in the till." McGregor was actually set to return to the UFC last June to take on Michael Chandler off the back of their heated rivalry as coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. However, the pugilist pulled out of the bout in the build-up, citing a broken toe as his reason for withdrawing. While McGregor seems eager to get back into the Octagon in the near future, Dana White and the UFC matchmakers have failed to announce a date or an opponent for his return as of yet. However, Chandler is still seemingly holding out hope that he will be the man to welcome the former featherweight and lightweight champion back to the promotion. Speaking to Mirror Fighting in November, the 39-year-old said: "I still believe Conor comes back at some point, and when he does, that road goes through Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael Chandler. We have to finish TUF 31, we have to get a fight poster that actually comes to fruition for a fight, we have to get a contract that actually comes to fruition for a fight but either way if the fight with Conor never happens, I am completely content - I wish him well. (Image: Getty Images) "But I have a sneaky suspicion Conor does not want to sail off into the sunset the way he has right now. He wants to come back and needs to come back for Conor McGregor 's legacy." It comes just weeks after McGregor was spotted brushing shoulders with a wealth of celebrities at Wayne Lineker's famed Ocean Beach Club, pictured with the likes of model Katie Price and Tottenham Hotspur star, Kevin Danso. McGregor was shirtless and sporting a pair of red Versace shorts as he puffed away on a cigar while entering the open-air club, playing up to an adoring crowd. (Image: Conor McGregor Instagram) And a snap shared with his 46.5million followers saw him sharing a smile with Price, as he wrote: "@katieprice forever." In response, Price also shared the photo while adding: "You legend," in adoration of the mixed martial artist. While McGregor has seemingly been more focused on promoting his Bare Knuckle FC promotion as of late, he also appears to have continued to have been invested in the UFC. Taking to X after Ilia Topuria's first-round knockout of Charles Oliveira at the weekend at UFC 317 - in which he won the lightweight title - McGregor wrote: "Congrats on winning my old titles, illia!" He added, in the post which has since been deleted: "He said he gonna rest his b**** on paddy['s] head too hahah fair play. Good LW scrap that one is as well imo. UFC is back? Or still missing something..? 3 ko's back to back is very good. No one can deny the knockout. I like."
