Nair (40) worked as a nurse in the United Kingdom (UK) and had recently returned to Kerala on a short leave to complete some formalities for her rejoining as a state government health worker. She was returning to London aboard the ill-fated Air India flight 171 which crashed into the hostel block of a medical college in Ahmedabad shortly after take-off on June 12.

It was after 11 days that Nair's body was identified through DNA examination in Ahmedabad.
The nurse's mortal remains were brought to the Thiruvananthapuram international airport early Tuesday and taken by road to her native village of Pullad in Pathanamthitta district.
Her remains have been kept for public tributes at the school she studied, Sree Vivekananda High School. Ministers including VS Sivankutty and VN Vasavan paid their tributes.
The remains will be taken to her family home in Pullad and cremated around 4pm on Tuesday.
Nair leaves behind her mother and two minor children. According to her friends and family members, her new home, currently under construction, was her big dream in life.

The crew can be seen requesting passengers to be seated patiently while the ground staff completed the checks for the aircraft. At one point, the airhostess says that filming inside the aircraft was not allowed. However, the passengers retort saying that recording the video was important, and citing safety concerns in the aircraft. The flight, carrying 176 passengers, was facing technical snag. According to flightradar24, the flight 6E 5028 took off from the Mumbai airport at 9.53 pm, over two hours after its departure time. It landed in Varanasi at 11.40 pm. 'Your flight has not taken off for the past hour, aircraft making sounds and you are telling us that shooting a video is not allowed?' a passenger questioned. Another asked, 'Does our life have no value?' Following this, the airhostess folds her hands and tells the fliers that all checks on the aircraft had been completed. The passengers also demand an 'alternate solution', saying that the crew members should also cooperate with them. 'You (crew) expect us to cooperate with you. Pilot reassures passengers, clarifies safety concerns Following this, the pilot of the aircraft asked the passengers to sit down, adding that the doors would not be closed till the passengers were satisfied. 'Let's talk, but please sit down. We will not close the door till you are satisfied, but please sit down. Let us clarify all the doubts,' the pilot, Captain Urvashi, said. The pilot assured the passengers that the flight was ready for take-off in ten minutes, and said they had faced the delay because every system was checked thoroughly. 'If you do not resort to chaos, I guarantee you we will all reach Varanasi,' the pilot said, while some of the passengers chanted 'Har Har Mahadev'. 'You have to trust me that if there was any issue, I would not fly this plane,' Captain Urvashi said, adding that the aircraft was fit to fly.

59,000 appear for HSSC Common Entrance Test in Chandigarh, Panchkula

Over 59,000 aspirants converged on examination centres across Chandigarh and Panchkula as the Haryana Staff Selection Commission's Common Entrance Test (CET) for Group C posts commenced on Saturday. Candidates coming out a CET exam centre at Government Model School, Sector 18, Chandigarh, on Saturday afternoon. (Ravi Kumar/HT) The exam, expected to see nearly 13.7 lakh candidates appear across Haryana and Chandigarh in total over two days, was conducted in two shifts on Saturday, from 10 am to 11.45 am and 3 pm to 4.45 pm. In Panchkula, the first day of the CET proceeded smoothly across all 44 centres. Local administration directives were strictly enforced, with photocopy shops remaining closed. While a few dual-business establishments were observed open, they adhered to the ban on photocopying services. All coaching centres in the district also remained shut. Police maintained high vigilance outside examination centres, with vehicles strategically stationed. Buses arranged by the district administration ferried examinees within the city and from the bus stand to various centres. Numerous private school buses were also deployed for this purpose, with many stationed at the Sector-5 bus stand. Out of 21,488 candidates who had registered for Panchkula centres on Day 1, 19,759 appeared for the exam. Panchkula deputy commissioner Monika Gupta personally inspected multiple examination centres during both shifts, confirming the peaceful conduct of exams at all locations. In Chandigarh, 153 exam centres were established for the CET. Out of 75,000 registered aspirants for Chandigarh centres, approximately 40,000 appeared for the examination. (Sant Arora/HT) Despite meticulous arrangements and deployment of 1,000 Haryana Roadways shuttle buses, designated help desks and traffic advisories rolled out ahead of the exam, key routes in Chandigarh and Panchkula experienced significant traffic congestion, especially outside the exam centres. Routes, including Tribune Chowk to Zirakpur, CTU Workshop through Sector 28/26 lights, Gurdwara Chowk, and southern sectors of Chandigarh erupted into standstill traffic, with vehicles crawling for over 30 to 40 minutes. Traffic was also completely jammed between Vikas Nagar and Hallomajra light points, and the Kalagram light point towards the railway station side, affecting roads typically relied on by candidates and general commuters alike. Commuters reported chaos in front of the Dadumajra dumping yard, where CET exam candidates were stuck in a jam for 40 minutes. All coaching institutes and photocopy shops in Panchkula will remain closed on Sunday as well due to the ongoing CET. Furthermore, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita will continue to be enforced around all examination centres to ensure security and prevent unlawful assembly.
