Harwood-Bellis found the net in a 5-0 victory at Wembley.
But after relegation back to the second tier with the Saints, he admits a place on the plane for next summer's World Cup is unlikely.
Harwood-Bellis told Sky Sports: "It's the dream to play for England and my dream came true.
"You want to stay there and not be a one-cap wonder.

"I've got a long way to go. I wouldn't say I'm mad close to the team at the minute, with the season going the way it went.
"At the end of the day, it's how you do it at your club.
"Personally, if I look at it selfishly, to get back in the England squad, I need to be playing well in the Premier League."
Southampton have brought in Will Still in a bid to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt.

SunSport revealed earlier this week that Burnley are preparing to hand Harwood-Bellis a Prem lifeline.
But the 22-year-old - who is engaged to Roy Keane's daughter Leah - is fully focused on his job at St Marys.

He continued: "If I want to play for England, we've got to get promoted.
"People around me know that, and I think the fans know that as well.
"We don't want to be playing in the Championship, we want to be playing in the Premier League. We've got a taste of it now.
"We've got the bit between our teeth to go and do a better job.
"It couldn't have gone any worse in the Premier League last time. We've got to put that wrong, right."
Away from the pitch, Harwood-Bellis got engaged to Leah last year.

Keane was there to watch at Wembley as the youngster netted on his Three Lions bow.
Asked about Harwood-Bellis joining his family, Roy joked: "It's not done and dusted yet.
"Things can change really quickly in the Keane household."
But he also gave him a glowing review, saying: "It's nice for him, it's good for him to make his debut.
"He is a really good kid and his family have done a great job.
"He has got a goal threat. Over the last few months, he has showed he has got a goal in him for Southampton."

Conor Coady to Rangers transfer jolted by 'obvious' Leicester boss revelation as Mbuyamba pitch made
The push by the Glasgow giants to sign the experienced centre-back has dragged on throughout the summer Boss Marti Cifuentes admits Leicester City need to cut the size of their squad amid Rangers' interest in Conor Coady. The defender has been a target at Ibrox all summer and both the Scottish Premiership giants and Coady had been keen to make a deal happen in time for the Champions League qualification double-header against Panathinaikos. But the England cap remains in training with the Foxes as they prepares for the English Championship campaign after Premier League relegation. Cifuentes has praised the 32-year-old following his pre-season showings - and has kept Coady as his captain going into the new campaign. However, Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester that cash-strapped City would have to cut their cloth before the end of the window. The Spaniard said: 'It's very clear we have a lot of players in the squad. Definitely there is a lot of quality, but at the same time we need to understand that we need to trim this squad. 'At the moment we have 32 players which is quite a lot. It's not what I want. Everybody is aware is that the market, there's a lot of weeks until it's closed. A lot of things can happen. 'The important thing in these days is to learn from the players, to understand more what they can give to the team, what they can give to the idea, and take some decisions. 'What I know for sure is that I don't like to work with very big squads. 'I know the Championship and hopefully we're going to do very well in both cup competitions. "We're going to need enough players to rotate, to make sure everybody's ready during the season. You never know if you're going to have a bad period of injuries. 'At the same time, I'm a big believer that we have a fantastic academy so I want the young guys, even the ones who are not here today, that have a chance to train with us to show themselves, to hopefully have opportunities during the season. 'I think it's pretty obvious some changes will happen during the next weeks.' Xavier Mbuyamba is also reportedly on Rangers radar as the club search for defensive reinforcements. The Dutch defender has just helped FC Volendam return to the Eredivisie by winning the second division title. The 23-year-old - who was previously linked to Celtic back in 2023 - has entered the final year of his deal and is reportedly available for £450k this summer. And former Volendam star Kees Kwakma is baffled that the centre-back hasn't found a move - as he told suitors exactly what they will be getting. He told ESPN's Voetbalpraat: "It's striking that Xavier Mbuyamba still hasn't found a club. "He's a true, pure defender. He's very fit and still very young at 23. He's definitely an investment that can make a difference, so I expect things to move forward."

Manchester United stars take part in innovative trial also used in F1 and cycling
To help the players combat the heat in America, Manchester United's performance team are co-innovating with kit sponsors adidas on a trial to explore cooling strategies Manchester United's players are trialling an innovative silver jacket designed to cool them down while training in high temperatures. United's training base for their US tour is Chicago, where the temperature has reached the mid 90s during a heatwave which has seen the two hottest days of the year in the city. To help the players combat the heat, United's performance team are co-innovating with kit sponsors adidas on a trial to explore cooling strategies. The silver jacket keeps the cold inside, ensuring players cool down much more quickly and has already been trialled in cycling and Formula One. It is expected to be widely used at next year's World Cup, where teams will be playing in severe heat all over the US. United's players will wear them after their warm up and at half time during their opening tour game against West Ham at MetLife Stadium, New Jersey, on Saturday. The trial with the jacket is the part of United's continuous innovation strategy to constantly maximise performance. Meanwhile, United flew out for their pre-season tour of the United States without Harry Maguire but the defender has now joined the squad after staying to deal with a personal matter. The 32-year-old was a half-time introduction in last Saturday's 0-0 friendly draw with Leeds but was replaced in the 74th minute, then conspicuous by his absence from Tuesday's 32-man tour squad. It's understood Maguire remained at home due to a personal matter but he's now with Ruben Amorim's men Stateside. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia have unsurprisingly been omitted from the travelling party heading for Chicago. Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona. The four are searching for new clubs and have been training away from Ruben Amorim's first-team squad since indicating that they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo is part of the group after completing his move from Brentford on Monday for a fee rising to a potential £71million. Fellow summer arrivals Matheus Cunha, whose partner recently gave birth, and Diego Leon are also on the plane. Lisandro Martinez is included as he continues his rehabilitation from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in February. The United defender is not yet ready for team training. Amorim's side are based in Chicago, where they will play Bournemouth at Soldier Field on July 30 as part of the Premier League Summer Series. They start the pre-season tournament at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey – host of next year's World Cup final – against West Ham on Saturday evening local time. United finish their three-game trip against Everton at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta on August 3. Amorim's side welcome Fiorentina, including United great David De Gea, to Old Trafford for their final warm-up friendly on August 9 – the weekend before their Premier League opener at home to Arsenal.

'We can't continue to act this way' - fans on Newcastle's window so far
We asked for your views on Newcastle's summer transfer business so far and the number of targets opting to go are some of your comments:James: It is understandable we are missing out in targets due to wages, but lowballing clubs to allow rivals to enter the race and pay the figure that selling teams demand is frustrating. If we had gone in early with acceptable figures for both Joao Pedro and James Trafford I believe they would be Newcastle players. I am also very sure that Benjamin Sesko will find a team that will pay higher wages and that means we are left with not selling Alexander Isak, who doesn't want to be at Newcastle, or selling him and having no replacement. Poor management from the club - they either should have offered a decent contract to Isak or made contingency Simply dreadful. Eddie Howe said move fast and we have done the complete opposite. I suspect the 'turmoil' behind the scenes at the club does not help sell the project to players. We urgently need a CEO and sporting director in place and to start securing some new bodies through the door who will not only add depth but quality to the The boardroom team are not working in harmony with Howe to get the deals done. We need Amanda Stavely back Howe has yet again been massively let down by those above him. Why do we keep lowballing for these great players who we need to get Champions League football again, then act annoyed when we inevitably get outbid. The speed of our transfers is also baffling. Starting to lose faith - we can't continue to act this way. Five players needed in the next few weeks to claw back fans' faith. £150m for Isak please - we only want players who want to be Some Toon fans are complaining about how the club has gone about its business during this window - without knowing any of the behind-the-scenes details! We've only lost players to the 'big clubs'. They have more revenue than us and therefore have more to spend (PSR), and they're also perceived as being more successful. To start addressing these problems we need to get our new stadium approved and built news alerts on your Premier League club in the BBC Sport app
