Fallon was the only Celtic substitute when Jock Stein's side beat Inter Milan 2-1 in the Portuguese capital to win the European Cup in 1967.
The Cambuslang-born goalkeeper joined Celtic in 1958 and made almost 200 appearances over a 14-year period.

He played in the team that kick-started Celtic's trophy success under Stein with victory over Dunfermline in the 1965 Scottish Cup final and went on to collect 14 winners' medals in total before leaving for Motherwell. He also had a brief spell with Morton before retiring.
A statement from the Scottish champions read: 'His love for Celtic, however, was a constant throughout the years, and he followed the club at home and away for the rest of life.
'His passing comes as a great sadness to us all, and the thoughts and prayers of everyone connected with Celtic Football Club are with his family and friends at this sad time.'
Fallon was reunited with his European Cup winners' medal in 2019, having lost it in the wake of the final.

The memento was donated to Celtic, who returned it to its rightful owner.
Speaking at the time, Fallon told the Celtic website: 'We were wading through scores of fans to get off the park and into the dressing room. It's such a great memory.
'We'll never forget it, and it's something everyone should be proud of. For the Celtic supporters, we gave them something to look at that nobody else could.'
Fallon attended the funeral of fellow Lisbon Lion John Clark last month.

Ndaawi awarded Galway Hurdle in dramatic circumstances

It is 20 years since trainer Noel Meade saddled his most recent winner of the Ballybrit highlight in More Rainbows but he had come close on several occasions since, while Ndaawi's trainer Gordon Elliott had never won it previously. Helvic Dream, a Group One winner on the Flat for Meade in the 2021 Tattersalls Gold Cup, was an 8-1 shot in the hands of Donagh Meyler and settled down to fight it out with the 13-2 shot Ndaawi and Jack Kennedy in the home straight. However, the pair did come close together all the way up the run-in as both horses and jockeys gave their all, with Ndaawi short of room against the far rail, and while Helvic Dream passed the post a head in front the stewards felt the interference was significant enough to reverse the placings. Following a stewards' enquiry, Ndaawi is awarded the @GuinnessIreland Galway Hurdle 🏆 — Galway Races (@Galway_Races) July 31, 2025 Elliott, completing a big-race double after landing Wednesday's Galway Plate with Western Fold, said: 'We have won most of the big handicaps so this is the race I wanted to win, although it is not a nice way to win. 'Noel is one of my greatest friends and there isn't a day goes by that we don't talk and we have great banter, but that's the way it goes unfortunately. 'The stewards have their jobs to do, Jack said it straightaway after the race and I was talking to Ruby (Walsh) as well and he felt we would definitely get it. 'It is unbelievable to win the two big races here this week and the horses have all run well, I can't believe it.' Noel Meade intends to appeal the decision (Damien Eagers/PA) On future plans for Ndaawi, the trainer added: 'There is a $150,000 Flat race in America for him in October now.' Meade later indicated he will appeal the decision. He told Racing TV: 'I didn't think we'd lose it, considering the race and considering Jack didn't have to stop riding. 'I do believe in my heart and soul it's the wrong decision and I will appeal it.'

Sheffield Wednesday players refuse to play friendly as wages are delayed again

Wednesday are currently under an English Football League embargo for unpaid transfer fees and owner Dejphon Chansiri is trying to sell the cash-strapped Sky Bet Championship club. The Owls appointed Henrik Pedersen as their new head coach on Thursday following the departure of Danny Rohl and, just hours later, Saturday's friendly was cancelled as players and coaching staff decided to boycott the match after not receiving July's monthly salary on time. Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has been in talks to sell the club (Mike Egerton/PA) Rohl left Hillsborough on Tuesday during a chaotic summer which has seen Wednesday placed under a number of embargoes because of financial issues. Players were paid late in May and June, while this is the fourth time in the last five months that salaries have been delayed. PA understands there is increasing concern within the EFL over the growing crisis at the club and that extends to whether Wednesday will be able to fulfil their opening Sky Bet Championship fixture at Leicester on August 10. Thai businessman Chansiri completed his takeover from previous owner Milan Mandaric January 2015 for a reported £30million and the club twice went close to promotion to the Premier League when losing out in the 2016 and 2017 play-offs. We are delighted to announce the appointment of Henrik Pedersen as our new manager. The Dane takes the S6 reins with immediate effect#swfc — Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) July 31, 2025 Since then Wednesday have lurched from one financial crisis to another. They were first placed under an EFL embargo in 2017 over profitability and sustainability rules and were docked 12 points – reduced to six on appeal – at the start of the 2020-21 season for further financial breaches. The Owls were placed under embargo for late salary payments to players and staff in 2024, while a player registration embargo is also in place for unpaid transfer fees. New boss Pedersen admitted the club were in 'rough waters' following his appointment, with registration restrictions and the departure of several key players leaving him with a threadbare squad. Josh Windass joined Wrexham after his Wednesday contract was ended by mutual consent (Mike Egerton/PA) Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba have been sold this summer to Rangers and Samsunspor respectively, while Josh Windass and Michael Smith had their contracts terminated by mutual consent to allow them to join Wrexham and Preston. The latest missed payments to players and staff heaps further pressure on Chansiri, who insists he is willing to sell the club for the right price. He recently revealed he had rejected one consortium's £40million bid, while talks with various other interested parties have stalled.

Hidden Jahmai Simpson-Pusey Celtic transfer 'clause' raises eyebrows as Sweden international scouted by Hoops

Brendan Rodgers is set to bolster his defence with the signing of Man City prodigy Simpson-Pusey Jahmai Simpson-Pusey will travel to Glasgow on Friday for a medical as the Manchester City starlet closes in on a season-long loan deal with Celtic. ‌ The 19-year-old stopper has agreed a switch to Parkhead after Brendan Rodgers fought off competition from other European clubs. ‌ Simpson-Pusey will compete with Auston Trusty, Liam Scales and Dane Murray for a start alongside first-choice Cameron Carter-Vickers. ‌ The England youth international has been tipped as the future of City's defence by Pep Guardiola after making six appearances last term - including a Champions League debut away to Sporting CP. Ex-Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew reckons the youngster - who was crowned EPL 2 Player of the Year - could quickly become a regular starter. He told Go Radio: "For me, it doesn't feel like Brendan Rodgers is completely satisfied with Trusty or Scales. He's tried to bring in Trusty when Scales was playing. Scales then gets back in. "So it indicates that he's not too sure and needs someone else to get back in alongside Carter-Vickers. "By the way, injuries look like they are catching up a wee bit on him. So they need another one in and Simpson-Pusey looks like the man. Man City will probably put some sort of clause that he'll need to play games or it will cost Celtic money. "It's interesting to put that on a 19-year-old. But you've got to trust Brendan Rodgers. You don't play for Man City if you are a bad player. He's young and bound to make a few mistakes. I'll be interested to see him." ‌ Simpson-Pusey's arrival could see Stephen Welsh leave the club either on loan or a permanent basis. The Hoops academy graduate has fallen out of favour under Rodgers and recently spent time on loan with Belgian side Mechelen. ‌ Mulgrew reckons a parting of ways is best for both parties as he said: "He's 25 years old. He's got to go. He's never going to be a regular at Celtic. Brendan Rodgers has shown that he's never going to start there. "He's been a decent enough servant. He's come in at times when they've struggled in that position and done ok. He's not a huge presence at the back. "The young lad's come through the system and done ok and he showed a good attitude. He was on loan last year and did ok. He looks like he's going to move on and it's best for all parties." ‌ Meanwhile Celtic scouts are reportedly watching Sweden international Viktor Eriksson in action for Hammarby. Valued at £2million, Eriksson joined Hammarby last season after a short stint in the MLS with Minnesota United. The 24-year-old made his international debut earlier this year and the Scottish Sun reports that Hoops talent spotter Paul Tisdale will run the rule over him in Thursday night's Conference League qualifier with Belgian side Charleroi.
