Born from the brain of renowned animator and director Joe Cappa (who has made original work for Adult Swim, Toro y Moi, Judd Apatow, Giphy and more), the clip for 'Deadhead' blends Joe's signature surrealist style with Foxwarren's indie-folk sensibilities.'I've been a long-time fan of Andy Shauf and Foxwarren so I was honoured to make something for them' says Joe. 'If I had it my way the video would be about a bunch of golfers in their mid 30s doing celebratory dances after sinking putts, but I was trying to keep it within the aesthetic of the album which was a little more rustic and nature-y. I'm happy with the end result.'
'I bought a bunch of wigs and medieval costumes and sort of came up with the premise of the video as I was dressing the puppets. When I put the blonde wig and mustache on the main character it really spoke to me. Those legs on the flute playing baby are my 10 month old son's.'
Foxwarren's Andy Shauf says that this music video is 'definitely the first time I've been brought to tears by a music video for my own song', which is high praise given that Shauf is a rage favourite specifically for the ambitiously weird (in the good way), usually animated music videos that have always accompanied his solo work.
The fantastical clip serves as a final preview for Foxwarren's new album, 2, and was created in the bands' own home studios across four Canadian provinces with band members Shauf, Avery and Darryl Kissick, Dallas Bryson, and Colin Nealis all collabing on shared song ideas, melodic phrases, and rhythmic bits in an online shared folder. Never let anyone tell you that WFH doesn't produce results.
A parting message from Foxwarren, to intrepid travellers: 'To all the deadheads, we say 'don't stop dancing.''

Dali painting bought at clearance sale worth $A61,000
A Salvador Dali painting that was discovered at a UK house clearance sale and bought for STG150 has been valued at up to STG30,000 ($A61,497) after it was authenticated as an original. The art dealer who purchased the piece discovered it had previously been offered for sale at Sotheby's in the 1990s fully attributed to Dali. The painting is to be offered for sale by auctioneers Cheffins on October 23. Gabrielle Downie from Cheffins, said: "The loss of an attribution is quite rare in the modern art world making this a significant rediscovery for Dali scholars. "To handle a genuine rediscovery of a work by who is easily one of the most famous artists in the world, and the godfather of Surrealism, is a real honour. "It has been an exciting process researching and having this painting authenticated and it is a testament to the seller's significant art knowledge that he was able to spot this picture at a house clearance sale. "While Dali's work is often some of the most recognisable, this is an unusual piece which shows a different side to his practice when working in watercolour." The artwork, titled Vecchio Sultano, was discovered in a Cambridge-based house clearance sale in 2023. It has been certified as authentic by Dali expert Nicolas Descharnes. The image, made with watercolour paint and felt tip, measures 38cm by 29cm. It is an illustration of a scene from The Arabian Nights, a series of 500 pieces which Dali intended to create of Middle Eastern folktales, which was commissioned by wealthy Italian couple Giuseppe and Mara Albaretto. "The Albarettos who commissioned this work had initially asked Dali to illustrate a bible in 1963, but upon Dali's insistence, he instead ended up illustrating scenes from 1001 Nights - a collection of Middle Eastern folktales," Downie said. "It seems Dali was fascinated with Moorish culture and believed himself to be from a Moorish line. "It seems that this project was abandoned, with Dali only having completed 100 of the intended 500 works. "Of these 100, half remained with the publishing house Rizzoli and were either damaged or lost; the other 50 stayed with the Albarettos and were later inherited by their daughter, Christina, who was also Dali's goddaughter." Jessie Murph has fans in an uproar. The 20-year-old singer, who has been compared to Amy Winehouse, sparked a social media firestorm over the music video to her risqué new song 1965. The video, which came out July 18, has been accused of glorifying pornography and domestic violence due to its graphic nature. Fans are particularly upset over a shocking sex scene that takes place in the middle of the video. In addition, a woman who appears to be Murph is depicted tied up while face down on a couch in the video. More fans slammed Murph for including a child in the video right before the sex scene. 'So so messed up,' a fan said. 'Not only is this song ahh, putting a child before such an explicit scene is crazy,' a different fan noted. 1965, which is from Murph's newly released second studio album Sex Hysteria, is filled with raunchy lyrics. 'We'd go to church on a Sunday, wake up on Monday/You'd go to work and I'd stay home and sing and do fun things/I might get a little slap-slap, but you wouldn't hit me on Snapchat,' Murph sings. 'I think I'd give up a few rights/If you would just love me like it's 1965,' she also sings. The Post has reached out to Murph's reps for comment. In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, Murph spoke about the intense reactions her music evokes from fans. 'I'm glad that I make people have some sort of reaction. I'd rather them be like, 'I hate you,' or 'I love you,' rather than, 'I feel indifferently,' I guess,' the Alabama native stated. 'But still, I just find it f***ing weird … I don't have any hate in my heart … That's been something that I've been trying to figure out how to navigate and not react and get mad because it totally makes me be like, 'F**k you, b*tch,'' she added. Days after releasing her new album, Murph's performance to 1965 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was similarly bashed by fans online.
