NADA India hosts WADA's Intelligence & Investigations Workshop in New Delhi
The event, organised under the aegis of WADA and in partnership with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, was attended by representatives from National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement agencies from India, Indonesia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and officials from the South Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization.
It brought together intelligence and investigations experts from across the globe to share knowledge, strengthen cooperation, and enhance the global anti-doping system, as per a press release from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Over the five-day workshop, participants engaged in comprehensive sessions on intelligence functions and investigative techniques, confidential source management, open-source research, and analytical and interviewing methods.
The sessions underscored the importance of proactive and coordinated approaches to safeguarding athletes and upholding the integrity of sport.
Anant Kumar, Director General of NADA India, stated, 'NADA India is honored to have had the privilege of hosting WADA, INTERPOL, Sport Integrity Australia, and our counterparts from the Asian region for this week's workshop. The knowledge gained and the connections made throughout the training will go a long way in establishing intelligence and investigations capability and capacity in the region.'
Gunter Younger, Director of Intelligence and Investigations at WADA, expressed his appreciation for being in India for the workshop under the Intelligence and Investigations Capability and Capacity Building Project in Asia and Oceania.
He stated, ' I am pleased with the progress we have made thus far in the region and have no doubt that it will make a marked impact in the protection of clean sport here and around the world.'
This workshop was part of the Capability and Capacity Building Project, a key initiative focused on strengthening WADA's Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN), and aimed at enhancing international collaboration and improving the overall effectiveness of anti- doping efforts worldwide.
In continuation of this initiative, a second workshop is scheduled to take place in India in July 2025. (ANI)

Additionally, Indian intelligence has linked the Irish-origin Kinahan cartel, operating from Dubai, to Hezbollah financing networks that are laundering Canadian drug money into Middle Eastern black markets. These assessments are reinforced by evidence gathered by the DEA, confirming the operational overlap between international crime syndicates and hostile state actors. The coordinated use of synthetic opioids, chemical precursors, and financial laundering by this ISI–China–Cartel axis constitutes a 'hybrid threat to national security," Indian intelligence warns. Agencies have so far identified over 40 Indo-Canadian operatives, including gurdwara-linked fundraisers and YouTube influencers, as part of the wider propaganda and logistical network. Controversy may help film's performance: Top court defers 'Udaipur Files' hearing

It's a thematic dissertation of hate... I am normally on the other side to say it should not be stopped... Please see the movie. It is something that generates violence-seeds violence-it's vilification of an entire community-violence, hate, homosexuality, denigration of women, child abuse by one community-unthinkable that a democratic nation would allow such a movie to be certified," Sibal Kant responded, "Our judicial officers are not school-going children that they can be swayed by movie dialogues... absolutely confident about their objectivity... sense of detachment." The court noted that Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act gave the central government the power to suspend or revoke court observed, "If the film is released then both these pleas are infructuous... the revision petition before the government is also infructuous."It added, "We have impressed on the counsels for the parties to join the proceedings before the government committee and extend their cooperation for speedy disposal."The Delhi High Court had earlier said, "The high court vide impugned judgment has not expressed any opinion on the merits, especially regarding the allegations regarding content of the movie." The order was passed in a batch of pleas, including one filed by Maulana Arshad Madani, who contended that the film was communally Lal Teli, an Udaipur-based tailor, was murdered in June 2022, allegedly by Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Ghous, who claimed it was in retaliation for a social media post in support of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma. The case was taken up by the National Investigation Agency and is under trial before a special NIA court in Jaipur. The film is based on these events.- Ends
