Italy set sights on bigger goals in Norway showdown
The Italians lost their final Group B game to Spain but managed to go through in second place thanks to a 1-0 win over Belgium and a 1-1 draw with Portugal to set up a meeting with the Norwegians, who won Group A with three wins out of three.
"The fact that we qualified in the quarter-finals gave us a lot of positive energy, (but) we immediately got back to work and we are preparing the game as we have prepared the others, taking care of every detail," Italy forward Sofia Cantore told reporters on Monday.
"Once you reach a small goal like this, you think about doing your best to reach another, so let's say there is maximum concentration for the next game and, beyond tactics, I think we should put in everything we have in our hearts."
After making it to the last four in six of the first seven Women's Euro competitions, Italy have struggled to reach those heights since.
"They (Norway) are a great team, they have very important personalities, and it will be important to be perfect tactically and then to hurt them where they will give us the space to hurt them," Cantore said.
"We have already shown during the whole competition ... we have character as a team. It's important to show our character in these games, I think we have a lot of it and we'll show it," she added.

Erling Haaland and his stunning girlfriend Isabel Haugseng look smitten as they attend Dolce & Gabbana show in Rome
Erling Haaland and his stunning girlfriend Isabel Haugseng looked smitten as they arrived at the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria show in Rome, Italy on Tuesday. The loved-up couple wore matching grey ensembles and held hands while walking into the event at Castel Sant'Angelo. The Manchester City forward, 24, was all smiles as he enjoyed his summer break on their romantic getaway. Fellow footballer and mother-of-one Isabel, 21, put on a very glamorous display in a dazzling sequin mesh dress. Erling has been an ambassador for the Dolce & Gabbana since 2023, after striking an endorsement deal up to £2million with the Italian brand. The footballer has been seen wearing the brand's clothes across his social media platforms. Erling has been looking to unwind following Man City's gruelling 2024-25 season, which came to an end just two weeks ago. Last week, the couple were spotted in Ibiza, with the couple on a yacht alongside Isabel's mother and their child, who was born last December. The couple have been very private with their child and they are yet to publicly announce its gender or name. Isabel is believed to have met Erling at the youth academy at Bryne, who they both played for. They started dating when he was at Borussia Dortmund, with Isabel making frequent trips to visit him. Despite a quiet private life and no social media presence, Isabel has been increasingly seen in the public eye during Erling's time at City, celebrating with him during their trophy successes. The 21-year-old wasn't present in the US for the Club World Cup and was rather cheering on Erling from home as he scored three goals in four games. The Norwegian international had been unable to help Pep Guardiola's side avoid an embarrassing exit at the hands of Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal in the Club World Cup round of 16. Erling scored in the clash, but was unable to help Pep Guardiola's side progress in the highly lucrative competition in the USA, eventually won by Chelsea. Elsewhere, the opportunity for Erling to get some extra rest rather than continue in the latter stages of the tournament may be welcomed by Guardiola given he previously expressed his concerns over the impact the summer schedule could have on City's upcoming season. Erling is among the Man City stars now embracing their time off before they have to return to pre-season training. Man City currently only have one pre-season match scheduled ahead of the new season, with Guardiola's side scheduled to face Palmero on August 9. The match will take place a week before the Man City begin their Premier League campaign away to Wolves.

Williamson ready to put Arsenal friendship aside for Blackstenius and Sweden test
Leah Williamson has described Arsenal teammate Stina Blackstenius as an 'incredibly powerful footballer' as the pair prepare to go head-to-head in the Euro 2025 quarter-final between England and Sweden. 'She's a great player and she has been for many years now,' said the England captain. 'Her experience speaks for itself. We were celebrating her success at Arsenal, but not so much now. We'll see. Stina is an incredibly powerful footballer and very intelligent with her runs. She's a hard player to play against in that respect.' The two players were on the same Arsenal side in May when Blackstenius scored the winner against Barcelona in the Champions League final. And trying to separate the friendship they have when they step on to the pitch in Zurich on Thursday can be challenging. 'It's different because playing each other in training comes with restrictions, it's rare that I get to play against Stina in this setting. I enjoy it, I like Stina,' Williamson said with a grin. 'It's tough to remove all of that to just go at it, you don't want to focus on it too much, there's lots of things that come into play when you play against a teammate, but I think I've known Stina long enough now that I know who she is and it's time to focus on us.' As a centre-back, Williamson will be directly up against her club colleague, but she is wary of pinpointing Blackstenius's threat alone. 'When you have a team who work for each other like Sweden, then you don't need to necessarily have a crazy standout threat because everyone plays their roles,' she said. 'They are hard to prepare for in that sense. The discipline for them all to complete their jobs on the pitch makes them a dangerous side.' Williamson's focus in this tournament is staying present, replicating her mantra of the 2022 Euros. 'I want to enjoy it and spend time with my teammates,' she said. 'It's a great environment and I love being around them all. Beth Mead was laughing at me the other day because I did the day in the life of her, which meant I didn't go back to my room and I was very sociable. By the end of the day I slept good. 'I said to her: 'I don't know how you do this every day,' and she said: 'This is my every day'. I said: 'Yes, it's crazy to me, I'm not that type of person'. But it's little things like that, just trying to be around more. In 2022 I slept most of the time that I wasn't on a pitch so yes, a bit different this time.' Sign up to Moving the Goalposts No topic is too small or too big for us to cover as we deliver a twice-weekly roundup of the wonderful world of women's football after newsletter promotion There is also praise for Jill Scott's presence, with the influential character having retired after the 2022 Euros. 'We can't get rid of her,' joked Williamson. 'I've already had a couple of conversations this tournament with Jill, one-to-one. She's a funny character, but she can be serious and she has so many experiences of her own and an incredible perspective, she does actually help us out. When she retired we were begging for somebody to employ her within the FA just to bring her along. I'm glad that she is here and she's found a way to be here. It's only ever a positive thing for the team. She's one of the greatest teammates I've ever had.'

Andy Carroll suffers nightmare return to English football as he debuts for non-league club in 5-1 loss - where Trialist B scored a brace!
Andy Carroll endured a debut to forget for Dagenham and Redbridge as the non-league club suffered a defeat to League Two outfit Crawley Town in a preseason friendly. Carroll, 36, came off the bench an hour into the game with his new team down 2-1, only for a player listed as 'Trialist B' to run riot with a double in the closing stages as Crawley ended up with a 5-1 victory. The former Liverpool and Newcastle striker was greeted warmly by the Dagenham fans but he could not stop Crawley from showing their superiority. Carroll, who at one point commanded a record transfer fee for a British player when he joined Liverpool from Newcastle for £35 million back in 2011, moved to the East London club earlier this summer. He has also become an investor in the non-league outfit. 'I'm really excited to get started with Dagenham,' said Carroll when he signed. A return to English football comes after Carroll spent two years in the French Ligue 2, first with Amiens and then Bordeaux. He started his career at Newcastle, making 143 appearances for the club in separate stints either side of his record move to Liverpool. Carroll also played for West Ham for seven years - again in separate spells - as well as Preston, West Brom and Reading. He has nine England caps and a pair of international goals to his name. Dagenham's competitive season gets underway on August 9th when they host Ebbsfleet United in the National League South, the sixth tier of English football.
