Four killed, three injured as lorry rams into car in Andhra Pradesh
Chinthakommadinne Police said a lorry transporting sugar from Lillipuram in Tamil Nadu to Hyderabad rammed into a car after reportedly suffering brake failure. A family was travelling from Bengaluru to their native village at Chintaputtayapalle in the car.
Police identified the deceased as Software Engineer Basineni Sreekanth Reddy (32), his wife Nagireddy Sirisha (27), and two children from their extended family – Harshitha Reddy (9) and Rishikesh Reddy (11). The accident left their daughter, Trishika Reddy, orphaned.
'Sreekanth Reddy, who worked as a software engineer in Bengaluru, was visiting his native village to attend the 41st-day celebrations of a newly consecrated Sri Rama temple he had built,' police said.
The family, including Sreekanth, Sirisha, their daughter Trishika, Sirisha's elder sister Kokatum Shashikala, her two children, and another relative, Siddhamurthy Swarna, were travelling in a KA 53 MN 2664 car. As they approached the fourth curve of the ghat, the speeding lorry crashed into the car, and sugar sacks from the vehicle fell onto it, crushing it completely.
Circle Inspector Shankar Naik, Brake Inspector Vijay Bhaskar, firefighters, and locals used a JCB and hydraulic cutter to rescue victims trapped in a mangled car.
Sreekanth and Sirisha died on the spot, while Harshitha and Rishikesh succumbed at the government hospital. Shashikala, who lost both her children, survived with injuries. She is the wife of software engineer Tirupathi Reddy, currently in Germany. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem and launched an investigation.

Bengali migrant worker forced into Bangladesh at gunpoint, alleges family
Family members of a 19-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal have alleged that he was forced into Bangladesh at gunpoint by the Border Security Force after being arrested and kept in a detention centre in Rajasthan for two months. After a video of the man, Amir Sheikh, speaking to residents in Bangladesh was widely circulated online, his family filed a police complaint, his uncle, Mohammed Ajmaul Sheikh, told Scroll on Saturday. In the video, Amir Sheikh can be heard saying that he is a resident of West Bengal's Malda. He said he was working in Rajasthan and the state police picked him up on suspicion of being a Bangladeshi. Amir Sheikh also claimed that he had shown his Aadhaar card and additional documents of his parents to the police, but they 'insisted on an ID proof', which he did not have. 'I do not know anybody in Bangladesh,' he can be heard saying. 'I have nothing to eat.' 'A contractor had informed us about his arrest and we had submitted all the documents with the help of him,' said Mohammed Ajmaul Sheikh. 'He had submitted Aadhaar and birth certificates. But they did not accept them.' The family also claimed that the Rajasthan Police had demanded Rs 50,000 to release Amir Sheikh. 'But we were unable to manage the money and he spent two months at a detention centre in Rajasthan,' said Mohammed Ajmaul Sheikh. He added that the family did not know about Amir Sheikh's whereabouts till the video appeared online. 'We spoke with him once after a Bangladeshi person made a call to us,' said Mohammed Ajmaul Sheikh. He also claimed that the Border Security Force had assaulted Amir Sheikh. The family has filed a police complaint in West Bengal, stating that they possess documents proving they have been living in India since the 1950s. This comes amid the Trinamool Congress raising alarms about reports alleging that several Bengali-speaking migrant workers had been detained in parts of the country on suspicion of being Bangladeshis. Since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the police in several states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party have been detaining Bengali-speaking persons – mostly Muslims – and asking them to prove that they are Indian citizens. Several persons have been forced into Bangladesh after they allegedly could not prove their Indian citizenship. In some cases, individuals who were mistakenly sent to Bangladesh returned to the country after state authorities in India proved that they were Indians. In May, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs directed the states and Union Territories to verify the credentials of persons suspected to be undocumented migrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar. On July 19, the police in Gurugram detained at least 74 migrant workers on the suspicion that they were from Bangladesh, The Wire reported. Of these, 11 were from West Bengal and 63 from Assam. Scroll reported on Tuesday that even the son of an Assam Police constable was detained on suspicion of being an undocumented Bangladeshi immigrant. On Wednesday, Human Rights Watch said India should stop unlawfully deporting people to Bangladesh without due process. The organisation said that the government should instead 'ensure everyone's access to procedural safeguards to protect against arbitrary detention and expulsion'.

Motorcyclist, homeless man die in separate road accidents in Delhi
A 22-year-old motorcyclist died after he was hit by a JCB machine in Central Delhi's Ranjit Nagar area early on Friday, the Delhi Police said. The deceased has been identified as Bobby, a resident of Inderpuri, the police said, adding that the accident occurred near Metro pillar no 216 around 6 am while he was proceeding towards the Shadipur Metro station. 'A JCB and a Duke bike were found in an accidental condition, and there was a pool of blood on the road. During the inquiry, it came to the notice that the injured had been taken by a CAT ambulance to Acharya Bhikhsu hospital,' Nidhin Valsan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central, said. The hospital authorities said that Bobby was brought dead. The crime team reached the spot and collected blood samples, the police said, adding that the JCB machine has been confiscated. The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the JCB driver, who is absconding, said an officer. In another road accident case, a pavement dweller was mowed down by a speeding cab in the Civil Lines area of North Delhi on Tuesday morning, while another person was injured. The two men, who used to beg at the nearby traffic signal, came under the car and one of them, aged 45, died on the spot, said an officer. According to the First Information Report, the accident happened around 8 am, when the cab coming from the Majnu Ka Tila side lost control and rammed onto the footpath in front of the Monastery Market on Outer Ring Road. The police said the injured homeless man is being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre. An FIR has been registered at the Civil Lines police station.

The release of disturbing new documents about the horrific Idaho murders shed light on the slaying of four University of Idaho students, revealing gruesome details about the crime carried out by the convicted murderer Bryan Kohberger. Police added that they found her lying in the bathroom, wearing a shirt and underwear with defensive wounds on her hand, including a deep cut between her thumb and pointer on the left hand. The police shared, 'I looked inside the bedroom Xana was lying in and it was obvious an intense struggle had occurred,' where they also found Chapin, also 20, dead under the blanket with "arterial blood spray'. Kohberger stabbed Goncalves, 21, more than 20 times, the police revealed, 'unrecognizable' as he lay in a pool of blood on the bed in the bedroom located on the third floor. She was found alongside Mogen, also 21, who was covered with a blanket that turned pink from the blood. The records revealed, 'Kaylee was unrecognizable as her facial structure was extremely damaged,' describing that she sustained blunt force and asphyxia injuries, resulting from the sharp, single-edge blade, which pierced her lung, liver, and various arteries. Before locking herself in a room with Bethany Funke around 4:30 am, she called a friend to come over to 'check the house because she was too scared'. Both survived the massacre. While the Ka-Bar sheath was found at the scene, the actual murder weapon was never found.
