Oman and Bahrain host "Russian Seasons" events
In the capital of Oman, Muscat, the city's main square hosted the grand concert programme "The World Through Dance", featuring the legendary State Academic Honoured Dance Ensemble of Dagestan, "Lezginka". Performing in Oman for the first time, the ensemble captivated the audience with its vivid and emotional choreographic numbers, immersing spectators in the atmosphere of the Caucasus.
In addition, masterclasses and themed events dedicated to Russian traditions took place at the Spring Festival venue. Residents of Muscat became acquainted with the customs of Russian Maslenitsa, tasted blini (pancakes), learnt the art of painting Tula gingerbread, and tried their hand at making clay toys. The programme continued with engaging educational activities, where children created their own animated films and discovered the secrets of animation.
On the stage of the Bahrain National Theatre, the "Lezginka" ensemble presented the same programme as in Oman, performing choreographic compositions such as "Welcoming Lezginka", "My Heart is in the Mountains," "Celebration in a Mountain Village," and "Daggers". The concert was met with enthusiastic applause from the local audience.
Children in Bahrain also took part in masterclasses on creating animated films, with more than 60 children participating over two days. Professional animators from Russia delivered lectures on new technologies in animation, sparking interest among local specialists.
"I am delighted to provide a platform for joint projects between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and 'Russian Seasons.' Our programme includes events for children, where they create their own animated films based on Russian folklore. I just attended such an event at the library and saw how passionately Bahraini schoolchildren engaged in the activity! I look forward to further collaboration with 'Russian Seasons'," said Haya Ahmed Al Sadah, Director of the National Museum of Bahrain.
The "Russian Seasons" events in Oman and Bahrain will continue throughout the year. This large-scale project, initiated by the Government of Russia and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, aims to introduce international audiences to the country's rich cultural heritage through concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, film festivals, educational programmes, and other events.

Russian-Egyptian showdown marks World Chess Day at Russian House in Cairo
The Russian House in Cairo hosted a friendly chess tournament bringing together Egyptian and Russian players of all ages and skill levels to celebrate World Chess Day and promote cultural exchange through strategic play. The Chess Club at the Russian House in Cairo, under the supervision of Yustina Sabry, organized a special tournament that brought together chess enthusiasts of all ages — from budding young talents to seasoned professionals — on 27 July to celebrate World Chess Day. Before the tournament, Arsenii Matiushchenko, acting director of Russian Cultural Centres in Egypt, welcomed the participants with a speech highlighting chess as a universal game that unites people across cultures and generations. He emphasized that chess is not only an intellectually stimulating game but also plays a key role in developing essential personal skills. Attendees were also shown a signed board by Russian chess legend and former World Champion Anatoly Karpov, who autographed it during a previous visit to Cairo. The tournament followed the Swiss system, which allows each participant to play several matches against opponents of similar skill levels, ensuring a balanced and engaging competition. Chessboards across the venue witnessed intense strategic battles, where tactical thinking and a passion for victory were on full display. Among the competitors were both Egyptian and Russian players, including Matiushchenko himself and Anna Khlistova, a senior specialist at the Russian Federal Agency for International Cooperation. Matches were played in a friendly and respectful atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of cultural exchange. Known for their distinctive sound and socially conscious lyrics, Massar Egbari regularly sells out concerts across Egypt and has performed both regionally and internationally. El Qasseer, an Egyptian saxophonist and composer, is renowned for his dynamic performances and a prominent presence in Cairo's vibrant jazz circuit. Hisham Kharma - 9pm Khaled Selim - 10pm Thursday 31 July, Alexandria International Sports Stadium Hisham Kharma began performing live concerts in 2016, often accompanied by a grand orchestra. He has headlined major events at iconic venues, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Cairo Citadel, and London's Mansion House. Kharma is also known for composing the theme music for numerous national events and key Egyptian institutions. Singer Khaled Selim rose to fame with Eish (Live), the theme song of the 2001 film El-Sellem w El-Te'ban. Since then, he has released several popular albums and starred in a range of movies and television series. Mohamed Ramadan - music Thursday 31 July, 10pm Porto Golf, Al-Alamein, North Coast One of Egypt's best-known actors-turned-rappers, Mohamed Ramadan, 36, rose to fame through cinema and television before launching a parallel music career over the past six years. He is known for a string of rap-mahraganat hits, including Balalein, Number One, Ala Allah, Taaleily, Mafia, Tanteet, Zilzal, Coronavirus, and Aladdin Lamp, among others. Many of his songs score high viewership on YouTube and streaming platforms. His track Bum Bum, for example, exceeded 200 million views shortly after release. 1st Direct Flight from Moscow to Pyongyang Lands
Rana Atef The first direct flight from the Russian capital, Moscow, to North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, landed on Monday morning. According to Russia's Interfax news agency, the aircraft departed from Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow on Sunday evening, with the flight lasting approximately eight hours. The return flight from Pyongyang to Moscow is scheduled to depart on Tuesday morning.
