Many have expected the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes to finally begin this offseason after another tragically failed playoff run for the Milwaukee Bucks. The time could finally be here according to the ESPN insider.

Antetokounmpo could extend Warriors dynasty
Charania reported earlier today that this is the closest the Greek Freak has come to seriously considering a massive change for his career.
"The two-time NBA MVP has not made any firm decisions on his Bucks future after the franchise's third consecutive postseason exit in the first round, but, for the first time in his career, Antetokounmpo is open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere, league sources told ESPN."

The NBA insider added the following sentiment in that same report.
"Any conversations surrounding the perennial All-NBA superstar and 2021 NBA champion start primarily with where he believes his long-term future lies and whether there is a franchise outside of Milwaukee that is sensible for him."

If this is the offseason when Antetokounmpo finally gives up on his time in Milwaukee, the Warriors will have an opportunity to bolster an already strong situation.

After adding Jimmy Butler, Golden State looked like a team reborn. Throwing Antetokounmpo into the mix would not only bust open the window to win now, but greatly increase their chances of continuing the Golden Dynasty for years to come.
Superstars like the two-time MVP do not hit the trade market often. Should that be the case this summer, the Warriors front office would be wise to actively involve themselves in the pursuit.

Napheesa Collier injury update: Lynx star out two weeks with ankle sprain
A blowout victory over the Las Vegas Aces came at a cost for the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 2. With less than a minute left in the third quarter and the Lynx holding a commanding 43-point lead over the Aces, Minnesota star Napheesa Collier collided with teammate Alanna Smith and landed awkwardly on her right foot. The five-time All-Star remained on the floor for a couple of minutes before walking off the court under her power – but with assistance. Following the game, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said that Collier would undergo further testing to figure out the extent of her injury. Collier has already missed three games this season. Collier is averaging a career-high 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in her seventh WNBA season. The 2024 Defensive Player of the Year is the current favorite to win 2025 MVP honors and was named Western Conference Player of the Month for July. She sat out the fourth quarter and was officially ruled out of the game midway through the fourth quarter. On Sunday, Aug. 3, Collier had further testing to find out the extent of her injury. According to an ESPN report, Collier will be out for two weeks with a right ankle sprain. However, the good news is that Collier avoided a major injury. The Lynx released an official statement on Collier's injury on Monday, Aug. 4: "After undergoing an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), Collier was evaluated by team physician Dr. Elena Jelsing at Mayo Clinic Square, where a right ankle sprain was confirmed. Collier will be re-evaluated in the coming weeks and further updates on her progress will be provided when available." 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings (calf) remains out of practice
Before training camp opened, reports emerged that 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings wanted a new contract or a trade. He didn't hold out. He could be holding in. Jennings suffered a calf injury during training camp on July 27. (It apparently was an aggravation of an offseason injury.) He has yet to practice since then. On Monday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about Jennings's ongoing absence. 'Same thing with his calf,' Shanahan said. Shanahan then was asked if it's 'definitely health-related, not business-related'? 'You can ask him that, but he tells me it's his calf and the calf shows,' Shanahan said. 'So, got to be delicate with those calves.' It could be a combination of health and business. If Jennings was happy with his contract, maybe he'd push through it. Because he isn't happy with his contract, he isn't. Jennings is in the second year of a two-year, $11.89 million contract. The contract was surprisingly light, given that he had a Super Bowl LVIII performance that had him on the short list of potential MVP candidates, before the 49ers lost to the Chiefs. Last year, Jennings had a career-high 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns. With Deebo Samuel gone and Brandon Aiyuk still recovering from a torn ACL suffered during the 2024 season, Jennings seems to merit an increase. He may not be doing much until he gets one.
