Employee arrested for staging fake robbery, cash recovered from his friends
The trader entrusted the amount to his employee, 32-year-old Pramod Shinde, to purchase jamun from the Andhra Pradesh market. On the night of June 2, while en route to AP, the pickup goods van was stopped along the roadside after Shinde reported vomiting. As he exited the vehicle, a car containing three men arrived, assaulted Shinde, and used chilli spray on the van's driver.
The assailants seized the bag containing the cash.
Abhijeet Wadkar (25), the driver of the van, filed a complaint at the Umadi police station.
"We immediately started suspecting the two. We learnt that Shinde was in touch with the three who came to rob them. Shinde made the whole plan and assured a share of the money to the three accomplices. We immediately arrested two of them and recovered all the cash stolen by them," said Sandip Kamble, the assistant inspector of Umadi police station.
The men arrested are Siddheshwar Dange (27) and Toufik Maneri (35), both also from Sangola in Solapur district. The third suspect remains at large.

Bengaluru: Ina major crackdown on land encroachments, the Bengaluru Urban District Administration has reclaimed over 8 acres of government land worth approximately Rs 50.05 crore from illegal occupation across various taluks on Friday. The operation, led by Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, was carried out simultaneously across multiple locations under the supervision of respective tahsildars. Encroachments on gomala (grazing lands), burial grounds, pathways, and community spaces were cleared in a coordinated drive. Among the key recoveries: In KR Puram hobli of Bengaluru East taluk, 0.04 gunta of gundu topu land in Kodigehalli village, valued at ₹2.5 crore, was reclaimed; in Varthur hobli's Valepura village, 0.20 gunta of gomala land worth ₹5 crore was freed from encroachment; Anekal taluk saw the clearance of 0.01 gunta of gomala land in Ramanayakanahalli, Sarjapur hobli, valued at ₹35,000; in Bengaluru South, 0.01 gunta of encroached burial ground land in Parappana Agrahara village was cleared, along with 0.18 gunta of gundu topu in Vajrahalli village, worth around ₹25 crore and in Tavarekere hobli, encroachments were cleared from a pathway between Jogerahalli and Naganahalli villages, totaling 0.15 gunta, valued at ₹45,000. Further north, in Dasanapura hobli of Bengaluru North taluk, authorities recovered 2 acres and 0.22 gunta of gomala land in Bommashettihalli village worth ₹5.1 crore, and smaller tracts in Venkattapura and Hosahalligollarapalya villages. In Yelahanka taluk, 3 acres and 0.22 gunta of land in Kakolu village, Hesaraghatta hobli, valued at ₹10.5 crore, was reclaimed. According to officials,these actions are part of an ongoing effort to reclaim public land and protect government property from encroachment. Further drives are expected in the coming weeks.

UP ATS Busts Major Conversion Racket, Mastermind Held; Foreign Funding Under Scanner
The authorities have arrested Jamaluddin, also known as 'Changur Baba,' the alleged mastermind who had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) dismantled a major illegal religious conversion racket operating out of Balrampur district, said officials. Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said the accused operated a widespread network targeting girls from a specific religious group, with alleged caste-based 'conversion rates". The operation was reportedly backed by foreign funding amounting to nearly Rs 100 crore, the official said, adding that the funds are suspected to have originated from Islamic countries. Investigators revealed that the accused used the funds to acquire multiple luxury properties, bungalows, high-end vehicles, and showrooms. Over 40 bank accounts—some opened under fictitious names—were used to route the money, suggesting large-scale money laundering. Sources told News18 that Changur Baba had earlier been involved in gemstone sales and rose to prominence after a stint in Mumbai, allegedly through contacts with a Sindhi couple. One of his close aides, Markandey Mishra, said that Changur Baba had predetermined conversion rates for Hindu girls and used his residence and shrine to further his agenda. Another associate, Mohammad Ahmed Khan, is said to have helped manage and secure Baba's illicit properties across various locations. Khan, described as the 'right hand" of Changur Baba, has multiple criminal cases registered against him in Balrampur, Ambedkar Nagar, and Lucknow. Sources alleged that he used these assets for anti-national activities. ATS sources also indicated that part of the foreign funding was used to purchase a significant property in Pune. Investigations into the financial trail and political links are ongoing. News18 accessed the hotel ID records of Jamaluddin and Neetu, revealing the room where they were hiding at the time of arrest. The details, including hotel registers, have been shared with authorities. BJP MP Dr Nishikant Dubey questioned the larger political motive behind such conversions, claiming Jamaluddin (alias Changur Baba) and Nasreen (formerly Nusrat) received hundreds of crores to convert Hindus in India and Nepal, allegedly for vote-bank politics.
