Prices of imported palm oil have fallen by $30 per tonne to $1,060 per tonne, soya oil by $20 per tonne to $1,150 per tonne, and sunflower oil by $10 per tonne to $1,200 per tonne in the past three days, said industry executives.
'Prices had gone up after tension escalated between Iran and Israel. Additionally, the congestion at Kandla Port had further pushed up prices, as the domestic edible oil industry feared a shortage of imported oil. But the situation has eased now and prices have started falling,' said Sandeep Bajoria, CEO of Sunvin Group, a Mumbai-based oil trading company.
'Prices have fallen by ₹3 per kg in the last two days for all categories of oil. There is no dearth of edible oil now. Prices are under pressure. For consumers, prices may fall by 2–3%,' said Pradeep Chowdhary, Managing Director of Gemini Edibles and Fats.

While palm oil comes from Malaysia and Indonesia, India imports soya oil and sunflower oil from Argentina, Brazil, Russia and Ukraine.
India's edible oil imports fell for the sixth consecutive month in May by 22.36% year-on-year to 1.19 million tonnes, according to data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA).
As per SEA data, palm oil imports declined 22.32% to about 592,000 tonnes in May from about 763,000 tonnes a year ago. Soybean oil imports fell 23% to about 398,000 tonnes, while sunflower oil imports plunged 55.30% to about 183,000 tonnes.
The share of palm oil has decreased to 42% from 58% in the past seven months of the current oil year, which began in November 2024, while that of soft oils such as sunflower and soybean oils has increased to 57% from 42%.

New Delhi: The BSES discoms, BRPL and BYPL, energised over 10,000 solar connections in Delhi, contributing 220 Megawatt peak (MWp) of green energy and helping consumers save Rs 160 crore annually. The highest number of installed rooftop solar net metering connections, about 6,900, is in the domestic category, followed by 1,771 commercial, nearly 1,000 educational, 165 industrial, and 240 other types, said a BSES spokesperson. Every kilowatt (kW) of rooftop solar power generates about 100 to 120 units of electricity every month, and the system's cost can be recovered in three to four years, the official said. New Delhi: The standing committee of Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Wednesday approved several infrastructure and civic projects, which were pending due to its non-formation for over two years. The projects included construction of an ingesta plant at the Ghazipur slaughterhouse for processing paunch waste and a dedicated automated parking at Bharat Darshan Park, phase-wise replacement and maintenance of LED public lights in four zones, comprehensive maintenance of 24 mechanical road sweepers and procurement of 17 backhoe loaders for better sanitation services in four zones. The committee gave the nod to the rate and the agency for the construction of a multilevel puzzle parking for 188 vehicles at Bharat Darshan Park. "Equipped with advanced technology, the facility at such a high-footfall tourist destination will help regulate traffic and provide relief to visitors," said standing committee chairman Satya Sharma. The agency will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the parking for 10 years. The Rs 31.6-crore project will be completed in 12 months. After multiple efforts, MCD identified an agency for running the ingesta plant last year. A comprehensive proposal to replace approximately four lakh LED lights on streets, parks, etc., in a phased manner across Central, South, West and Najafgarh zones was also approved with conditions. The proposal, costing Rs 1,144.3 crore, also includes the operation and maintenance of these lights for 10 years. It received the administrative approval and expenditure sanction in an MCD house meeting earlier. However, it needed a final nod from the standing committee for finalising the rate and the agency. A proposal related to strengthening the sanitation system and improving garbage collection in Central zone for six months and another for procuring 17 backhoe loaders for West, Najafgarh, Central and South zones were also passed. A decision to extend the service of 11 NGOs to manage 12 cremation grounds was approved. "A decision has been taken to extend their agreement till Dec 31, 2026," MCD stated. The standing committee also okayed the site regarding the development and construction of a DTC depot at the Hari Nagar facility.
