'Advanced stage of decomposition': Pak actress Humaira Asghar Ali's body found filled with insects, 'black-coloured mass'; police say remains lay in Karachi flat for 8–10 months
Her body was discovered last week by a police team executing a court order to vacate the flat.
According to Geo News, which cited the initial post-mortem findings, the body was in an 'advanced stage of decomposition.' Facial muscles had deteriorated, fingers and nails were reduced to bone, and large parts of the body had no muscle tissue left. The bones reportedly began to fall apart when touched.
Humaira had acted in several television serials and two films.
She lived alone in an apartment in the upscale Defence Housing Society.
The report also said that her internal organs had turned into a 'black-coloured mass' and brain matter was entirely decomposed due to autolysis. Cartilage in the joints was gone, though no bone fractures were found. While the head and spine remained intact, the spinal cord was missing. Brown-coloured insects were reportedly present, especially in the hair, but no maggots were found.

Because of the severe state of decay, experts were unable to determine the exact cause of death at this stage. However, DNA profiling and toxicology tests are underway and are expected to offer further insight.
Initially, police said that her family refused to take the body. 'Her family members have flatly refused to own her or take the body for burial,' DIG South Zone Asad Reza said, adding they claimed to have severed all ties with her two years ago. He said the case posed unusual challenges, especially since her death had gone unnoticed for such a long time and no neighbours appeared to have raised any concerns.
Geo News later confirmed that her family received the remains on Thursday and transported them to Lahore by ambulance.

Man ends life alleging police harassment, investigation on
Kanpur: The Human Rights Commission has initiated suo motu proceedings regarding Farrukhabad man's death by suicide, who left a note on his trousers describing police harassment. The commission, considering media reports, deemed this a grave human rights violation and sought a comprehensive report from the Director General of Police (DGP) within a fortnight. This development has raised questions over the working of the district police department, though the police had already arrested and sent the responsible police personnel and a fraudulent MP representative to jail after registering a case against them. The commission investigated the suicide of a man who was troubled by the police's mistreatment during a marital dispute. On July 15, Dilip Kumar Rajput (25), from Chheda Nagla village in the Maudarwaja police station area, ended his life by hanging from a ceiling fan hook with a saree. His suicide note, written on white trousers, detailed the police's misconduct and violence, specifically accusing two Hathiyapur outpost personnel of harassment and extracting Rs 40,000 for his release. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Live Comfortably: 60m2 prefabricated bungalow for the elderly in Lidah Kulon Pre Fabricated Homes | Search Ads Search Now Undo Following the deceased's father's complaint, police filed charges against five people--father-in-law Banwari Lal, brother-in-law Raju, fraudulent MP representative Rajneesh Rajput of Alupur village, and constables Yashwant Yadav and Mahesh Upadhyay for abetting suicide. Dibrugarh cops conduct anti-sabotage checks ahead of I-Day & Ulfa-I's Martyrs' Day
Dibrugarh: In a high-security operation ahead of Independence Day and Ulfa (Independent)'s Martyrs' Day, Dibrugarh Police on Saturday conducted extensive anti-sabotage checks across critical installations and public spaces in the city. While the nation will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on Aug 15, the banned militant outfit has been observing July 27 as Swahid Diwas (Martyrs' Day) to honour its cadres who died fighting for a 'sovereign Assam." Led by Dibrugarh senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rakesh Reddy, the day-long operation involved sniffer dogs, explosive detectors and multiple police teams sweeping through busy marketplaces, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure, with officials describing the exercise as a 'preemptive security measure.' "We are conducting extensive anti-sabotage checks in light of the upcoming Independence Day and Ulfa-I's Martyrs' Day. This is a critical part of our strategy to ensure foolproof security. Our goal is not just to prevent threats, but also to reassure the public that their safety is our top priority," Reddy said. The SSP added that the operation was purely preventive and urged citizens to remain calm. "There is no need for panic. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Female Athletes Right Now Undo Our security forces are fully prepared and these checks will continue in the coming days. However, public cooperation is essential," Reddy said. Security agencies in Dibrugarh remain on high alert during this period, given Ulfa-I's history of attempting to disrupt activities around 'Swahid Diwas' and Independence Day. Police have intensified patrolling and surveillance, particularly in crowded areas and near govt buildings.
