Oasis kicked off their reunion tour Friday night in Cardiff, Wales and paid tribute to the late Diogo Jota, who was killed in a car crash in Spain along with his brother, André Silva, on Thursday.
As the band finished their performance of "Live Forever," projectors behind the stage displayed an image of Jota from behind in his No. 20 Liverpool jersey. That drew a loud ovation from the sold-out crowd inside Principality Stadium.
Oasis frontmen, Liam and Noel Gallagher, are noted fans of Manchester City, Liverpool's Premier League rivals.

Supporting act Cast honored Jota earlier in the show with lead singer John Power dedicating "Walkaway" to Jota. "This is Walkaway. This one is for Diogo Jota. Take it easy, brother," Power said.

Tributes continue as Jota, Silva are laid to rest
The investigation into what caused the crash that killed Jota, 28, and Silva, 25, remains on-going. The Spanish Civil Guard confirmed that the car they were in went off the road near Zamora, Spain. The Lamborghini was found in flames and firefighters were called in to prevent the flames from spreading.
Investigators are unsure who was driving the car, and are looking into whether a blown tire led to the crash, which occurred shortly after midnight local time.

The brothers' bodies were returned to Portugal on Thursday and a wake was held in Gondomar on Friday. Members of the football world, including many current and former teammates were in attendance during Saturday's funeral.
Tributes from around the world continued for the brothers in the days after the crash. Portugal teammates João Cancelo and Rúben Neves were in Orlando for the FIFA Club World Cup and were emotional when a moment of silence took place before their match with Al-Hilal against Fluminense on Friday.
At Wimbledon, Portuguese tennis players Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral wore black ribbons during their individual matches on Friday. The All-England Club has a strict all-white dress code for players, but Borges and Cabral were given special permission to wear the ribbons.

The world's best players pay tribute to Diogo Jota

Some of the world's very best players have paid tribute to Diogo Jota at the FIFA Club World Cup. The world is still attempting to come to terms with the death of Diogo Jota on Thursday morning. Though, that suggests it's even possible to. There's been a far-reaching impact here and it's going to take a long, long time to settle down. One thing all this grief has done is make it overwhelmingly apparent that Jota was loved and respected by everyone. Someone who seems to have been as nice and as down to earth as you could possibly get in elite-level football. Perhaps that's something you hear about everyone who loses their life prematurely but it genuinely appears to be the case here. Everyone loved Jota. Advertisement That respect has certainly pushed on out beyond just Liverpool FC and his other previous clubs. Diogo Jota tributes at the FIFA Club World Cup Both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid played matches on Saturday - their first fixtures since the tragedy. Both games featured tributes to Jota, too. There were the minute silences before the fixtures, of course. Both clubs featured stars who'd played with Jota, too. And two who didn't made sure to pay tribute on the grandest stage they could. Ousmane Dembélé scored for PSG against Bayern Munich, wrapping the win up on 96 minutes. His celebration was to sit down and play video games, as Jota famously did a few years ago after scoring for Liverpool. Advertisement Kylian Mbappe followed suit in the later match. He scored Real Madrid's third against Borussia Dortmund with an acrobatic volley. And after doing so, the Frenchman ran to the camera and held up the number 20 with his fingers before clasping his hands together. It was a muted but touching tribute to Jota.

Pamplona draws thousands of revelers for the San Fermín bull-running festival

PAMPLONA, Spain (AP) — Tens of thousands of revelers packed the main square in Pamplona's, northern Spain, on Sunday to celebrate the traditional 'chupinazo' firework blast that marks the start of the San Fermín bull-running festival. Nearly everyone, including the throngs of foreign tourists who come to the event, was dressed in the traditional garb of white trousers and shirt with red sash and neckerchief. They sang. They shouted. And they drank alcohol with abandon. As the rocket that starts the official party was fired off, many doused each other with red or sparkling wine. The highlight of the controversial nine-day festival is the early morning 'encierros,' or bull runs, starting on Monday, when thousands of brave or foolhardy souls sprint to avoid six bulls charging along a winding cobblestoned route to the city's bullring. While gorings are not rare, many more people suffer contusions from falls as spectators watch from balconies and wooden barricades set up along the course. The spectacle is televised nationally. The rest of each day is for eating, drinking, dancing and cultural entertainment, including bull fights where the animals that run in the morning are slain by professional matadors each afternoon. The festival was made internationally famous by Ernest Hemingway 's classic 1926 novel ' The Sun Also Rises ' about American bohemians wasting away in Europe. ___ Wilson reported from Barcelona, Spain.
