Actress Ruth Jones to guest present The Archers Podcast
The podcast will be available exclusively on BBC Sounds from 7.15pm on Friday.
Jones, who co-wrote and co-starred in Gavin & Stacey, described herself as a 'massive Archers addict'.
In the podcast she delves into the Carter family's complex history, including Chris's turbulent relationship with Alice and a powerful archive flashback to his birth in 1988, when he was born with a unilateral cleft lip and rejected by his mother.
Jones also picks her two favourite scenes of the week, reveals her favourite quirky Archers character traits, and poses some burning questions about unresolved storylines in the fictional village of Ambridge.
Jones said: 'I've been an avid fan of The Archers since the early 90s.
'Despite being an actress and writer myself, the thought of actually being in The Archers, or writing it, absolutely terrifies me because in my mind Ambridge really exists.'
The Archers Podcast is released weekly every Friday, immediately after The Archers is broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
It is usually presented by Emma Freud, who is on holiday this week.
The first national episode of The Archers was broadcast on the BBC on January 1 1951.

During these TikTok sessions – some running well into the early hours – Blades is seen smiling, singing, and declaring himself a 'born again Christian', praising the 'greatness of God' to hundreds of viewers at a time. Police said in a statement on Monday night that the 55-year-old father-of-three would appear at magistrates' court next Wednesday. A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025.' Blades is currently awaiting trial on a separate charge of coercive control of his estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen. He denied the allegation when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court last October. The star was charged last September with a single count of 'controlling and coercive behaviour' between January 1 2023 and September 12 2024. The single charge relates to his fitness instructor wife Ms Zbozen, who announced on Instagram on May 2 last year that she had walked out of the marriage. The BBC show, which started on daytime TV in 2017 before moving to a primetime slot, saw Blades become one of the best-known faces on British TV. He was honoured with an MBE in 2021. Jay Blades in court after separate rape charges emerge
TV presenter Jay Blades has appeared in court on a controlling or coercive behaviour charge after it emerged he has been separately accused of two counts of rape. West Mercia Police said the 55-year-old is due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on August 13 on the rape charges. On Tuesday, Blades, who fronted primetime BBC show The Repair Shop, appeared at Worcester Crown Court via video link for a preliminary hearing in relation to the controlling or coercive behaviour charge. Blades, who wore animal-print spectacles, a grey suit and a blue polka-dot tie, spoke only to confirm his name during a short hearing. The TV star previously denied engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour towards his estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen between January 1 2023 and September 12 last year. He faces trial at a later date. In a statement on Tuesday, police also confirmed separate charges of rape. The force said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court on 13 August 2025.'
