The Origins of the Harp

Epoch Times30-06-2025

It also contained magical powers. By plucking its strings, the Dagda could influence man's emotions and wield control over the weather.

TravisMathew, Guinness team up for epic shoe drop in ode to centuries of Irish heritage

The 2025 Open Championship is being held at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland this week, as 156 of the world's best golfers descend upon the UK for the final major event of the 2025 season. And nothing goes together like some Irish golf and a pint of Guinness. TravisMathew teamed up with the iconic beer brand to make a must-have collector's item that pays homage to the rich heritage of links golf and, of course, that tasty, creamy Irish stout. Behold, the TravisMathew x Guinness Daily Pro Plus Golf Shoe. Shop TravisMatthew x Guinness golf shoe TravisMathew will only produce 1,759 pairs of this limited edition footwear piece — an ode to the year Guinness was born: 1759. That's when Arthur Guinness opened St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin, just a few hours' drive south from the island's northern coast, where Royal Portrush rests in all its majesty. The design features the iconic harp emblem on both the heel and the tongue, and the bottom of the shoe looks exactly like a proper pour of Guinness — a dark brown hue toward the back which gradually turns into light tan at the front. The shoe itself — TravisMathew's Daily Pro Plus — is one of Golfweek's 12 favorite shoes for summer 2025, epitomizing the versatility of a casual golf shoe while ensuring stability and comfort on the course. If you order a pair, you'll also receive a collector's kit, complete with a custom-designed box and a matching putter cover, which features a design inspired by artwork from Guinness labels and beer coasters.
