Zakharova: Information on Istanbul talks to be aired via official media
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized publications about Russia's participation in the Ukraine settlement negotiations in Turkey and confirmed that the Russian side will announce relevant information through official channels.
Commenting on reports claiming to have published details and information about Russia's participation in the negotiations, Zakharova told Sputnik Radio: "Yesterday, I had to read all this correspondence between the universe and the galaxies on anonymous social media accounts," according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
Zakharova confirmed that the Russian side will issue an official announcement regarding the negotiations.
On Sunday, President Putin addressed representatives of the Russian and international media, proposing to Ukraine the resumption of direct negotiations without preconditions in Istanbul on May 15 and stressing that he does not rule out a genuine ceasefire that Kyiv would adhere to.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the Russian delegation will be in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday and will wait for the Ukrainian side there.
For his part, US President Donald Trump called on the authorities in Kyiv to "immediately" accept Putin's proposal to hold talks in Türkiye. Trump said such talks would "at least determine whether a deal is possible."

Thai, Cambodian armies exchange charges of violating ceasefire
Bangkok / Phnom Penh - Saba: The Thai and Cambodian armies exchanged accusations on Tuesday of "violating the ceasefire," which took effect at midnight Monday, noting that "fighting continued today in several border locations." After the ceasefire was announced, "violations were reported in the Phu Makua area, caused by the Cambodian side, which led to an exchange of fire between the two sides that continued until Tuesday morning," the Russian news agency Sputnik quoted Reach Sokswanon, deputy spokesman for the Thai military, as saying in a statement. Clashes also took place in the Sam Tait area, which continued until 5:30 a.m. Thai military spokesman Winthai Suwari said, "Upon the entry into force of the agreement, the Thai side observed that Cambodian forces launched armed attacks on several areas within Thai territory." This comes as Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manit announced Tuesday morning that the situation on the border with Thailand had calmed down after the ceasefire took effect at midnight on Monday. "The front has calmed down after the ceasefire took effect at midnight on Monday, in line with the spirit of the agreement between Cambodia and Thailand during the special meeting in Malaysia," Hun Manit said in a social media post, according to China's Xinhua News Agency. "The early cessation of hostilities will also allow affected people, such as the displaced, to return to their homes and resume their normal lives as soon as possible." For his part, Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen affirmed in a separate statement that "the ceasefire and peace agreement is achieving positive and effective results." Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia had reached an agreement to implement a ceasefire starting at midnight on Monday, following a meeting held in Malaysia under his auspices. It is worth noting that clashes between the two sides in the disputed border areas began on July 24, with both sides trading accusations of violating international law. Brazil nears joining Gaza genocide case at ICJ
Brasília - Saba: The Brazilian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that it is in the final stages of submitting a formal request to join the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding its military actions in the Gaza Strip. In a statement cited by Quds Press, the ministry stressed that the ongoing atrocities in Gaza cannot be met with international silence. It emphasized that the global community must not remain idle in the face of violations against civilians in the besieged enclave. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated on Tuesday that Israel is committing "genocide" in Gaza, clarifying that the situation is "not a war" but rather a systematic killing of civilians, particularly women and children. Latin American Nations Join South Africa's Case Five Latin American countries have successively joined the lawsuit filed by South Africa at the ICJ, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinian civilians in Gaza during its continuous aggression since October 7, 2023. - Nicaragua was the first Latin American country to take this step, formally submitting a request to the court on February 16, 2024, to join as a "third party." It argued that Israel's actions in Gaza violate the 1948 Genocide Convention and called for accountability. - Colombia filed a similar request on April 5, 2024, stating its aim was to "defend the Palestinian people's right to life and dignity" and ensure accountability for crimes against civilians. - Chile submitted its formal request on September 13, 2024, following President Gabriel Boric's announcement in June that Chile would support South Africa's legal efforts, calling Gaza's humanitarian tragedy a matter requiring decisive legal action. - Bolivia officially joined the case on October 9, 2024, expressing full support for legal measures to hold Israel accountable. - Cuba intervened on January 13, 2025, submitting a declaration in support of South Africa's call for accountability over "grave and systematic violations of international humanitarian law." Brazil is now set to become the sixth Latin American country to join the case. ICJ's Provisional Measures On January 26, 2024, the ICJ issued provisional measures ordering Israel to take all possible steps to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza, including ensuring humanitarian aid access and preventing incitement to hatred. While the court has not yet ruled on the case's merits, it found South Africa's claims "plausible enough" to warrant urgent measures—a legal basis that prompted multiple countries to intervene. South Africa filed the lawsuit on December 29, 2023, accusing Israel of violating the Genocide Convention through its military operations in Gaza, which have killed tens of thousands of civilians, mostly women and children.
