
IIT-BHU launches 6-month certification programme on IoT & manufacturing
Varanasi: A six-month AICTE QIP–PG Certification Programme titled 'IoT and Manufacturing: Methods, Processes, Applications and Technology' has been inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU.
Organised by the Precision Engineering Hub (PEH), the initiative is supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under its Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), aimed at upskilling faculty members across the country in emerging digital and smart manufacturing technologies.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by IIT-BHU acting director Prof NK Mukhopadhyay and DIA-CoE director Tapash Kumar Nandy.
Key faculty members, including Prof. Santosh Kumar, PEH Coordinator, Prof. Sandeep Kumar, Head of Mechanical Engineering, and G. M. Karthik, Programme Coordinator, were present.
A total of 36 faculty members from nine states and union territories are participating, with 25 holding PhDs in fields like Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering. The course is led by eight IIT (BHU) faculty experts and includes hands-on training in a dedicated IoT Lab developed with FITAS Robotics and Embedded Systems Pvt.

Telangana govt to decide new fee structure for engineering colleges soon
Hyderabad, June 27 (UNI) Telangana government will take a prudent decision on the fee structure in the Engineering colleges in the state soon. The fee structure will be finalised by examining every aspect of the engineering colleges including the teaching staff, teaching standards, lab facilities, buildings, and other infrastructure facilities accordingly, an official release said here on Friday. In view of growing demand for courses like Artificial Intelligence (AI) which also has a strong impact on the technology sector, the government is planning to create a 'new system' so that colleges can move forward in a planned manner in consultation with the government to meet the changing market needs, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said. In this process, engineering colleges across the state are expected to have better facilities, teaching staff, labs, in line with AICTE guidelines and the government will consider these parameters for determining the fee structure, the CM said. The Supreme Court has directed in the cases of Islamic Academy of Education vs. Karnataka and PA Inamdar and Others vs. Maharashtra that the facilities, labs, salaries paid to lecturers, teaching and non-teaching staff, future plans of the college and decisions taken to increase the standards of the college should be taken into consideration in the finalizing the fee. The state government decided to take the Supreme Court judgments into account in determining the fees. The previous BRS government conducted inspection by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department on facilities, teaching staff and other issue in engineering colleges and prepared a report, but did not take any action on the report and instead, gave freedom to some colleges to increase fees and showed a biased attitude towards some other colleges, the CM alleged. In this context, the state government decided to appoint a Committee to evaluate the quality of education provided in engineering colleges and take a decision on fees, along with examining the report, he said. At the same time, the state government decided to complete the counseling process for admissions in engineering colleges within the stipulated time, the CM added. UNI KNR SSP
