IOI Corp 3Q net profit soars to RM262.3mil on strong plantation performance
The rise in profit was due mainly to higher contribution from the plantation segment, partially offset by lower contribution from the resource-based manufacturing segment.
Revenue increased by 11 per cent to RM2.73 billion from RM2.46 billion in the same period a year ago, said the leading global integrated and sustainable palm oil player in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The plantation segment's 3Q profit before tax (PBT) of RM310.6 million was 27 per cent higher than 3Q PBT a year ago of RM244.9 million, due to higher crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel prices realised and higher share of results from associates, but was partially offset by higher CPO stock level, lower fresh fruit bunches (FFB) production and lower oil extraction rate.
"The resource-based manufacturing segment profit in the quarter reviewed was RM71.1 million as compared to profit in 3Q of RM44.4 million previously, due mainly to reduced contribution from the oleochemical sub-segment with lower sales volume and lower share of results from associate, but was partially mitigated by higher contribution from the refinery sub-segment with higher margin," IOI Corp said.
For the cumulative nine-month period, the group posted a higher net profit of RM1.08 billion from RM762.50 million in the same period a year ago, while revenue increased to RM8.37 billion from RM7.06 billion previously.
IOI Corp projects the CPO price to range between RM3,700 and RM4,000 per tonne for the rest of its financial year ending June 30, 2025 (FY2025).
For the plantation segment, FFB production for 4Q FY2025 is expected to recover significantly over 3Q FY2025, and anticipates that this higher FFB production will help sustain a steady financial performance, despite the lower CPO price expected for 4Q FY2025.
"Overall, the group expects its operating and financial performance for 4Q FY2025 to be satisfactory," it added.

KUALA LUMPUR: Powerwell Holdings Bhd has accepted purchase orders (POs) worth RM16.63 million to supply switchboards and components for a hyperscale data centre project at Elmina Business Park, Selangor. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the electrical products manufacturer said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kejuruteraan Powerwell Sdn Bhd, received the POs from RYBE Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, Protech Builders Sdn Bhd, and LFE Engineering Sdn Bhd. Powerwell said the POs, accepted between April and July this year, are expected to be fulfilled by the first quarter of 2026. "The POs are expected to contribute positively to Powerwell's consolidated earnings and net assets for the financial year ending March 31, 2026," it said. Powerwell added that it does not foresee any exceptional risks apart from normal operational risks associated with POs and will take steps to mitigate these risks. In a separate statement, Powerwell managing director Catherine Wong Yoke Yen said the orders reflected the group's technical capability in delivering data centre projects. "We are delighted to have secured these orders, which reflect our strong technical expertise and proven track record, having completed numerous data centre projects for multinational corporations," she said. Avaland buys PJ land for RM49mil
KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer Avaland Bhd is set to strengthen its foothold in the Klang Valley with the acquisition of a 0.88-hectare leasehold land in Section 13, Petaling Jaya for RM49 million. The parcel, currently occupied by a showroom and warehouse, is earmarked for a high-rise commercial development with a projected gross development value of RM320 million. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said its wholly owned Leisure Event Sdn Bhd had signed a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Comit Communication Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd on July 1. The land, which has a remaining lease tenure of 50 years, will be delivered with vacant possession upon completion of the deal. It is currently zoned for mixed-use development and benefits from proximity to key urban amenities and transport infrastructure. Avaland said the purchase consideration was arrived at on a willing-buyer, willing-seller basis, and is supported by an independent valuation from CBRE WTW Valuation & Advisory Sdn Bhd, which appraised the land at RM49 million. "The land's strategic location within a mature and affluent neighbourhood, coupled with excellent connectivity via major highways and public transportation, offers strong development potential," it said. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of internally generated funds and bank borrowings, with the exact mix to be determined later. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the deal is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025. Avaland chief executive officer Apollo Bello Tanco said the upcoming project will be part of its AVA Prime series, which focuses on offering well-designed, high-quality homes crafted to cater to professionals and expanding families. "We are confident that this addition to our landbank will further strengthen our development pipeline and contribute positively to the group's long-term earnings," he said.
