Fête de la Musique is back to mark 30 years of 'beats, culture & pure vibes'
The event is taking place on June 21, at Victoria Yards, Lorentzville, Johannesburg.
Expect vibes for days with a curated line-up of more than 20 acts plucked from more than 300 hopefuls by a top-tier panel of national and international tastemakers. This is no ordinary playlist — this is live music magic, with a mix of raw talent and rising stars, all served on a Johannesburg winter afternoon.
Sun-El Musician and Bongeziwe Mabandla — both alumni of Fête stages past — are back to show just how far they've come. Now national icons, they're bringing their signature sounds home to where it all began.
Also on stage will be Akeeda, Jabulile Majola, Namhla Badela, Thabiso Thabete, NdumzDJ, Brandon Aura, IDAHUM, KatzTheSingR, Tumi Dibakoane, Tsoness, Afro Moment, Shepard Brothers, Tshepo Molefe, Thando Nkosi, KGZOO and many others, including some surprise acts.

NYO Jazz drops live album recorded at the Market Theatre Carnegie Hall presents Live in Johannesburg — NYO Jazz's new live album recorded during their debut South African tour at the Market Theatre. This marks the youth ensemble's second full-length release and first live recording, capturing the energy and spirit of cultural exchange. Led by artistic director and trumpeter Sean Jones and featuring vocalist Alicia Olatuja, the album includes performances by South African talents Romy Brauteseth (bass) and Linda Sikhakhane (saxophone). Additionally, the festival saw over 370 participants detained for various offences, including nearly 90 arrests in Paris alone. Among the more grievous incidents, a 17-year-old was hospitalised with stab wounds to the lower abdomen, while thirteen law enforcement officers also sustained injuries during the festivities. Laurent Nunez, the prefect of Paris police, remarked to the media on the seriousness of the incidents, asserting, 'These are extremely serious incidents.' He condemned the calls to inject women as 'completely idiotic,' reflecting the growing anxieties around public safety during major events.
