The Best Growth Stocks I'd Buy Right Now
Key Points Intuitive Surgical continues to lead the way in robotic surgical instruments. Restaurant chain Cava Group is making strides where some rivals are faltering. 10 stocks we like better than Intuitive Surgical › If you're a growth-oriented investor like me, you've probably seen your portfolio experience its fair share of ups and downs the last few years. While the market has rebounded to new heights and many growth businesses have recovered spectacularly, results have varied by individual stock. As always, it's important to look beyond a stock's price and see what's happening behind the scenes. A share price may be up or down for a good reason, but you need to understand the factors driving these movements before you hit the buy button. On that note, here are two top growth stocks to consider if you have cash to invest right now. 1. Intuitive Surgical Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ: ISRG) has been known for its pioneering role in robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci surgical system since its first platform was approved more than two decades ago. The da Vinci system provides surgeons with enhanced dexterity, precision, and control during minimally invasive procedures including thoracic, gynecologic, and general surgeries. These systems allow for a wider range of motion than the human hand and wrist, translating surgeon movements into precise instrument actions within a patient's body. This is particularly helpful for complex procedures in confined spaces, but can also improve surgery outcomes, shorten recovery time, and reduce the risk of adverse complications. Intuitive Surgical's revenue comes from three different sources: system sales, instruments and accessories, and services. What might be surprising is that Intuitive's most significant revenue stream is selling instruments and accessories such as forceps, scissors, scalpels, drapes, and vision products. Once a da Vinci system is installed in a hospital, each surgery performed using that system requires these specialized instruments and accessories, many of which are single-use or need to be replaced after a set number of uses. Of course, as systems can cost $1 million or more apiece, one-time sales, as well as usage-based or lease-type sales of systems, are a key driver of revenue. Finally, the services business encompasses the comprehensive support provided to customers, including installation, maintenance, and repair of surgical systems. Intuitive typically includes service contracts with the initial sale of a da Vinci system, providing ongoing revenue through annual fees. These contracts can vary in price depending on the system configuration and the scope of services included. The company's new da Vinci 5 platform is now broadly available in the U.S., and limited launches are starting in Europe and Japan after receiving the necessary regulatory clearances. The da Vinci 5 system has been well-received so far, with over 100,000 procedures already performed since its initial approval in the U.S. in early 2024. Intuitive Surgical's revenue growth for the first half of 2025 totaled $4.69 billion, a healthy 20% increase from the $3.9 billion it reported in the first half of 2024. Net income for the first six months of 2025 came to $1.4 billion, up 27% on a year-over-year basis. And the average consensus 12-month price target from analysts suggests a potential upside of approximately 20% from current share prices. If you're a long-term investor who wants a piece of the action of a top-notch healthcare stock, definitely consider Intuitive Surgical. 2. Cava Group Cava Group (NYSE: CAVA) is a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant chain that offers customizable bowls, salads, and pitas with a focus on fresh, healthy ingredients. The company also produces and sells a line of Mediterranean dips, spreads, and dressings available in grocery stores. Cava has been a standout example of a fast-casual restaurant that's expanding gradually and strategically without sacrificing its financial health. In fact, Cava's financials keep looking better and better. Revenue reached $329 million in the first quarter of its fiscal 2025, a 28% increase compared to the same period last year. Same-store sales also increased by 10.8% in Q1, while Cava opened 15 new restaurants in the three-month period alone. That rate of expansion brought its restaurant total to 382 locations across 26 states and the District of Columbia. The company is also building a consistent track record of profitability. Its Q1 net income of nearly $26 million was almost double that of the previous year. And Cava is targeting 1,000 restaurants by 2032, a significant expansion of its current footprint. Importantly, restaurant-level profit of $82.3 million was up 27.4% in Q1 on a year-over-year basis, and restaurant-level profit margin was 25.1%. These are impressive figures for a fast-casual restaurant that's still in the relatively early stages of its growth story. Cava has shown resilience in navigating macroeconomic headwinds by focusing on strategic pricing, guest engagement, and operational excellence. The restaurant stock seems to be resonating with consumers, providing a strong value proposition in a sector of the restaurant industry that's highly competitive and fragmented. If you have the risk appetite to invest in a business operating in a more cyclical consumer-facing space, Cava looks like a quality buy to consider right now. ‘Ridiculous': Canadian lumber industry reeling after U.S. duty hikes calls for Trump deal
Canada's forestry sector says it is facing mounting pressure as the United States moves forward with substantial new duties on softwood lumber. (CTV News) Canada's forestry sector says it is facing mounting pressure as the U.S. moves forward with substantial new duties on softwood lumber. Canadian producers warn the move could cost thousands of jobs and force the closure of smaller family-run operations. The U.S. commerce department announced Friday it is nearly tripling anti-dumping duties on Canadian softwood to 20.56 per cent, up from 7.66 per cent. An increase in countervailing duties to be announced next week is expected to bring the combined rate against Canadian softwood shipped to the U.S. to 34 per cent. The U.S. imposes anti-dumping duties because it claims Canadian producers sell softwood at prices that are below market value. Countervailing duties are slapped on Canadian softwood because the U.S. government considers the Canadian product to be government subsidized. Parm Binning, vice-president of business development for the Mirax Group, which runs a lumber yard in Abbotsford B.C., says the hike in duties could lead to layoffs. 'We're taking it day by day right now. We're just seeing how our customers are reacting to these unfair duties. And it's likely not going to be good.' Binning estimates there are more than 250 family-run manufacturing companies like his in the province who are now being forced to re-assess their future. '35 per cent on lumber going across the line is just ridiculous. It's going to kill thousands of jobs,' he told CTV News. The wood being sorted and shipped for distribution in Abbotsford is destined for countries all over the world, including China, India, and Australia. But most of it, Binning puts the number at 65 per cent, will be shipped to their biggest customer, the United States. The U.S. lumber industry is applauding the move to penalize Canadian producers, arguing they engage in predatory pricing and 'dump' their product into the U.S. market to the detriment of U.S. producers. Independent operators on this side of the border accuse the Americans of pure greed. 'It just seems like a smack in the face,' said Brian Menzies, executive director of the Independent Wood Processors of British Columbia. 'It's not just that we may have to slow down for a while and lay some people off. It's like, this might be the end of my business.' Days ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's Aug. 1 trade deadline, B.C. Premier David Eby said Wednesday it is vital any agreement should include a deal on softwood lumber. 'There appears to be a moment that we could resolve the softwood issue, if the President is looking for a shared win here, which I certainly hope he is.' Prime Minister Mark Carney has indicated solving the softwood conflict is a top priority in trade talks with the U.S., which Menzies says is offering the industry hope. 'This has been going on for decades and decades now. Let's find a way to resolve this.'

Former Abitibi Paper Mill in Iroquois Falls to undergo transformation
A former paper mill in Iroquois Falls has a new lease on life and will be used as a construction materials hub for a new Far North medical facility. Plans are underway to transform the former Abitibi Paper Mill in Iroquois Falls into a multimodal logistics hub for northeastern Ontario. On July 25, BMI, the company that owns the mill and property around it, shared details of its vision with the community. Connex 3 BMI Group and the municipality of Iroquois Falls have been working on a plan to use the Abitibi Paper Mill as a multimodal logistics hub. (Lydia Chubak/CTV News) The Abitibi Paper Mill saw a great deal of paper for newspapers roll out of the building during much of the 20th century, but with the decline of newsprint, the building has been idle for more than a decade. Until now. BMI Group has been working with the municipality to figure out ways to repurpose the property and calls the initiative 'Abibiti Connex.' 'The vision is to become a multimodal logistics hub for the north,' said John Veldman, chief operating officer for BMI Group. Connex2 BMI Group and the municipality of Iroquois Falls have been working on a plan to use the Abitibi Paper Mill as a multimodal logistics hub. (Lydia Chubak/CTV News) 'The vision is to attract tenants that may need trans loading, that may need rail service or any kind of logistics (and) movement of goods. So that's one of the items.' BMI Group owns more than 2,000 acres of land on the banks of the Abitibi River. Veldman said more than 200 acres are shovel-ready for industries to build and around 1,800 acres are agricultural. 'In fact, we've cleared about 220 acres so far of farmland … beautiful black muck soil that can, yeah, grow beautiful crops,' said Veldman. Iroquois Falls mayor Tory Delaurier calls Abitibi Connex a 'game changer' for Iroquois Falls. 'We've been working very hard over the last few years to try and get redevelopment of this site, and things are coming together,' said Delaurier. Connex1 BMI Group and the municipality of Iroquois Falls have been working on a plan to use the Abitibi Paper Mill as a multimodal logistics hub. (Lydia Chubak/CTV News) BMI Group invited the entire community to an official launch and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Public tours of the old mill were given and many people in attendance for the announcement remembered working at the mill. They said they are excited and hopeful for what's to come. That includes Iroquois Falls resident Gilles Forget, a former mill employee and former mayor. 'I think council is doing an excellent job, too,' Forget said. 'You know, they never gave up. When somebody comes into the community and offers something, you can't say 'no, I don't believe you'. You have to encourage them.' 'I could kiss them' 'I'm so happy I could kiss them,' said Marguerite Grenier resident of Iroquois Falls. 'Very happy; it's going to help us.' 'Well, since we lost the mill, it's been downhill for lots of people and lots of them now have to travel to work,' said Nicole Boucher, another resident of Iroquois Falls. Abitibi Connex has signed up a couple of clients so far. One is a firm that will coordinate the delivery of construction materials to Moosonee for a new hospital, and it's also been helping establish O'Clay, a field-to-fork food hub company that delivers fresh food to the James Bay Coast. 'People get excited when O'Clay shows up because they know that they're gonna get quality products,' said Natasha Marin, Deputy Grand Chief of Mushkegowuk Council. Ontario Northland is another partner working to grow Abitibi Connex. It's investing more than $3 million to improve the rail line between Porquis Junction and Iroquois Falls.
