Jewish comics claim fringe shows dropped on mistaken pretext
Rachel Creeger and Philip Simon told Times Radio that the Whistle Binkies venue told them the cancellation was linked to a 'vigil for IDF soldiers' held during Creeger's performance last year, something the venue later admitted had not happened.
Creeger, Britain's only touring comedian who is also a practising Orthodox Jew, explained: 'They initially said that they believed we'd held a vigil for an IDF soldier, a fallen soldier, which is a thing that just hadn't ever happened in either of our shows. The shows are not political, we're not political performers and the IDF is not a relevant subject in either show.
'They later withdrew that and said they understood that that didn't actually happen.
'Last year they went to great lengths to tell us that it was a safe space for us and that they would ensure that we always had positive experiences there. So it came as something of a shock to suddenly be told last Friday that we were no longer welcome on the site.'
Simon also said that a different venue decided to drop his performance after searching his social media, adding: 'My solo show, which has been at the same venue for the past two years, a different venue […] told me that my political views didn't align with theirs and therefore they were pulling that show.
'They've effectively done a trawl of social media to decide I didn't quite align with their views relating to the Israeli government. I've never posted about the Israeli government. I've posted about the situation because we're all horrified about what's going on in the Middle East but there's been nothing positive that I put out really about the Israeli government.'
He added that he was concerned by the implication of their shows being cancelled. 'Of course people have a right to choose who gets to perform in their venue, but there are also surely protective groups and laws that prevent decisions being made against us for those reasons.
'It seems very much that the decisions that have been taken have not been done because 'we want a different show', it's because of who we are and who they think we represent.'
Whistle Binkies was contacted for comment.
An Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society spokesperson said: 'The Fringe Society's role is to provide support and advice to all participants at the Festival Fringe with a vision to give anyone a stage and everyone a seat. We stand for freedom of expression, which has been a core principle of the festival since its inception nearly 80 years ago. The Fringe Society don't manage or programme venues at the festival.
'We understand that the show cancellations have been a choice made by the venue. Our Artist Services team continue to support the artists affected, including in their search for an alternative venue. We understand that those conversations are ongoing and hope a resolution is found.'

Olivia Attwood shares behind-the-scenes video and snaps from This Morning presenting stint and Love Island event
OLIVIA Attwood shared a behind-the-scenes video and snaps from her presenting stint at This Morning. If her Instagram is anything to go by, the former Love Island star has the perfect work life balance. 10 10 She took to the photo-sharing platform as she gave her 2.4 million followers a sneak peek at what really goes on in her life. Olivia, 34, shared a number of behind-the-scenes snaps on the set of the flagship ITV Show. Her cover shot showed the star posing in her dressing room in a white vest top, skimpy black trousers as her hair was pulled up. Another video was taken by her entourage as she was on the set of This Morning with her co-star Dermot O'Leary. She danced in an orange top and high-waisted navy trousers as the cameras and production teams moved around her. A third video showed the star getting a make-up top up as a stylist fluttered around fixing her hair whilst she looked through her cue cards. The former reality star also posed in her glasses as the face of an exclusive VIP event for Boots opticians. However, she also relaxed away from the cameras as she attended the Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium with her husband Bradley Dack. He looked absolutely delighted as he wrapped his arms around her in an intimate selfie from their private hospitality box. Not stopping there, she was busy in the voiceover booth recording segments for forthcoming editions of Olivia Attwood's Bad Boyfriends. This Morning fans deliver verdict on Olivia Attwood as she makes her debut as new co-host with Dermot O'Leary After that, the star met a group of fans on the set of a special Love Island fashion event for eBay Live. She was dressed in a silk white wrap top with beige wide leg trousers as she was joined by Casey O'Gorman and Sophie Piper. Olivia captioned the album: "I get around." The star previously faced backlash when she made her debut on the flagship ITV daytime magazine programme. Olivia Attwood's Career History From Monster grid girl and Love Island star to daytime telly panellist and respected documentary maker, Olivia Attwood has made a huge career pivot in recent years... Olivia first started as a Monster grid girl at motorsport events in 2012 when she was 19-years-old, and did it right up until she went into Love Island in 2017. After placing third in the reality show with then-boyfriend Chris Hughes, she starred in their own spin-off series, Chris & Olivia: Crackin' On, in 2018. Later that year, she appeared on Celebs Go Dating and then joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex in 2019, where she had a number of fiery on-screen rows. In 2020, the reality TV veteran began starring in her own reality series on ITVBe titled Olivia Meets Her Match, which followed her wedding preparations with footballer Bradley Dack. In 2021, the tide started to turn. Olivia made appearances on household shows Lorraine, Tipping Point: Lucky Stars and Loose Women. Then, in 2022, ITV commissioned her for her first ever documentary series. She presented Olivia Attwood: Getting Filthy Rich, which explored women selling sexual content online. In June 2023, ITV commissioned Olivia Marries Her Match and made her a regular guest panellist on Loose Women. Her most recent docu-series, Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection, aired in January this year where she sensitively explored the cosmetic industry. Her reality background didn't go down well with some of the more traditionalist viewers, who vowed to switch off. Olivia clapped back at the trolls who shared their dismay with her appointment in the role, as she insisted "there's much more to me." Her colleague Josie Gibson, 40, who is a regular presenter on This Morning, later defended Olivia, saying she's 'brilliant' in the role. She told The Sun: "Oh my God she's brilliant. It's brilliant she gets to do this and I think she's really good. Yeah, really good. Those who know me understand the hard work I've put in to get where I am today. Olivia AttwoodSpeaking to The Sun "Honestly, you get some backlash like that in this industry and I really don't know why people do it." The former Big Brother star added: "I'll never understand why people do it, you know. To me, I've always loved to see people do well and I genuinely love it. "I think Olivia is brilliant in the role." 10 10 10

Tesco's copycat waterproof is selling for £30 less than John Lewis – it's stylish, hooded & perfect for festival season
TESCO shoppers are racing to bag a stylish waterproof jacket that looks just like a designer version from John Lewis - but for £30 less. The hooded coat is perfect for festival season, keeping you dry without skimping on style. Rain or shine, it's the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe - without the posh price tag. PRODUCT DETAILS This shower-resistant poncho is built for Britain's unpredictable weather – with a buttoned front and elasticated cuffs to keep you dry on the go. The longline fit adds extra coverage and style, making it the perfect throw-on for festivals, park days or last-minute dashes to the shop. It's lightweight, packs down easily, and gives major high-street vibes without the hefty price tag. With its A-line shape and floaty sleeves, this water-resistant cape doesn't just keep you dry – it looks good doing it. The popper fastenings make it easy to throw on in a downpour, and it's 100% polyester and machine washable. It comes in classic black or on-trend khaki – and it's a steal at just £17. Festival-proof, fashion-forward and budget-friendly – what's not to love? I'm a size 14 and did the best Tesco summer haul - run before new co-ord sells out HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO DESIGNERS John Lewis has a near-identical cape in navy – though it'll set you back £47. That's £30 more than Tesco's take, making the supermarket steal a no-brainer for bargain hunters who still want to stay stylish in the rain. Tesco's cape is made from polyester, while John Lewis uses nylon – but when it comes to keeping dry, both do the job. Polyester offers a lightweight, breathable feel, while nylon is known for being a touch more durable. But at a massive £30 less, Tesco's version still comes out on top for style and savings. ONLINE CHANGE Tesco made a major change to F&F clothing in May. The UK's biggest supermarket has officially re-launched the clothing brand online for the first time in seven years. Shoppers were first able to buy the F&F range on a separate site from 2009 before it was moved onto Tesco Direct in 2016. However, it was ditched in 2018. Customers could still buy items from the collection through Next until this January, until it stopped stocking the range. Tesco shoppers can now pick up F&F-branded clothes via and the supermarket's Grocery and Clubcard app. If you don't have the app you can download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The collection includes women's, men's and kids' clothing, as well as footwear and accessories. Shoppers looking to pick up F&F items online will have to pay a £3.99 home delivery fee on all orders. How has Tesco's F&F upped its game By Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend ZARA has become a high street staple in recent years thanks to its hot-off-the-catwalk designs and affordable prices. But recently those prices have risen with the brand's popularity. However, if you are looking for high fashion inspired outfits with low price tags you needn't drag yourself to your local shops, just head to the supermarket instead. F&F has come a long way from selling a few backs of T-shirts and fluffy dressing gowns and is now a must have shopping destination for thousands. They produce good quality, long lasting and on trend clothes that puts others to shame. F&F is filled with Zara dupes and other looks inspired by our favourite shops that will set you back less than £50 - and you can get them while you pick up your dinner. I for one love F&F denim, it's durable, fits really well and has all the best silhouettes. So even if you're not looking for reasonable prices but just want good clothes, get yourself to Tesco. 2

All the locations across the UK that you can see the Red Arrows in action this summer
THE legendary Red Arrows are back with a bang this summer - and fans are in for a treat as the iconic RAF display team takes to the skies across the UK. From seaside resorts to city flyovers, we've rounded up every spot you can catch the jaw-dropping jets in action. 3 Buzzing Brits got a right royal treat as the Red Arrows kicked off their summer 2025 season with a breathtaking flypast over Buckingham Palace to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Crowds packed the streets of London to watch the legendary RAF display team roar over the capital - kicking off months of high-flying action across the UK. The Red Arrows' Hawk T1 jets, known for their iconic red, white and blue smoke trails, can hit dizzying speeds of 660mph and even break the sound barrier in a dive. But it's not just for show - that vibrant vapour helps the pilots judge wind direction and stay in tight formation after splitting apart at eye-watering speeds. Behind the scenes, it takes an army to keep the jets soaring — 11 elite pilots, backed by 100 engineers and support crew, nicknamed the 'Circus' for their precision teamwork. Only the best of the best get to join - Red Arrow hopefuls must clock at least 1,500 flying hours, complete an operational tour, and be rated 'above average' in the air. Here's where you can catch their sky-high stunts this summer... October 2025 04 October – Duxford Flying Finale Display Let's hope the skies stay clear - because just on Saturday, the Red Arrows were forced to pull the plug on a much-anticipated display at Old Buckenham Airshow due to bad weather. The cancellation left thousands of fans gutted, with organisers confirming the team wouldn't fly amid safety concerns caused by poor visibility and unpredictable conditions. They took to social media to post: "Sadly, the RAF Red Arrows have been cancelled today due to the deteriorating conditions. "Safety is paramount and just announced by Red 10. "We have managed to have more than half of the acts display, and thank you all for your support." It's a reminder that even the mightiest jets are at the mercy of the British weather. So, fingers crossed for blue skies at their upcoming shows.
