Seen by many as a follow-up to his much-loved 2007 film 'Life... In A Metro', Basu's latest slice-of-life drama's box office run has been more slow and steady.
Steady climb at the box office
According to Sacnilk, 'Metro... In Dino' had a decent start at the box office. In its first seven days, the film made an estimated Rs 26.85 crore in India. It began with Rs 3.5 crore on its opening Friday, grew to Rs 6 crore on Saturday, and peaked at Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday.
As weekdays came in, collections dropped a bit, making Rs 2.5 crore on Monday, Rs 3 crore on Tuesday, Rs 2.35 crore on Wednesday and Rs 2.25 crore on Thursday.
On day 8 (Friday), early estimates show the film earned another Rs 2.25 crore, bringing the total close to Rs 29 crore. With this, 'Metro... In Dino' is all set to cross the Rs 30 crore mark very soon.

On Friday, 11th July, 'Metro... In Dino' recorded an overall 21.02% Hindi occupancy.
Morning shows saw only 9.37% seats filled, but numbers picked up later with afternoon shows at 18.14%, evening shows at 20.32%, and night shows reaching 36.23%.
Movie review
'The Times of India' offered a fair take on the film. It pointed out both what worked and what didn't. The review said, "Despite being largely pleasant, some tracks don't quite add up, feel uneven and don't know where to end. After an engaging build up, the second half feels a tad stretched.
You also wish the story scratched the surface a little more, especially for Konkona-Neena Gupta track, where the actors have the potential and gravitas to dig deeper.

Still, the review also made it clear why the film is important today. It read, "There has been a scarcity of love stories in Bollywood and Metro In Dino, elevated by some fine performances, fills that gap perfectly. It is a breezy, intimate watch tailor-made for a rainy day."

Superman Box Office: Takes Off with Rs. 8 Crore first day in India, Third Biggest for DC
Superman landed in India yesterday with a first-day collection of Rs. 7.75-8 crore (USD 900K) approx. The opening ranks as the third-highest for a DC film in the country, behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Black Adam, while surpassing The Batman. The numbers also compare well to director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Rs. 8.25 crore), despite that film having a stronger Marvel branding. The top first-day grossers for DC in India are as follows: Some of the films in the above list had previews before the first day. The numbers above are excluding those previews. The superhero genre is a major draw for Indian audiences when it comes to Hollywood films,, however, that success has largely been driven by Marvel. DC has historically lagged behind. While several Marvel titles have grossed over Rs. 100 crore, with the biggest going well over Rs. 400 crore, DC is yet to hit that mark. The top grossing DC title in India remains Joker, with Rs. 84 crore. Director James Gunn's brand of filmmaking resonates more with the West than India. His Guardians films were among the lower-performing entries from the MCU in India as compared to the West. Moreover, the superhero genre itself has seen a slowdown in recent years, following a peak in the late 2010s and early 2020s. Taking all of that into account, the opening for Superman is a respectable one. In fact, relative to its softer start overseas outside the US, India is among the better markets for it. The film will aim to get a good growth over the weekend and then sustain from there.
