President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to visit the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan and attend business meetings, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said Wednesday.
'President to leave for Osaka, Japan for World Expo and business meetings,' PCO said.
The PCO has yet to announce the specific departure date of the President, as well as other details.
The World Expo 2025 was opened to the public on April 13.
The Department of Tourism said over 40,000 people visited the Philippine Pavilion in just nine days.

The centerpiece 'Dancing with Nature' also brings visitors to the 'living elements of the natural world.'

Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Alden Richards proud to be Kapuso as GMA Network celebrates 75th anniversary

Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Alden Richards are beaming with pride and honor as their home network celebrated its 75th anniversary with a star-studded event. In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Dingdong said that he grew up with the Kapuso network. "Very, very proud. Dito na ako lumaki so kumbaga 'yung paghulma sa 'kin bilang isang tao, tao talaga, eh malaking parte do'n 'yung GMA," he said. "Ito talaga 'yung aming tahanan, literal. Parang lahat nasa GMA eh. 'Yun nga 'yung palagi naming sinasabi na proud kami to be Kapuso at mananatili kaming Kapuso," Marian Rivera said. Alden said that he couldn't be happier that he's still with GMA Network. "Every time that I commute going here to do an audition or a go-see, there's something about GMA 'pag napapadaan 'yung MRT. That gut feel served me right and I couldn't be happier that I'm still here in GMA after 15 years," he said. Also present at the event were Kapuso executives, including GMA Network CEO and President Gilbert R. Duavit Jr., GMA Network Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, Sparkle First Vice President Joy Marcelo, and more. "Unang-una, at higit sa lahat, 'yung taos-pusong pasasalamat sa ating mga manonood, sa ating mga Kapuso. They are the reason we're here, so for the last 75 years, naging karangalan at privilege natin na paglingkuran sila and we look forward to the next 75 years of being one with the Filipino," GMA Network, Inc. President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr. said. "Beyond 75: The GMA Network Anniversary Special" will air on July 12 on GMA Network. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News

Heart Evangelista becomes Harper's Bazaar Singapore's 1st guest editor

Heart Evangelista is not just the cover girl of Harper's Bazaar Singapore's latest special issue. She makes history as the fashion magazine's first-ever guest editor. On Instagram, Harper's Bazaar Singapore unveiled its special issue cover featuring the Global Fashion Icon in a striking a pose in a white ensemble by Filipino designer Michael Leyva and styled with high jewelry from Tiffany & Co. "Ladies and gentlemen, meet our first guest editor: Heart Evangelista," Harper's Bazaar wrote. From painting to playing the piano, and even to being the creative force behind her Instagram posts, Heart has always been a creative person. The idea of becoming a guest editor for a fashion magazine isn't so far off. In the digital version of the cover story, Heart said turning 40 has brought her a new sense of clarity and strength rooted in embracing vulnerability and creative freedom. "Fashion, for me, has always been about resistance. It's about being able to say: I don't have to fit your mold," she said. The issue, titled "Championing Asia," highlights Asian trailblazers across the region, which includes Heart of course, Michael, and David Guison from the Philippines. Heart is gearing up for the return of her reality series, "Heart World," which she teased will be filled with revelations. "Feeling ko madami eh. Sana magandang pasabog pero definitely marami akong good news this season," she said. The first season of "Heart World" premiered on GMA Network in October 2024 and aired its last episode in January 2025. "Heart World" gave an exclusive look into her life, such as when she met South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo at Paris Fashion Week 2022. The reality series also showed a vulnerable side of Heart, as she opened up about being hurt by her most loyal soldiers. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA Integrated News

Visa to launch tap-to-pay service in PH this year

More Filipino consumers will soon be able to pay for goods and services by tapping their phones on point-of-sale (POS) machines with near-field communication (NFC) technology, as global payments platform Visa aims to launch its new Visa Pay service in the Philippines within the year. According to Visa Philippines head of products and solutions Ezer Escolar on Tuesday, the Visa Pay service will be piloted with fintech ecosystem and digital bank Maya. Visa Pay is a service designed to connect any participating wallet to any Visa-accepting merchant, local or international, in-store or online, to its global network, allowing consumers to pay globally by tapping, scanning, or online. 'The continuously growing digital payment sector in the Philippines makes it a prime environment for technological innovation—one that harnesses AI for the benefit of the digital Filipino business owner and consumer,' Visa Philippines country manager Jeffrey Navarro said. Sought for a more definite timeline for the rollout, Navarro said it would depend mostly on the partner agencies, with Visa already in talks with more partners for the service. 'The way Visa operates is it's really a partnership model. We can only do as fast as we can, based on the capabilities of partners, and partners will have varying priorities. The intent is the soonest we can launch it; that's what we want,' he said. "While Maya is the first to be announced, we are working and discussing with everyone," he added. Visa will also launch other services, such as Visa Accept, that will allow micro-sellers to receive payments directly to their eligible Visa debit card using any NFC-enabled smartphone. It is also set to roll out Flex Credential, a next-generation card that will allow users to toggle between debit, credit, and reward points, as well as stablecoin-backed cards, settlement, and programmable money. 'We are excited to work with local banks, acquirers, merchants, and the government in bringing these innovations to the Philippine market. Working with the right partners will help us translate these global innovations into real, tangible impact for local stakeholders—helping us all advance into the future of payments,' Navarro said. Data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas show that the value of electronic fund transfers coursed through PESONet and InstaPay from January to April 2025 reached P7.15 trillion, up from P5.22 trillion in the same period last year. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
