Love Island's Laura Anderson reveals parenting ‘struggle' in candid post – and admits ‘I don't know who my daughter is'

The Suna day ago
LAURA Anderson has been inundated with messages of support after she revealed her hardest-ever parenting "struggle" - and even admitted "I don't know who my daughter is."
The Love Island alum, 36, was eager to share "the truth behind my smiles" as she opened up on navigating life with one-year-old Bonnie.

She told how she "didn't recognise" her young daughter's new behaviour traits and that the issue of disciplining her had resulted in a knock to her self-confidence.
Former air hostess Laura shares her daughter with ex Gary Lucy, 43, welcoming the tot in September 2023.
Sadly she has often been the target of cruel online trolls, who recently called out her decision to keep her dog - who has bitten her child.
They also slammed her for being "out of touch" after she complained about a First Class plane journey with her tot, as well as being mum-shamed for going on holiday with her new man and leaving Bonnie behind.
Now the Scot has confessed that her happy snaps of late have been hiding the reality of her feelings.
She uploaded a series of snaps showing family days out with the tot at the beach and the circus, sharing special time with her mum, partner and pals.
Yet in her lengthy caption she outlined the real deal.
Laura wrote to her fans: "These may be images of love, laughter and core memories being made recently but the truth behind the smiles is- I'm struggling.
"This has been the hardest week of parenthood so far for me. Bonnie is coming up for 22months and a lot has changed and keeps changing.
"I don't know who my daughter is some days, I don't recognise her which has led to my dip in confidence communicating and or disciplining my own child (especially in public).
Laura Anderson takes HUGE swipe at Gary Lucy on Father's Day
"I'm scared of responding in the wrong way, I'm scared of making a mistake because what if it teaches her long lasting bad behaviours?!
"And let's be honest if you grew up in the 80s/90s like me, gentle parenting didn't exist. We got smacked (no offence to my parents) and now it's illegal. So I guess you could say I'm trying to find my place as a mother somewhere in between."
Laura continued: "We also talk about the 'juggle' but It's so much more than that. It's the responsibility of choosing a priority every second of the day because we simply can't do it all.
"I love my child but this is inevitably the hardest 'job' I've ever had (and I've had a lot of jobs.)
Laura Anderson and Gary Lucy's relationship timeline
Laura and Gary met when they both appeared on Celebs Go Dating back in 2022
They announced Laura's pregnancy in February 2023
Just one day later, they revealed that they had split
Later in 2023, they appeared to have reconciled
Laura gave birth to daughter Bonnie in September 2023
They announced shortly afterwards that they were no longer together
In June 2024, Lucy was asked if Gary had seen Bonnie, to which she responded: "No he hasn't since 2nd January if you would like to direct those questions to him as I have no control over the actions of others".
In August 2024, Gary shared a video of himself with Bonnie
With Laura hitting out: "Instead of posting videos of the one time you saw your daughter this year, can you please reply to my text from 2weeks ago please, that would be great".
Laura marked Bonnie's birthday in September 2024 as she referenced her "beautiful daughter"
When someone asked where her relationship with Gary stands, Laura replied: "No matter what Gary has done and not done I will always respect him as Bonnie's father and I hope one day he is capable of being the father she deserves."
" My new mantra though, is- 'show me how good it can get.'
"So without wishing my daughter's childhood away or those precious bonding turning point/learning curve moments. I hope 'this' ie tantrums…too shall pass."
Fans and fellow parents were quick to react to her no-holds-barred upload.
One supportively wrote: "We're all wingin' it."
A second urged: "Be kind to yourself and Bonnie. You went away for a week (no shame in that) you've moved house and moved in with your partner and she's started nursery all in the space of a month? That's a lot for anyone to deal with. Once life feels more settled, so will she."
A third noted: "Bless your heart, it's hard AF & doesn't get easier as they get older! Hugs sweetie x"
One then added: "Love how genuine & honest u are Laura.
"Parenthood certainly ain't all plain sailing but you've got this beautiful mama even if it feels like u don't sometimes, that's a normal part of parenthood but u do n ur such a great mammy to beautiful Bonnie."

Sali Hughes on beauty: bridal foundation tips for a flawless big day

I bristle at the expression 'bridal makeup', because it encourages the slightly weird idea that women's faces should look very different on their wedding days. Brides these days might be wearing black or red, hair up, hair down, hi-top trainers or Dr Martens boots. Similarly, bride-appropriate makeup is however one feels most attractive, comfortable, confident and oneself. The Guardian's journalism is independent. Rarely will you be photographed as much, over so many hours, and be faced with the outcome for so many years, so it's worth wearing something a little higher-coverage and longer-lasting than for a day at the office. Something semi-matte is ideal, since the opportunities to powder down shine will be scant and the risk of colour transfer on to a gown is higher with dewy formulas. My most commonly recommended is Lisa Eldridge's Seamless Skin Foundation (£44), which comes in 40 thoughtfully chosen shades and gives a pretty eggshell sheen to the skin. I've never received any negative feedback after the big day. Similarly versatile is Dior's Forever Skin Perfect Foundation Stick (£48). If your bridesmaid has room in her bag for anything more than mints and a lipstick, fill it with this, an exceptional medium-coverage solid foundation that melts silkily upon blending, laminating the face in soft, blurry, lasting coverage that can be sheered down or dialled up according to taste. It's also excellent for any fingertip touch-ups after the ceremony or wedding breakfast. Sign up to Inside Saturday The only way to get a look behind the scenes of the Saturday magazine. That price tag is hefty, but a very similar look is delivered by True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum (£14.99) from Armani stablemate, L'Oréal Paris. For problem skins where redness, acne or scarring are an issue, proceed directly to Estée Lauder for the peerlessly camouflaging DoubleWear Stay-in-place Foundation (£39.50), which not only builds up seamlessly to cover anything, but has phenomenal staying power (add setting spray and it could outlast some marriages). For oily skin types who'd like a soft matte finish with more vim, I enthusiastically recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills' Impeccable Blurring Second Skin Matte Foundation (£39, pictured above). I didn't expect to love this, but even my own parched skin looks great in it, thanks to its flattering, almost vellum paper-like finish.

Chris Hughes 'fears he'll be phased out of This Morning job' as ex Olivia Attwood bags presenting gig and becomes 'golden girl of ITV daytime' - with bosses 'scrambling to keep them apart'

reportedly fears he will be phased out of his This Morning job as his ex Olivia Attwood bags a presenting gig on the chat show. The pair first got together on the third series of Love Island in 2017, going on to feature in their own reality show Crackin' On before quickly splitting acrimoniously. They have gone on to develop separate careers in the limelight, as some of the most successful stars to come out of the ITV2 dating show. Olivia, 34, is now a regular Loose Women panellist as of 2023 and it was announced last month she would become a summer host on This Morning. Meanwhile, Chris, 32, has recently re-entered the spotlight for his romance with American musician JoJo Siwa, 22, which developed in the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year. Olivia has been vocal about her criticisms of this relationship - and now, Chris, also a contributor on This Morning, fears the two will clash again on the ITV chat show, according to an insider. It is understood Olivia joining the programme has caused difficulties behind the scenes. And Chris - who has worked as a roving reporter on the show since exiting the Big Brother house in April - is believed to be particularly anxious about it. Sources told The Sun he had been hoping to capitalise on a growing relationship with ITV bosses to get a more regular showing on the programme this summer - perhaps in the studio or even on the sofa. They say that with Olivia's regular slot on Loose Women, Chris did not expect her to cross over to This Morning. And as he was happy in his relationship and busy with work, with post-Big Brother about the romance dying down, he felt he was in for a more stable period. So, it all makes her arrival feel like 'a huge blow' and 'the last thing he wants'. 'He doesn't want to have to do live crosses to his ex in front of the nation - it's so awkward and he feels like the viewers will be scrutinising their every interaction and every little facial expression will be analysed', sources explained. A friend of Chris' added that as Olivia is now a main presenter and he is a contributor, he fears in a toss-up he would be 'more expendable'. 'Liv's basically the new golden girl of ITV daytime', they said, 'and he worries he's going to be phased out.' They went as far as to say he would even actively leave to avoid drama: 'He's also really not someone who likes conflict so he would rather walk away.' The friend said Chris also feels insulted by public comments Olivia has made about his time on Big Brother and with JoJo - especially as he never mentions her publicly and has always spoken about her positively. While he was in the house, Olivia said in a video posted to TikTok she had to go to therapy after dating her fellow Love Islander. The presenter also called his relationship with JoJo, who is around ten years younger than him, 'creepy'. 'The therapy was expensive and now I'm going to have to go back for another round because I'm getting trolled on this app and because every weird, creepy thing that happens, I'm getting tagged in it', she explained. Olivia - who returned to footballer ex Bradley Dack after splitting with Chris, marrying him in 2023 - also suggested Chris was hamming things up in the Big Brother house. '[Some] people, they go on reality TV, they are one person and when you experience them off camera… It's like shapeshifters', she said. When questioned directly on the social media platform for her thoughts on Chris and JoJo's relationship, she hinted he was staging a publicity stunt: 'She's really famous.' It is believed Olivia is not nearly as bothered by potentially crossing paths with Chris on the programme, according to a friend of hers - as the prospect had not even occurred to her. Though she 'wouldn't relish' having to speak to him, she would remain professional and focus on doing the job at hand, they added. Olivia and Chris' relationship turned frosty pretty much as soon as they left the villa. They split up during production for their reality show Crackin' On, in March 2018, only seven months after Love Island - with the number of episodes quickly cut. She has even admitted they 'hated' each other after exiting the villa, calling the relationship 'toxic' and saying they were 'horrible' together. Bosses are determined to keep the pair apart on This Morning, it is thought, and have committed to not putting them on air at the same time. There is believed to be room for both of them, especially as ITV is used to keeping feuding presenters apart - making no secret of this on shows like Loose Women. This Morning has been dogged with controversy in recent years with long-time co-presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield falling out. Phillip stepped down in May 2023 after publicly admitting to having a 'consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning '. The presenter, who had come out as gay in February 2020, said the affair was 'unwise but not illegal'. Holly said in a public statement that when the news of his affair broke, she asked him directly if it was true, which he denied - and she was later hurt to discover he had lied. He said in an interview with the BBC he texted her to apologise for this lie - but she never replied. In her return to This Morning in June 2023 after a short break, Holly said she felt 'worried, shaken, troubled, let down and full of questions' due to his actions. The pair unfollowed each other on social media four months later, before Holly left the show after a man was arrested for plotting to kidnap and murder her. They are believed to no longer be on speaking terms, with Phillip angry she did not publicly defend him. And viewers were widely unsure if there was enough chemistry between Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley (pictured on the show earlier this week) when they became the programme's main presenters in April 2023 She reportedly told him she did not want to 'feed the narrative' and she was advised by ITV bosses not to respond publicly. Former This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford has also had issues with Phillip, reportedly filing a formal complaint when he cut her off once. Her ex-husband and former This Morning co-host Eamonn Holmes has also publicly criticised Phillip in recent years, as 'addicted to fame', a 'liar' and 'delusional'. Even in the current era of the show, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have admitted it took them a while to form the close working relationship they now have. And viewers were widely unsure if there was enough chemistry between Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley when they became the programme's main presenters in April 2023.
